No shop owner in China?

I can't buy anything in the shop (where you can buy cameras for example) in China - because there's no shop assistant :-P In the other shops you just have to click on the cash desk and wait until the shop assistant arrives. - But not in the "general store" (I don't know the original English name) -> When I click on the cash point the rising cloud is grey (not clickable) :/
Or is there a special time where you only can buy there? (But I tried it day and night)

I don't have anyone in the cafe in france and the cash register says it's not open. Seems like a glitch...

glitch but easily fixable....

i had to go into edit town....delete register that was there...buy new one...and then return....all was well then...

just make sure to replace it the proper register...ie book store...grocery...etc..etc

you can edit the town without the cheat!!!!

you know that little icon on the left hand of the screen...choose edit town...
then at the TOP LEFT you should see the 3 icons for the places to visit...choose
which ever one is giving the problem and you can edit it...

I have this problem with the cafe in France as well. The food seller isn't anywhere to be found. D: So frustrating.

I had this problem in Egypt. The Bookstore merchant was nowhere to be found. I waited for that guy for 2 sim days. lol. But when I went back home and went back to Egypt, he was there. So try that. Just go back again and see if they show up.

In my game all the merchants are there.... France, China and Egypt. But I always have TestingCheatsEnabled true on before I go on vacation.
I'm not sure if this is a solution for you, but you could give it a try :)

I haven't had this problem until yesterday.

I was working on the Dong Huo Treasure quest and exploring the tomb in the Shang Simla Marketplace. At one point while disarming a trap I noticed that the Book Merchant, the Special Relic Merchant, the Food Merchant and another sim had entered the tomb and started relaxing on the beds.

I completed that quest, reported back and then was given the quest to interview three locals about their thoughts on retrieving Pangu's Axe. I went back to the Marketplace and wanted to interview the Book Merchant, the Special Relic Merchant and the Food Merchant because I had previously built relationships with them while purchasing items from them.

They were not in their shops. They were still down in the tomb and hadn't returned to the surface!

I have just sent my sim back to China to conclude the quest. When he got to the Marketplace at about 7:00 in the morning, there was no sign of the merchants and the shops were deserted. I went back to the marketplace tomb, but it too was empty. The Merchants who were down there at the conclusion of the previous trip were gone. I wandered around for a while collecting any moneybags that had regenerated and when I returned to the surface at about 10:30 am the merchants had returned to their shops or at least the vicinity of them. For example, the Food Merchant was reading a book on the top floor of the Bookshop.

You can edit a community lot without going into Edit Town mode.

With Testingcheats enabled, and a playable sim on the lot, shift-click the ground. Then you'll have a choice of Buy or Build on that lot.

You'll also need to turn Buydebug on, then you can delete the cash register and replace it from the Buydebug (question mark) catalog. That will assign a new NPC to the merchant job. Will take a lil while for them to show up, because they have to travel from wherever they are.

That's assuming your merchant is actually gone (e.g. because they died), and hasn't just wandered off somewhere ;) If you want to make sure of that, and you have any kind of relationship with the merchant, try calling em on your cell phone and inviting em over.

Would this also work at the nectory? The last two trips my sims have taken to France, there's no one working in the nectory. I was there for ten days both times, and visited the nectory at different times of the day and night, and nothing. No nectory owner, so I can't buy the thingy to make nectar or the good nectar racks. Would swapping out the register work for that, too?
