You can buy a better camera in Egypt.
Not sure about whether you should do quests before you get the challenge or after. I have seen reports that they don't reset either way, I have not done them without a quest.
To stay at a location for 5 days, you must have a level 1 visa in that location.

I'm wondering if the quests will reset after all have been done, I mean in all three worlds as they seem to be linked together. I have my sim lifespan on epic to make sure he can complete the lot before he dies

Quests will "reset" and items necessary to complete them will respawn in the tombs, but the tombs themselves will remain disturbed. Chests will spawn some new loot, but things like secret doors and statues will all be disturbed already, and that new tomb smell will be gone. On the other hand, makes for a faster run-through.
However, the quests are all conserved across households, so multiple generations of adventurer from the same fambly will follow a quest line until it is depleted, then you will get nothing but crap quests until you disband the household and reform it. I suspect doing this may forfeit your "ancient coin count", though.

There's a lifetime reward that lets you stay longer than the default for your current visa level -- I think it's three extra days. "Prepared Traveler", IIRC.
Most tombs have multiple areas or branches. Some of these can be explored without a quest; others require special keys which will be given to you by the questgiver, so you can't generally COMPLETE the tombs without the relevant quests. So you can feel free to explore without a quest, just be aware that you may have to come back to finish it up.
