Mirror bug?

Sorry if this is well known, but I've only gotten into the game recently.

I had my sim change his appearance via the mirror and his age bar reset! Does this happen to everyone? (I can't install the latest patch as it made my game crash to desktop every time I tried playing so I had to reinstall.)

Is there any way to change my sim's life span bar back to how it was or is he stuck living a much longer life?

Yup, happening to many. It was there before this last patch and it's still there. So all I can say is, it will be there until the end of time...? Good thing there's magic cake.
