Hidden tattooing skill

So, Ambitions features tattoos which are great and everything, but there's also a hidden tattooing skill. What does this do, exactly? Would there be any advantage from getting a tattoo from a sim with a high tattooing skill versus a low tattooing skill? I really haven't noticed how there's any skill involved...

There is a chance of failure when using the Tattoo Chair, based on skill level.

If you fail the chance, the sim receives one of five randomly selected tattoos.

yeah like what Twallan said, the tattoo skill affects only the percentage of both failure and success though the success rate has a higher percentage having a lower skill level will result in failure and fills the other sim with random tattoo.

In my opinion i wish they did something more to this hidden skill rather than just the percentage of success, like the higher skill level the more tattoos to be unlocked or something.

My sim purchased the chair and tattooed a pretty neighbor without having any skill and some random garbage appeared all over her, including this ugly round blob of something right between her Delphys. But he skilled to level 1 on this first time and when, after trying other stuff, he finally determined that he could try putting her back in the tattoo chair again, he could suddenly CHOOSE tattoos! So the erase choice was a godsend in this instance.

Well... That's a bit... odd. It's not like people who are new at tattooing just give you something random... ~_~ It'd be better if they did uglier versions of the tattoos or something. Or, like Alexa said, unlock more tattoos.
