So what exactly is a VENUE? And how can I build one?

Hello everyone
I've looked around the internet for some help figuring out what exactly the Sims 3 considers to be a venue, but I found mostly people asking help on how to play guitar on ten venues. My problem is actually very similar, but not quite the same. My sim wants to own three venues. I'm almost sure the theatre and stadium count as venues, as they have concerts from time to time. But what other places could be venues?
I built a (lame) community lot somewhat shaped like a theatre, made it a "visitors" lot and later a "hangout" lot. It's always empty, sims just ignore it '=)
So, anybody has any tips on that?

Well, Bernardo. A venue, I beleive, is any ownable lot. And thanks to Ambitions/Patch, Almost any communtiy lot is a venue. To fulfill this wish, I beleive you click on the computer/cell phone, select realestate, and buy an affordable lot. If I am wrong, someone please correct me. I hope I have helped you.

With WA, my concert hall ( outdoor concert lot, similar to the one you mentioned) was always buzzing with at least 8 sims and since Ambitions, they trickle to 2-3 at the most.

Maybe they changed some coding. Are you playing Twinbrook town? If you use awesome mod, make sure your nostalkers option is set to off.

Apparently adding a rabbithole will attract sims randomly.
I have the following installed and on my concert lot:Rabbitholes MTS (http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=376414)
You can hide these objects, they don't have to be visible. They will add maptags to your community lots.

I have these installed but haven't tried them yet.

I'm still troubleshooting, please let me know if you discover any magic tricks.

My main family rolls this wish quite often, I wait till all of the adult have it, then go to the computer and buy a lot. I have bought the bookstore, grocery, theater and several other lots, including parks and it has always counted toward the Own # Venues wish.

Wow, thanks a lot! That really helped. So apparently any community lot will do, good. I'll do that in a few minutes. I thought sims.wikia.com had some good information about the community lot options. For instance, they say that choosing "park" or "big park" set the amount of sims that will visit that lot and also gives them the "beautiful park" moodlet.
