Architect Renovation Issue

I've only come across a few people having this issue and I can't seem to find an answer (unless I'm just not looking hard enough!).

I had my sim join the architectural career and the when she tries to renovate it pulls from my family funds. I did NOT go over budget, the clients money remains untouched. It works reversely too, if I sell a piece of the clients furniture the money goes into my account! Therefore, none of the clients needs are ever marked off making renovations impossible. Any ideas of how to fix this?

Are you sure that you use the renovation option or you just go to buy mode by your self?

Just make sure that you don't do anything to actually push it into buy/build mode - let it come by itself. Another important thing is to see if there's a checklist - if not, you're NOT in renovation mode.
