Dominic Moiselle aged to teen in Platinum, having just made BFF with Honey Beare, the little girl who some of you may recall dancing with him in the Child thread. When I loaded FreeTime I discovered that his OTH is Music and Dance, so that suits. But right now he's just a little mind-boggled at the size of his hands.

He's mostly grown into his face, but I see his mother's overly-square jawline (I was playing in CAS when I made her and didn't realize how weird those jaws looked till I started playing her) still makes him look like he's got bolts holding his head on from certain angles.

Down the street, his other dance partner, new Romance teen Theodora Ottomas, is visiting the Hawkins girls and apparently giving their parents some attitude.

I expect she's miffed because she went there hoping to learn some racy secrets, given the Hawkins reputation. She tried desperately to flirt with her older neighbor, Gerry Mander, the other day and never quite brought it off. (I had some timing issues with his autonomous actions. He came home with one of her brothers and seemed to want to do anything else but talk to her.)

I've been having a hard time matching Lisandro Iana with anybody, but he's a Knowledge sim so I wasn't in any particular hurry. He apparently begs to differ. He spontaneously dropped by the Casa household, cornered Jovita, and gave her a romantic hug, although they're barely friends.

It's as if some higher power heard his desperate pleas and observed his pathetic attempts to hook other girls away from their established steadies, and took pity on him! I found the transgendered hairstyles and clothes in the downloads here just in time for the beginning of Naomi Gavigan's second week of teendom, the point where Mom stops controlling how kids look and dress. Naomi is a clone of her big brother Ezekial, and has similar taste in dates, clothes, and other things. She went out to get her hair done in the traditional Gavigan style (it just plain looks good on them, but doesn't help with my difficulty in telling them apart; I grew out her twin brother's hair and mussed it up for variety) and then dawdled at the Convenient Stores on the way home, where she ran into the new girl from across the street.

If it'd been three I'd have pursued it, but playables trump townies when available and I may have another use for Meadow down the line. So when Naomi, who is on the verge of going into the red and has been since before she grew to teen, picks up the phone to arrange for her first date ever that evening, she puts on her favorite brother's old sweater vest for luck and calls Justine.

So after a rough start during which Naomi spontaneously argued with her about coming out issues (Justine is committed to openness and Naomi is obviously dressed to blow the closet door off the hinges, but I figure the difficulty I've had with her aspirations is a symptom of her conviction that she can't tell Nathan and Mary because they'd freak), they wind up slow dancing and first kissing in the alley between Red's Diner and the Lost in Love Hedge Maze. And Naomi's at platinum for the first time since potty-training!

Not pictured: Eppie Curian, the original core sim for my neighborhood who turned out to be a lesbian, showed up at the diner, hovered around their table, and chatted with Naomi after Justine left. How perfect is that?

Jane is one of those sims that just gets better with age. She started out as a rather generic toddler, became a rather manic and dance-crazed kid, then grew into something awesome as a teenager. I can't leave her unsupervised: her bipolar approach to interacting with others swings wildly from jokes to arguing to noogies to hugs with absolutely no warning. Her best friend is Glozel "the Terrible" Howe, though they go from friends to not friends several times whenever they're around each other. I like to think they're part of the Mean Girl squad at Strangetown High. (Just wait til Jane finds out that Glozel's the one that started the chant of "Jane, Jane, she's insane: she's got magnets in her brain!" Sure, it doesn't make much sense... but it's CATCHY.)

Supposedly she's five points nice, but she prefers the grouchy side of the Force. (Which doesn't surprise me any: Jenny is like a teddybear filled with razor blades and PT9 is really kind of a grumpy old fart XD)

(For those of you not familiar with the American grade system: ninth graders are generally 14-15 years old. No way she should have been dating somebody on the verge of college. She was playing a pretty dangerous game here, since her oldest brother just married Emilio's oldest sister; but nobody ever quite got into a place where they could connect the dots. And she now either has to make up with Dominic, or find some other cover under which to go out at night with boys Peter and Samantha have never met.)

Theodora's not going to take that lying down, though. The up side is, having apparently made a whole bunch of mistakes with the first girl he ever went out with, he should have a lot fewer to deal with when he starts dating college girls.

The only girl there is Scott's girlfriend, Gabrielle O'Mackey, daughter of Jason and Violet. Her twin brother, Alexander, is right behind Scott (who's in the yellow open shirt). The other two teens are Gabe and Alexandra O'Mackey's twin boys, Evan (in the glasses) and Ian (redhead in the red sweater).

It was a good party, too, especially since it was there that Gabrielle agreed to go steady with Scott!

Okay, hearing her cry hurts worse than being slapped by her. But there's also a certain - relief.

As for Theodora - She cried so hard at the end of my session I went downslope to the Ottomas house and opened it up. Her mood's gold, she has wants related to the last boy (not Emilio; a completely different boy) she asked out, she has fears regarding unrelated subjects, and Dominic is deep in her Furious zone. She's fine. It's only poor Dominic, who didn't do a damn thing wrong, who's all depressed about it. All that hemming and hawing in the break-up animation is kind of adorable.

It's just not fair!

Meanwhile, downtown, Allegra and Martin Gorey like living next door to Castor and Jane Stacks, but it...bothers Martin just a little bit that his daughter Ruby looks up to their oldest boy Pollux so much. He reminds Martin way too much of his dad back in the old days at college.

Frank Munny (Green) and Harlan (in red) are both Popularity sims, so Frank is filling Harlan in on the cliques, cliches, and cool kids of Drama Acres Middle School. Gracie Hawkins and Frank's brother Mark, both Knowledge sims - a future mad scientist and Head of SCIA, respectively - apparently are having some sort of disagreement about the relative importance of the hard and social sciences, or possibly the interpretation of one of Simspeare's plays.

And here we see him display that he has inherited his father's improbable, distinctive chin shape. This chin is my primary reason for hesitation about making him the first gay male Hawkins in the history of ever, in order to match him with his best friend and perfect star sign match. His mother isn't eager to get pregnant again, but adopting toddlers isn't going to pass that chin along, is it? And I don't have a same-sex pregnancy hack (and am determined not to get one, because if men can have babies what's the point of sex differences at all?), so unless Harlan eventually acts as sperm donor for a lesbian couple, if I do match him with Miguel that chin is probably just - gone.

Ted Ottomas, rejoicing in having a room all to himself for the first time in his life after Tommy leaves for college! Pollux Stacks kept tripping over himself in his effort to impress girls (hey, how was he supposed to know the hot girl with the barbershop hair, sweater vest, and khakis was playing for the other side?), until he wised up and asked out his old friend Gracie Hawkins. Though not as clued-in and confident as her aunts - after all, her mother is Ginger nee Newson, Village Neurotic, not Kitty Hawkins, Baby Machine - Gracie has a number of advantages. She's not shy, she's got the pheremones, he's known her forever, and she's, um, stacked, so if you get to first base you feel like you're halfway to second. (Seriously, those have got to be C cups.)

Pollux throws a party for his little brother John when he turns teen. Kestrel Hawkins seems horrified at the idea of dancing with him. Fortunately, John isn't focused on girls like Pollux is. Having made only two friends in elementary school, he hopes to do better in middle school, and apparently his plan is to wow everybody by dressing sharp - that's the outfit he aged into. His turn-ons are facial hair and make-up, so he's likely to take awhile to sort out his dating preferences. Meantime, he needs to learn to dance. Kestrel's objection to him seems to be that he's got no rhythm.

Ashleigh Pitts-Upsnott picks herself up after the not-quite-fiasco of her first date and brings home a townie girl with whom she's at least on the same page. She can't afford to go out, but they have the run of the party room while Dad is upstairs distracting Mom from noticing the perfumed note that came in the mail today; and they progress quickly toward a first kiss. Dad encourages her to make friends with girls, as he knows what boys are like and doesn't want their filthy paws anywhere near his innocent little girl. Dads are so dense. (I'm sure Brittany's figured it all out.)

Around the corner, on Greaves Street, shy Edward Beare grows up without any fanfare. Alas, it was too close to my bedtime to take the time to line up a good picture of him coming downstairs which I could then post here with the caption "Here is Edward Beare, coming downstairs now, bump, bump, bump." The first thing he did as a teen was feed his baby sister a bottle and the second thing he did was make espresso. It's that kind of household. However, his equally-shy sister Honey invited over her only two friends - her boyfriend Dominic and Amanda Ruben - and their younger siblings, and he played a few rounds of "Don't Wake the Llama" with them, so he's not going into middle school all isolated like Honey did.

They share a starsign and an OTH, plus they're Knowledge and Family and have been friends since first grade. Since they're both black with brown hair I'm not sold on the match; still, his chipmunk cheeks and the absurdly-square-jaw gene in his family could liven up the bland prettiness she brings to the table as the result of being the child of Gavin Newson and a townie. She hasn't met Pollux yet, either. So we'll let this develop as chance and contingency dictate.

Katy bar the door, Marius Curian grew up dreamy! And since he hadn't given any clear aspirational indications during his childhood, I rolled and he's Romance. Proof that you don't need to look boring to look pretty - he's got his dad's honking big nose and his mom's triangular Eyebrows of Perpetual Surprise, and he still pulls it off. His OTH is music and he wants to be a Rock God, like his parents' friend Aunt Mary.

Although painfully shy themselves, the Curians threw a party for his birthday, inviting his friends and their relations. Thus it comes about that John Stacks finally meets the Munny boys.

I've been waiting for this ever since Jane Stacks (who was turned down for a date by Frank and Mark's father) and Castor Nova (who dated Frank and Mark's Ma - not Frank here's biological mother, obviously) started pumping out kids at the same time as Ernest and Sage Ann got pregnant. I'm finally going to be able to use a bit of dialog that's been hanging around in my head.
"Hey, Mark! Check it out! John's dad is the pretty frat boy!"
"His name was Castor and he was very nice." Mark's imitation of Sage Ann is pitch-perfect, and he rolls his eyes for good measure.
"What are y'all talking about?" John asks.
See, the full "How Ma and Pa Got Together" story is told and retold in the Munny household; but Castor's history of heartbreak is a closed book to his kids.

Frank Munny hosted his first big party, which was a rousing success. Harlan Hawkins there played the bass practically the whole time. Frank made best friends with Marius, who is his Ma's cousin. Frank's a little older, but they got to know each other in elementary school, when the same people as picked on Frank's skin tone picked on Marius's nose. Frank didn't stand for either. It is Frank's opinion that these two and his brother Mark (three OTHs for Music; I think it's the most common one in the hood) should start a garage band and he should be manager. Alas, none of them has a garage.

Maddox Moiselle, though far from retiring, hesitated to signal to his old friend Annie Newson that he's looking at her differently; but she, being a Family sim, had no such qualms. They had a little accident trying to suck face, there, but it was soon sorted out. Mom, tired of the hairstyle she's had since college, took her and her little sister to the beauty store and they all got new haircuts, which is why she looks different here than a few entries back.

People are always going on about how homely the Ottomases are, but really only Sharla is truly difficult to find the right hairstyle for. This is the youngest of mine, Samantha and Peter's final daughter, Petra. I think she's the belle of this generation. She's a Pleasure sim, Capricorn with nine or ten nice points, an OTH of Tinkering, and turn-ons for blond hair and mechanical points. And who's that she's meeting the first time her (college bound next rotation) big brother and sister Ted and Theodora take her downtown?

Ruby tries on a new outfit - one that has a couple of little arty touches, but won't make anybody laugh at her on the school bus - and takes a good long gander at her face. Ashleigh's right - she should lose the hat. And the makeup - it's all very well for a little girl to paint her face, but all a middle-schooler needs is lip gloss. There's nothing she can do about the glasses right now, though. Then she starts to head over to the rec center, and this guy starts talking to her. In the rain. His name's Miguelito. He's kind of nice. And she doesn't know how to end the conversation, so she gets soaking wet in her new clothes and has to go straight home. Where Allegra takes one look at her and demands to know what on earth that is she's wearing and what has she done to her face? Life is hard.

We've had a spate of birthdays up at Newsons' Corners, the little bit of Drama Acres where the Newson children have been building their houses all around the old farmhouse where they grew up. Gallagher's girl Minerva had cousins and friends over for her birthday party.

All the way Downslope at the Gavigans', there's some major life events going on, too. Miguel's birthday party was yesterday, which climaxed with the birth of his little sister Deborah. Now it's Mary and Nathan's Golden Wedding, and tomorrow the twins leave for college! All this calls for a big party, with all their friends in the neighborhood. Miguel feels, unexpectedly, a little shy of all these people he's known his whole life. Harlan was right - everything looks different once you're in middle school. And Uncle Jeremiah's right, too - that applies particularly to Hawkinses. He expected all that.

Brother and sister, Kyle and Tanya (named after her grandmother) Thimble. Gen 3 of my Thimble legacy. They're parents are Joe Thimble and townie Allyn... I cannot at all remember her last name. I changed her name to Ally though.
Anyways, Kyle is the older sibling, infact 7 days older than Tanya. I sent them out to community lots to try and find partners for them both, but all they want to do is entertain and talk with eachother.

Kestrel's homely, and an aunt, and lives all the way out in Drama Acres and is looking back with a steady warm gaze that's almost like holding hands. "Want to hang out a bit?"
"I've got to go catch the bus," says Kestrel. "Promised my sister I'd be back in time to give her and Ma a break with the baby. See you round."

Miguelito Casa has been wanting to date since he turned teen, and today he's taken the bull by the horns and asked Ruby Gorey, the cutest, silentest girl in his business ed class, bowling. The house I spent her parents' money on is too good a party venue for patience, so I used the teleporter cat and had it be one of those "let's invite the whole school" parties, where invitations are distributed to everybody in the class. I did limit myself to either teens/kids who actually live in Drama Acres, or are connected to one of her existing friends. She and Frank Munny are getting along Very Well Indeed. Petra Ottomas there is learning the hula from Frank's brother Mark, whose mission in life is to turn the entire population of the Drama Acres MSA into hula-dancing fools.

Ruby Gorey finds Minerva Newson surprisingly easy to talk to. Minerva's crushing on her BFF Marius Curian and Ruby's crushing on Pollux Stacks, but accepted a date from Miguelito Casa and kissed him - so you know they've got a lot of serious stuff on their minds here.

But her real true forever friend is Petra Ottomas, whom she met through her cousin Amanda. Petra is as shy as Ruby and chickened out of trying for her first date, though she promised Theodora before she left for college that she'd call a boy instead of waiting for one to call her. Ruby invited Petra and her parents over for dinner and had a great time with her friend, but Allegra and Martin could not have a good conversation with Peter and Samantha to save their lives. I think Samantha may have called their decorating scheme "interesting" in the wrong tone of voice. It's a shame I'm not better at taking pictures - the way Ruby's long nose emerges from her protective veil of hair here is just too precious.

Today Jonathan Nowak became a fortune-seeking teenager. He´s the biological son of Aldric Davis and my custom sim Wilma Nowak. However, when I recreated my neighborhood I ignored all maxis-made sims (with the exception of Stella Terrano), so right now he and his brother Marco actually only have a mother. But that´s okay - she´s a great mother :lol: .

Minerva Newson and Marius Curian have been friends a long time, and now they're taking it further, each convinced that the other is The One. For now - I already have a marriage set up between their two families' noses, rendering this match genetically unnecessary, and it's only one bolt, and he's Romance, so they're probably in for some rough times. Minerva can't sing worth a darn, but Marius is besotted enough right now to find it more endearing than embarrassing.

Ashleigh Pitts-Upsnott takes Kestrel Hawkins bowling and is uncharacteristically diffident about moving on her - they actually bowl. She isn't like Ashleigh's other dates. Or her best friend Gracie. She isn't like anybody, except Kestrel. Ashleigh finds herself talking about coming out, and whether Kestrel's done it, and why she can't bring herself to talk to Mom and Dad about it. "Well, but why shouldn't you talk to them?" Kestrel asks. "If it's bothering you. Mine think it's kind of weird, but when I told them I had a date with a girl they just told me to have a good time."
"So, what, you didn't work up to it? That's brave!"
"I'm not brave," Kestrel demurs. "It's just that Ma and Pa aren't anybody for me to be afraid of. They love me. Of course they're going to take me the way I am."

Madeleine Moiselle-Estic didn't want a birthday party. She told her big brother Dominic that. But he couldn't wrap his head around it and invited a bunch of people over anyway. She was okay once things got going and she'd washed down her birthday cake with her first espresso. That face will take a little getting used to. I'll see what I can do with it with hair and makeup. This angle doesn't show the upturn in the nose as much as some others - she occasionally looks as though she has a pig snout. But I think she'll be cute with the right glasses eventually.

The Ottomas house is always chaotic, so David likes to take Sharla across the road to the little rest area/playground/parklike thing on the median to get a little peace and quiet and fun. It's a great place to meet people. Like, this is the CO's kid. Poor guy's stuck with a stupid name. His dad probably makes him wear that face paint, too.

Miguelito Casa tried to round up a bunch of kids to go ice skating with, but only the lovely Ruby Gorey and this guy Marius came along. He barely knows Marius, but he hangs with the cool kids and is worth cultivating. He and Ruby spend a lot more time shooting pool than they do ice skating, but she lets Miguelito hug her so he's happy. Little does he know...her old friend Pollux Stacks asked her out and got to second base, and he just introduced her to another Romance sim. It's not that Ruby isn't a Nice Girl. It's just that she's really shy and is afraid to say "no." Plus, crushing on Pollux since infancy. Miguelito himself is a perfect starsign and aspiration match for Marius's girlfriend...which doesn't mean I'm going to get complex teen soap opera, just that it's a distinct possibility.

Dominic Estic-Moiselle on his last date with Honey Beare before shipping off to college - the first offspring of the first crop of college grads out of Drama Acres to do so. A pretty momentous occasion, and he feels it. Honey, the first second gen child of the premade Greeks, won't follow for a few more days, and his first girlfriend, Theodora Ottomas, is already on campus living it up. The future is uncertain, and he refuses to make Honey any promises. She's never had eyes for anybody but him, and he finds this deeply scary.

Speaking of little sisters...I knew Madeleine would clean up good. She mostly likes middle school, since she can go places by herself now, but it's confusing. Dominic and Maddox knew exactly what they wanted at this age. She just wants to have a good time, and isn't sure how to go about it. Also, it never mattered before whether anybody liked her or not, but now...now it matters. At least it matters if boys do.

She has appointed herself family plumber and is taking shop. She and middle child Maddox wanted a car, so their parents bought a junker and told them it was theirs as soon as they fixed it up. Maddox, who wants to be a doctor, is disgusted, but Madeleine is delighted. Of course, she needs to buy clothes she can work on a car in; this white thing is cute, but not exactly suitable for a shade tree mechanic. Fortunately, that last date with Honey netted Dominic a Mong vase. They already had one (a memento of parental dating), so I sold it and a bunch of date flowers and this family finally has a little economic margin for keeping a Pleasure teen out of the red.

These two were born two days apart, their fathers have been best friends since childhood, and they were perfect starsign matches, so I went ahead and had both of them flirt other guys, but I was anxious not to push things so I rolled their aspirations randomly (Harlan Popularity, Miguel Pleasure) and never told them to flirt each other. But at the end of Miguel's little outing with The Crowd, when he said good-bye, they did this on their own, so - okay, then. I knew a Hawkins wasn't going to sit around waiting for me to make up his mind for him, and if I don't get my First Kiss video it's no skin off his nose.

I wouldn't normally bother posting a picture this bad, but the occasion needs to be publicly commemorated. This is Gracie Hawkins. In her family, if you break it, you fix it. She's in her cousin Annie's house after an outing (hence the swimsuit), and when she used their bathroom she clogged up the toilet and autonomously unclogged it! No influencing involved! I'm sure her dad (the one who says "Don't think of it as an exploding sink. Think of it as a learning opportunity!) is proud of her. I know I am!

John invited the kids who made the GSA cool, Harlan Hawkins and Miguel Gavigan, to his party, and they actually showed up! His efforts to cut Harlan out to dance with him aren't particularly well rewarded though. These two haven't had a date yet, but they act like an established couple.

Interestingly enough, this is about the last thing they do that is connected to ACR, but not the last romantic social they share autonomously.

Drusilla and Levera grew up into teens, and they still look creepily alike. Drusilla, the Family sim, is the one closest to the camera and with the more pointed up nose. Levera, the Pleasure, is the one furthest from the camera and has a more pointed down nose. They're both straight, which is funny. I kind of expected Levvy to be at least bisexual. Heh.

Sarah Ruben, the second in my statistical fluke run of girls, realizes she doesn't know how to smustle. Taurus, Pleasure, she likes guys in face paint and glasses. Do you know how hard it is to find a guy willing to wear face paint in Drama Acres? Her mom won't let her wear make-up yet, but never fear - a college graduate will open up a beauty store next rotation, and I'm going to have the Generation break it in.

Alta Mira Starchild, the latest addition to Drama Acres Middle School, could care less who, if anybody, she finally matches up with. She's a Scorpio Knowledge sim and has grades to make. Highly logical, artistic types have a shot with her, but she's not going to go running to meet them. And of course the game aged her up into a red shirt. The game always ages my redheads into outfits that clash with their hair.

Miguelito Casa (one of the two boys making Ruby's heart race) feels very mature and sophisticated, drinking coffee in a crowd that includes big wheels of the local arts scene like Ruby's mother Allegra, Dr. Martin Gorey, and all their classy friends.
