Can anybody tell me why the show Glee is popular?

The same reason Fame and High School musical were popular. People like underdogs, pop singing and rich/attractive teenage drama, so it stands to reason that they'd like them all together. Personally, I freaking hate walking into the kitchen and hearing that crap rape my eardrums (in the bad way) from next door.

I tried to watch Glee 2 times, and lasted for about 5 minutes both times.

I liked the first series because the plot lines were funny, but it lost me from series two onwards because it's just empty.
