View Full Version : Fixing appearance of faces

I have been trying to work with a new mesh. It's really quite simple -- it's a cube. I want three of them so I can use the same texture over and over again.

In Milkshape, it looks like three objects. I want it to look like one. I don't know how to fix this.

This problem is really blocking me on a number of projects. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

More information would be good, what are you trying to make?

What object are you using as a clone?
What you have there is huge, it's over the grid lines and what do you mean by using the same texture over and over again?

This is not recommended in all cases I guess, but since it's a cube and not more complex item, select the item and press ctrl+shift+W to unweld the seams. (or select all, go to vertex menu and select unweld).

It is not cloned from anything, yet. I created this box in MIlkshape, then duplicated it and moved the duplicate to the left, duplicated it and moved the duplicate to the right.

Yes, it is huge, which is why I want to repeat the texture. It's basically a large flat structure -- a roof so to speak -- to be used in CAW. The texture is not particularly complex. But given the size of this item, if I used only one texture, it would become fairly blurry. When I uv map it. One of the squares goes over the texture, then the next square is mapped ver the same part of the texture, and then the final square is mapped over the same texture. Here is a top view of the project after it has been textured:

The texture is a simple corrogated metal:

This seems to be a reasonable way to make very large items without having them become blurry.

Welding and unwelding the vertices seems to make no difference. Adjusting the normals seems to make no difference. Smoothing seems to make no difference.

I suspect there is a real simple fix. I just don't know what it is.

Tick autosmooth in groups tab
regroup a side in a seperate meshgroup and choose weld together right after.
Do this for all sides
Untick autosmooth
regroup all meshgroups back into one.
From the tools menu pick the model cleaner, click no on all popups
Easiest way i could think of

To make the textures alligne properly you best flip the 2 outer boxes
