View Full Version : Unexpected transparency problems on hair mesh

Hi,
I spent many nights on my new hair mesh, and everything works just fine until I test it in game. I know about transparency problems and I did everything exactly as Anubis360 wrote in his tutorial. It usually helps, but it's a second hair mesh with which I have this problem. I made it the same way as I made all my hair meshes, but only this one (and another one before it) has transparency problems where it shouldn't. It's a very simple mesh, it has 3 layers and one layer as undersides.
Maybe i need more layers? In which order do I need to regroup them?

Can you show a pic of how does this mesh look on Milkshape?

Here it is, it was originally created with 3ds, later imported in to Milkshape to assign bones.

Since i have seen the mesh earlier but not sure if your still using the same uvmap, there is one part outside of the uvmap, did you update or could this be the issue?
There are also 2 parts mapped on top of eachother(left bottom corner), maybe those cause the error?

I don't know, but in all of my meshes I used the same spot on the uvmap to map several parts of my mesh and never had issues about it. I have read one hair tutorial on TSR and it said, that it’s not strictly neccessary that every piece of hair has its own unique place in the UV map.

Hmmm... Would you mind uploading the non-regrouped version and the texture here? Or maybe you can send it to me on a PM? I could give you a hand, if you want me to, of course.

No, I haven't uploaded the mesh yet. And probably I won't be able to do it, because I don't have my PC for these holidays. So if Anubis360 is willing to help me, I can upload it in a couple days. Any help would be appreciated :)

P.S. Is there a way to attach files in a PM?

No but you can use Mediafire/zShare/Filserve/etc to upload a file and then put the link.

Ok, it's getting weirder and weirder. Another new mesh has the same issue. I'm starting to think that it's not my meshes that are wrong, it could be Workshop or Milkshape. When I try to make my mesh with DABOOBS, the game crashes when it's selected.
Maybe someone knows what could be the problem here? I have 3 hair meshes which would be uploaded by now if they wouldn't have this issue. :help:

I could fix it and I sent you a PM with the possible problems. Hopefully you'll be able to find out what's the issue! :)

Once more time I need to ask something. What exactly Normal Merge tool does?
I've never use it on my older meshes and everything was just fine, but this tool helped me to fix some of my new meshes. It works only on few of them and I don't understand why, it looks like this tool helps only when I use it on regrouped mesh. Someone correct me if I'm wrong
