I saw many people write their opinion, or review, or just tell what was their thought about Generations. I saw many people get sooooo excited. I am also get excited, but I must wait longer to get it, as my birthday present nearly after the launch. So, do you excited about Generations? What new additions make you freak/impatient/etc. the most??? For me, the teens prank and the adult's parties...

I'm super excited, though it's been a pain figuring out how I'm going to scrap up the money for it and my niece's birthday gift.
I'm excited for the dress up box, the imaginary friend, the new toys for kids, the little park toy for toddlers (a reason to take my tots out of the house!), trying out the daycare career (though I'm worried about glitches for that), and sooooo much more!!!

The thing I'm most excited about is the slip 'n' slide. Soo cool! The dinosaurs are so cute !

Most excited about bunkbeds with real animations (watched IGN preview of Generations Sims actually climb the bunkbed ladder up into the bed instead of floating up from the bottom bunk like they do in custom TS1,Ts2 and TS3 bunk and loftbeds)

i cant wait to check all the new interactios. but also afraid i will get bored with the new expansion, as was the case with previous.
as it is right now, i havent played for months (and i miss it) so i'm keeping my fingers crossed for more entertainment in my simmies lives, as it will be for me.

I'm going to wait until other people buy it before I get it, if I get it at all.

No diving boards, but especially no wedding arches or cakes, were one of my biggest disappointments in TS3. I loved making weddings and stuff and this just really made me unhappy. Although, from the sounds of it, toasting to champagne won't be back. >.x

I don't know if I'll ever really use the rebellion/grounding features. I've always raised really nice sims. Maybe this will help me break out of my shell, or maybe I'll just never use the feature?

I always exciting and agree with any TS3 EPs. Whatever the theme is, as long as there are new features, interactions and contents.

The Sims series is very limited, with the "weird" features and unrealistic things. I don't care about what kind of the features and interaction is, as long as it good and fun. yeah!

For some reason, I'm really excited about private schools. Maybe I just don't like kids that much, and I'm excited to get them out of my hair? XD But seriously, I'm super excited to have more things to do with the younger generations. As it is now, babies and toddlers are boring, kids are just kind of useless since they can't even gain skill points in all of the areas, and teenagers are basically just shorter adults. I'm hoping for more differentiation between the age stages with Generations. :)
Also, if there's music as an extracurricular, I hope there's more instruments! I mean, you can't have a music club with just guitarists, can you? (I don't have Late Night. :()

Hmm, I guess my favorite features would be (more or less in order):

- Memories, and romantic reputations
- Midlife Crisis... sounds like challenging gameplay for adults
- Imaginary Friend
- New party types

I think I'll be doing pretty much all of it though :) At first I wasn't too enthralled by pranks, but now that I've read more about it I realize that there are going to be rewards for pulling them off... and the possibility of more conflict in families should make family life more interesting (I also tend to make kinda bland families where everybody's nice, currently).

Objects-wise: tree house, costume trunk, chemistry set also sound really fun :)

Personally I am not going to buy Generations (or not install it) until AwesomeMod and Twallan's mods are updated for generations. The first few days I will just listen to random screams on forum by people running to bugs, glitches, or typical kaboom crashes by incompatible CC (like happened with a few EP back).

Other than that, I can't wait for the new EP. I don't like everything about it, but I still have to get it. Just like how most of us shopping for books, we basically paid for 2-3 chapters that probably made up 20% of the books, if that.

The most exciting things for me would be:

-Romantic reputations
-Video cameras
-Filters
-Strollers
-All the new playground equipment
-Spiral stairs (And kids and teens being able to slide down them)
-The return of epic pillow fights!!

Although I have a feeling the shininess of Generations will wear off quickly, it's definitely going to be the most useful. I can't wait to have a sims game where it's fun to play as all ages and not just adults.

Uh... I thought weddings - arches and cakes are coming back with this EP or am I reading this post wrong? I'm pretty sure they're coming back with this EP. As to diving boards, well.. we've all been asking for that since Day 1.. looks like we'll have to wait a bit more.

Mostly, I'm excited for this EP because it's more family interactions, got the strollers, Spiral stairs, bunk beds, sleeping bags... basically all the new stuff :) But, I'm waiting for all the reviews before I go out and get it. I don't have AwesomeMod or Twallan's hacks but I still like to wait. Usually we get it on launch day and I wait until I read all the reviews. My husband just installs his and starts playing but he doesn't have any CC or hacks. I can watch him play and see what's in it :)

One word: Memories!

Im just concerned with how they are going to work. Like, will only active families record memories? Or will inactive families record important milestones too? I always thought memories would make more sense for Sims 3 given the story progression element, you leave families alone for a week but if any important happens its all there in their memories for you to check on.

haricots

Until now, the information given by EA (or someone-whose-name-I-forgot) said that memories works only for active family. But I agree with you, chronicboredom

I'm excited for it, not sure when I'll be able to get it though :( I wanted to get it as soon as it came out cause that's a week after my birthday and figured I'd get it as a late birthday present for myself. But starting a new job soon and once I start there not sure when I'll get my first paycheck so....yeah.

Even without a computer to really put it on, I'll probably buy it the first day it comes out because I am weak and work in a place where it will constantly be on display as I walk to and from the back room. I won't be able to play it, though, until I can afford to buy a new computer, so it'll have to go on credit.

I am most looking forward to, though, the memories and the strollers. I can take or leave the imaginary friend. It'll be cool but then again, I don't particularly care for the supernaturals in either Sims 3 and even back to Sims 2. I probably won't be doing much with the friend anyway. I don't really care about the pranks: they'll be cool but once you've done them than hey, you've done them. I love the idea of the video camera, can't wait to see how that'll work out in the game.

Until now, the information given by EA (or someone-whose-name-I-forgot) said that memories works only for active family.

I'm very interested in this question too, and I haven't seen a DEFINITIVE answer on this... but I have seen several quotes from EA which strongly implied to me that only active families will get memories. And specifically, when they were asked whether existing families would get them, they said no (that is, memories retroactive to before the EP was installed). If they were giving memories to non-active families, it should be straightforward to give memories retroactively, which is why I infer from that that it isn't happening.

It is possible that our story progression gurus may be able to mod in a feature like this, though :-) Though there may be performance concerns... since every memory has a snapshot. And a sim is limited to 300 memories each... which could add up fast if it's the whole town, especially since everyday events like being late to work seem to lead to memories.

Anyway, I think we'll just have to wait for release to find out the whole story on that!

I was meaning that this is probably the main reason I'm purchasing Generations - because it WILL have these things. No wedding arches were my biggest disappointment in TS3 and this will remedy that.

I love the new family type interactions, new ways to play with the toddler. Video taping milestones, hopefully taking pictures to tack on the fridge and walls. I will love inviting the grandparents over to see the videos and reminisce about old times. I am a soft hearted person, so I know it will finally make me go aww.

I will be taking a look around the town while my sims are skilling or whatever and seeing what new things sims will be doing from the Generations EP. Since I can't wait to play it, I set up a brand new Sunset Valley just for playing because my hack folder will be taken out of the Mods folder. LOL, I will replace it when my favorites are updated.

Oh my, I have to play that world with EA's story progression, Sim gods help me.

W-what? Just 300? That sounds like barely enough on Epic timescale - especially if trivial stuff is recorded as you suggest. I wonder what will hapen when a Sim hits the limit.

Personally I got everything I wanted back with Late Night (Vampires) so each Expansion pack that returns old features now is just gravy. Memories are something I mourned the loss of so i'm happy they are back. Weather (including snow), pets, and werewolves and i'm set as far as these things go.

Being honest this expansion doesn't have too much that interests me. Strikes me as a filler pack that is putting stuff in that really could have been part of the base game. It looks nice though and i'm sure i'll pick it up... just as soon as the first patch for it is released and doesn't make the game implode.

I'm assuming you can delete memories, since you can add them. Can get rid of less important ones. Haven't seen that officially, though.

I'm hoping that might be the case. I know that a lot of people would have liked that feature in Sims 2. I'm looking most forward to the additional interactions among family members. I've pretty much suspended playing Sims 3 until this expansion comes out. Most of the information I've gotten about the Expansion has been through members on this site. A fact that I'm thankful for.

i'm passing the time by having my Sim doing the World Adventures stuff since I don't know when I can get the expansion. I got bored of the normal grind of working, socializing (lather, rinse, repeat lol) (she's just a painter and writes novels as well) so I figured I'd use that aspect of the game again for a change. She's Visa level 3 in China now so just want her to get enough money together to buy a home in China.

I'm actually now a bit less excited about generations than I was a month ago, because there is only a certain amount of times I can be like OMG we are getting dating!!! The first month is the best when the new info is released, but now all the interviews and gaming events just circulate the same info. The excitement will come back when people get the game and start playing and report about their games, and then when I get to play myself.

But right, I am not going to install it until AM and Twallan's mods are updated for it. Playing without Overwatch is suicidal.

Twallan generally updates his mods within hours of release, so that shouldn't be an issue :)

Awesomemod takes longer, due to its core-ness I suppose. Or possibly Pes's extreme old age ;)

I pre-ordered it and have the cash in hand for it (hopefully it comes with a card so I can finally install Barnacle Bay), any guide and a new copy of Ambitions (back of CD is scratched and won't load). Problem is that I might only be reading for awhile until I get the extra cash on hand to upgrade my notebook to a gaming notebook I saw for right around $1000.

I know. *snickers* I am expecting to have my copy by Sunday, usually happens that way. I know I can't get out of spending Memorial Day with my family, but will be thinking about leaving early to go home and play my game. If I don't get the game until Tuesday, still will be leaving early for home, so I can pick up my copy Tuesday morning. :)

I just pre-ordered today, it will come out on 2.6, which is a holiday here. So basically if I'm lucky (which I'm not) I might get it on 1.6, but most likely 3.6. Who knows, it might even be Monday before it comes. I was hoping it would have come before the holiday because then I could have installed it, and spent the day updating the mods, then wait for awesome to be updated and play.

Oh I know. I'm very disappointed in their choice of occult. I would have liked to see zombies.

I see witches and wizards coming out with an EP that's magic-related somehow, so I'm not sure if that would have fit.

Werewolves seem to be a better candidate for Pets, whenever that comes out. Evidence strongly suggests this would happen in October, though we really can't be sure until an official announcement is made.

I thought it wasn't coming out until Tuesday? How are some of you getting it on Sunday or Monday?

The pranks are probably what I'm least interested in. Oh yeah, imaginary friends are the second least interesting feature for me! Overall though I am really interested in this EP because I feel the sims and their relationships have been way too wooden and sterile and I'm hoping this will help put some level of 'emotion' back into them. I want to actually care about my sims again, and I want them to look like they care about each other! is that so wrong? ;)

If someone is not a 'sim relationship' player (for lack of a better way to phrase that), I can understand why this EP might not seem very interesting. Sadly, though, the entire Sims 3 game has been rather repetitive, with limited play value IMO. I couldn't tell you the last time I visited a vacation world, and I mod out the stars and vamps. :p

That said, I am still trying to play it my way, because there is nothing else like it on the market today.

I've found that if you read the pre-release info for a game carefully and critically, you can get a pretty precise idea of exactly what's in it, and what to expect. Particularly previews written by fansites and players who have had a chance to try it, rather than EA press releases and big gaming website previews. I'd suggest heading over to Simprograms and checking out some of what's been said, if you're in doubt. http://www.simprograms.com/

In the case of Generations, probably the most complete and detailed coverage was at the Italian site Edenstyle (previews written in English). http://www.edenstyle.it/expansion-packs-generations/the-sims-3-generations-preview.html

Folks who are surprised by the contents of Sims games... have not been paying attention ;) Either that, or they've been paying attention to the wrong sources: propaganda, speculation and/or wishful thinking, rather than reporting from people with direct experience.

OLS has some pretty sweet stuff in it -- especially if you like hot tubs ;) If I didn't already have it, I would totally go for that deal.

I thought it wasn't coming out until Tuesday? How are some of you getting it on Sunday or Monday?

A game ALWAYS ships prior to its release date, so that it's in stores or on players' doorsteps on that day. Theoretically, stores aren't supposed to sell it earlier, and shippers shouldn't be shipping it to arrive earlier, but there are always some that do. And generally there isn't a big deal made of it except for really big releases... enforcement of the rules tends to be pretty lax when it comes to EPs.

I was salivating and trying to talk him into letting me have a copy by Friday, but he told me that he would let me have it Sunday. I'm actually quite happy about this. I actually miss the TS2 ghosts, and don't like playing TS3 ghosts at all, but I do think they look cool, and would like to be one, but not interested enough to be one for a long time. So being able to become a ghost for a short while, is great to explore this option but not having to be one for ever.

I wonder can your private investigator, or klepto become a ghost and steal your neighbors TV.

Why? What happened??? :wtf: :wtf: :wtf:It's complicated, but I don't have enough money myself, and my mom is already paying for my bus pass this money with her Friday pay, so she's reluctant to part with more money (despite me being able to pay her back on Tuesday!) I'll keep working on her, I do have a pretty good puppy face XP

I'm not anymore excited for it than I was when we got that leaked sentence.

I do wait to see what the patch adds, though. Hopefully the few things that would actually make this EP worth $15 so I never have to spend any money. :)

The only thing I'm aware of, which will be added by this patch level (regardless of whether you will have this EP) is a slightly better type of sorting for objects. Instead of "Show Custom Content Only," it would also be able to show things that are just from specific EPs or SPs.

It seems it will be slightly better than what we have now, but not by much.

I wish it were instead possible to "assign" each object to user-defined groups, and be able to show just specific groups, if that makes sense. Or be able to sort by something aside from price in ascending order (the current way of doing things, which is from cheapest to most expensive). As someone who builds and creates far more than he plays, this is something that I would be able to appreciate very much.

I'm hoping it will provide a framework for a modder to expand on this, to make sorting even better, though if it were even possible, someone would have to take the leap and attempt it.

Geez I know I should have taken a screenshot of that EPIC moment. I mean they know that it's illegal, they should know this site stays on EA's good side. I can't believe that just happened...freakin' halarious...

I am getting this the day it comes out. I am so excited! The only problem I have is the fact that I have to reinstall all of my 39mb of mods, btw, i have objects that are in the mod folder like windows, doors and computers, will i have to reinstall those to?! I am hoping it is more like the new interaction or awesome mod kind or stuff.

There was a leaked patch that came around yesterday or the day before. Either way the patch came with memories, age adjustment, etc.

So EA's practically giving away the good stuff for free. Did they think I'd pay $39.99 for a stroller? I like the stroller, but it's not that important, and it's really the only other thing I care about in this EP. Also the body hair, but I have my suspicions as to whether it actually looks good, and also as to whether it will be added in the release patch or not.

Got my copy of it, but I have a problem with DPC latency on my computer, so I can't play yet.

I just got my copy. Let's see what we have.

Wow, Generations sounds so much better in Polish. :D Pokolenia. I like that.

I'm downloading my german digital copy right now!!!
The Patch is working fine for me and I hope, the Add On will also work without problems.
I don't know, why EA translated the name of this EP, because, everyone knows, what "Generations" means.
In german, they call it "Lebensfreude". (enjoyment of life)
Oops, I read, someone has mentioned this already.

Downloading the game is really painfull.

My copy and my sister's have just dropped through the letter box. I've installed mine already and I'm just doing hers for her as a surprise. She's out at the moment so when she comes back I'll have installed Late Night and Generations for her. ^.^
Excited about trying out Generations now though. :D
