I was wondering, would I need to delete all of my stuff that is in my mods folder, along with the custom objects that are in the mods folder, or the ones that actually change the way the game is playes. :help:

I would suggest removing any objects, core mods, slider hacks, and anything that changes the game itself. Leave clothing, hair, houses, and items. Back up your saved games.
Do the install, start the game, and check on the CC you left. If it shows up, good!
If your using Anything by awesome mod, or twallen, you need to remove those, as the game probably won't even make it to start up. When i installed night life, i forgot to remove those, and the game would crash on start up. Removed them, and it was perfect.
Wait for the core mods you like to use to be updated, then update them, and add them to your game. Then, going ten at a time, add everything else back, with a game start between each one.
Download Delphy's dashboard, and use it to tell you exactly which ones are core mods. A few i wasn't expecting to be core mods, were indeed core mods. It's pretty helpful, actually.

Remove any mods, CAS content will be fine and probably most build/buy stuff too. Just check around the forums, I'm sure a thread will be popping up any moment now to discuss what mods work/don't.

As an aside.. how long does it usually take for Awesome and Twallen to update? If memory serves correctly, Twallen is usually quicker than Awesome, right? I dont get paid until next Friday, but I'm guessing no one is gonna have a core update by then... but I would be all to happy to be wrong!

Depends on what mods and CC you have. Anyway, don't delete what you installed. Just move them to another directory (where TS3 wouldn't look). This is important since it's possible you might have downloaded many things, from many places (I don't know how much CC or how many mods you have, or where you got them all). It's silly to look for them all again.
Script and XML mods are likely to survive a patch level update. The only reason they might not, is if the thing they alter is somehow changed in the higher patch level. But most objects don't seem to change from patch to patch. For example, I doubt that celebrity status will be changed in the new patch, so if you have a mod that changes the difficulty of attaining celebrity level, that is likely to work fine. Or a mod that changes the time of sunrise or sunset. I doubt that function will have changed (in fact, I doubt that particular feature will ever change unless Seasons/Weather are introduced).
Also, this is from personal experience, but I have updated to newer patch levels yet did not uninstall Overwatch or even MasterController. Despite this, TS3 started up as expected even after the new patch. So I would leave Overwatch installed. However, that statement should not be taken to mean it's fine to never update that. You should still update it to the latest version as Twallan releases them.
Now Twallan's ErrorTrap and AwesomeMod are truly core mods, and thus insist upon a specific patch level. Therefore, you must uninstall those before you update to the latest patch level.

There is really no knowing what a particular patch/EP is gonna break -- Nightlife, for instance, unexpectedly broke all custom windows and doors. And Generations seems like it touches more existing gameplay systems than most EPs. So I would definitely move everything out to start, and put stuff back very selectively and gradually.

As Benco said, most of Twallan's mods aren't core ;) And, because of that, he's not forced to include everything in one megamod like Pescado is, so he can update one thing at a time. He has a great track record for fast updates, but there's always the possibility that some radical code rewrite will throw a spanner in the works.

AwesomeMod will definitely be fielding an update by Friday. Because I don't get to actually play the game until I do. No one needs it more than I do, and I don't get to simply wait for someone else to do it like you do. :P

I would remove the entire Mods folder before installing, then slowly add stuff back after it is finished and you know the game works. But hacks almost always need to be updated. Twallan is very fast though :)

I keep my Mods Folder organised like this. All I have to do is delete the sub folder: Mods. Quite easy, huh? :)

I understand that, and I didn't mean to sound rude or unappreciative. I appreciate what you do with the Awesome Mod, and realize it takes time to release updates for it. I look forward to seeing the new version when you can get it out.

To know Pes is to appreciate his grumpiness for what it is LE. Don't take it personal :)

Sorry to crash the thread but I have a question that is related. So now I know that I have to remove Awesome Mod before I install Generations, but do I also have to remove the framework? Could someone help a gal out?

The framework has nothing to do with anything. The mods are the only things you need to stray away from while installing.
