View Full Version : Some questions on Tomb building

I got some questions that needs answering... :call:

1.How exactly do you name mummies that spawn from sarcophagi. As I've seen in the tab "Show Object Status", there is a MummyName: No Name, MummyGender: Male and the mummy from China that is named "Dong Huo Scourge of the Three Kingdoms", I bet that there's a way to name them, I just don't know how.

2.How to make the soulpeace statue act like its original counterpart in the sphinx-cleansing mummy curses, given that there are no interaction to make the Sim pray for it to cleanse him/her. Is there a specific cheat or is the sphinx the only location that allows this interaction.

3.How to assign a lot as tomb in the town. I see that you can only do that in Egypt/France/China, but maybe, you know, a cheat or something. My computer lags a lot and it is quite a pain moving between places. I just want to cram everything in one place to save time.

4.How to fix the glitch( I don't know whether it is) that when you go downstairs, the objects on the level above still shows. I placed a boulder on the upper level and when I scroll down to the lower level, the thing is still there, floating in mid-air, looking extremely annoying. :(

5.I assign a chest to be star-locked. However, when asked for, my sim just go and open it. It is not locked like those in EA tombs. How do we fix this?

6.Can you spawn an NPC that acts like a special merchant, like those in Egypt/China/France, the one that sells you Mummy snacks, nectars and stuffs...

7.What exactly is the difference when using a processor, what can it do that others can't. I've read about it but can't seem to figure out its outstanding features and all the AND/OR stuffs :turtle:

8.The Tomb Marker has an option of TOmb Type: Normal-Death-Fire-Water-Magic. What do they differ from eachother?

I really appreciate any help. If you know the answer, please share. I've posted a similar thread at TSR since this site was down at the time, but no one, whosoever knows the answer. I just hope someone at our 4rums does. ;)
Thanks

1: When you check the object status it gives no name because the mummy does not exist. It is created when your sim activates the sarcophagus and then destroyed some time later, and as far as I can tell the name is random. If you befriend the mummy then you could rename it using a mod.

2: I could have sworn I had this working in one of my tombs, perhaps someone else has tried this?

3: You would need to flag the world as a vacation destination to have the correct map tags show.

4: I want to know this too! Drives me mad.

5: Doesn't work for me either, perhaps this requires your world to be a vacation destination too?

6: Yes, if your world is flagged as a vacation destination then the merchant will be assigned.

7: The processor allows you to do so many things, it is hard to sum it up in a few words. But, you can use a variety of boolean logic functions. Think of the processor as being a switch which has up to eight inputs and eight outputs. Whereas a floor switch is a single switch (you step on, it activates something) then the processor is like eight floor switches all connected, so you could make a tomb which required eight sims to work together to solve it if you liked! As well as basic AND gates (meaning, if switch one is true AND switch two is true then unlock the door) you could have OR gates (if switch one is true OR switch two is true then unlock the door), NOT gates (if switch one is true BUT NOT switch two is true then unlock the door) as well as inverters and exclusive switches (if switch one is true OR switch two is true BUT NOT BOTH then unlock the door).

Also you can get it to count (so you can make a door open only if the switch is stepped on 42 times), to cycle (lock the door, unlock the door, lock the door as you step on and off the switch) and randomly do things. If you think that you have eight outputs and you can connect those outputs to another processor then you have a virtual computer, so you can make incredibly complex tasks.

^Thnks a lot simsample but how do I assign it to be a V.destination. Do you use CAW? My CAW doesn't work. The thing just crash and report the error Game data not found. My game has been updated to the most recent patches but somehow the problem persists, but if a town is assigned as a vacation destitnation, sims won'tbe able to live there. Man I wish my sim can settle down at one of the three places. I'm just tired of travelling home and back.

Btw, I can still make an extremely hard multisim puzzle w/o the help of mr.processo-complicato :) The thing just drives me mad with all its logic thingys.

You need S3Pe to flag the world as a vacation world, but you need to read that thread I linked to because there are a lot of limitations. You will lose your taxi travel, for example.

You can't really make a multisim puzzle without the processor, as you can't have more than one input to trigger an output. You could only do things like having a door lock when a sim reaches a certain point and having to have another sim unlock it again for them from a distance- which isn't really complex. The logic is really easy- boolean logic is basic maths. If you can count, you can do logic. Have you tried this article, it's the best one I've seen:

^What I thought s3pe was a package editor, can U be more specific. I clicked on the link and directed to a forum box full of threads 0-0.

Raikiri123- sorry for the late reply, I must have missed this thread!

Yes, S3Pe is a package editor, you need to edit the world file (which is basically a package file) to change a particular resource to flag the world as a foreign locale. More info in the first post here:
http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=424374
But that will change many things about your world, not just enabling those map tags.

The S3Pe auto link takes you to the S3Pe site to download the program.
