I built this Homeless Shelter and I need to put stoves in it. I want it to be a Commercial lot but I can't put stoves in it. I had to make it a Residential Lot and I hated that. So if someone could make an override so I could put stoves on Commercial Lots that would be great. I also do not want it to have a rabbit hole in it. I want to be able to control it. I thought it would be great to have one since a lot of cities have at least one Homeless Shelter. I would put a few people in it and have them be homeless of course.

So if anyone can help me please let me know. My email is [email protected] put modthesims int he subject line please.

Well if its a community lot you can't put sims in it, they will come and go as they please and most of them will definatly not be homeless

I know that but I can edit it if need be. I just wanted to build one. I think it turned out pretty good. Now I need to be able to put stoves in it. Plus I wish you could make a homeless sims or have there be homeless sims in the game.

Try "Cooking On Community Lots (unsupported)" by Buzzler found here on Mod The Sims. It adds an option to the pie menu when you click on the ground. When selected, you get an option to add a stove to your community lot. Better info with the mod of course. Even though it is no longer being updated by Buzzler, I was able to get it to work, maybe you can too.

Good luck with your lot!

It's not a stove, but perhaps a firepit or bbq might work, too, if you don't want to use mods. :)

:D I always put a BBQ in the community lot so I can grill some perfect salmon for all the starving citizens of barnacle bay.

firepit sounds like an excelent way to go. if the lot is big enough, add a pond and a small garden, with buydebug enabled you can get mature garden plants, and stock the pond so fishing doesnt suck... it'll almost be like a "homeless community shelter" cause they can "better them selves" by gardening and fishing to earn their keep.

just my 2 cents

That would be a great idea if the lot had room for that stuff but the building takes up all of it. Its a one story building. Plus its in the city.

bummer. well, any garden or fishing place will do, if you can figure out that firepit part. i dont know if a fire pit inside is the best idea though. my sims have awfull luck with fire

I am trying to make this look like a Homeless shelter. I might be able to rework the building and make it a 2 story building instead of a 1 story building.

i s'pose it depends on if the shelter is supposed to be "state run" or run by the homeless themselves.

a state or community funded place would be expected to have a "tidier" look to it i suppose

Maybe you could build it like an apartment lot, but making all rooms public. You'd still be able to have your kitchen!

How would I do that?

I mean I was never good at making apartments. I have never really made one. I have made houses but they suck. I have made a couple good ones.

I have created a lot of sims and some sims families. Not a lot of other stuff and if I do I forget to upload it. But here lately I have been uploading the homes I build. I have all the expansion packs so I have been things here or there. The sims I am playing now just went to France for a vacation. I have sims about to grow up into an adult but just before she does every one goes invisible on me. So trying to figure it out. I just put sinks and grills in the Homeless Shelter. I left it at that.

Hope your having a great day.

You can find tips on making an apartment building in the Late Night subforum... and in more depth in the Building forum (under Create).

Basically you have to place the "public room" and "hidden room" markers appropriately, and use the right mailboxes and trash chute.

I will try but right now my game is acting up bad again for the third time in like 2 months. I have had to unistall and reinstall everything 3 times. I am getting pissed at it.

Right now I have gotten my game to work again. It is a resident lot and I did make random people to live it. I am playing it now and it they are getting good meals, a place to sleep, a place to shower, and most of them have job part job but they do have jobs. One is a mother with 2 children, there are 2 singles and then a married couple. So its going okay. For now anyway.

I think these two Mods are useful for anyone who wants to build Homeless Shelter, the first enables Cooking on Community Lots, the second enables every objects on Community Lots:

I don't have a homeless shelter, but I love that sims in my neighborhood wander around a lot, as you can see here, they act much like homeless on their own, some of them practically hang out all day in the park, jamming all the morning, having a lobster snack in the afternoon and rolling into their sleeping bags at night. :lovestruc

That place is so cool! Did you make it? If so, can you upload it to the exchange or something? Sorry, but that's just so cool! :)

Actually, that park is already on modthesims. It's by Caitie. [link] (http://modthesims.info/download.php?t=425625)

I like what nox has done to the place. Looks very lively.
