I do. I think simcity is a bit funner then the sims, and EA/MAXIS seems to have abandoned it. When will we get a REAL simcity 5 instead of that crash, bug infested societies? I dont want simcity live or the one coming to facebook. I want one for my PC that i can enjoy. And i hate those 2 "free" ones called opencity and lincity. So i guess im out of luck unless EA/maxis takes the hint. Most of there new games are horrible. Including the sims 3.

I still play Sim City 4 every now or then. It's a shame really that EA doesn't do anything (worthwile) with the Sim City IP anymore, after all without Sim City and Maxis' rise to succes because of it, there would be no Sims today.

I liked the first SimCity, but didn't care for the following editions.

I brought Simcity 4 recently but I haven't installed it yet. I used to love playing Simcity 2000 at Computer Club in year 5 =D

I play SC4 quite often. You can't really compare the SC series to TS series, because they are completely different.
Simcity Societies is ridiculously crap, though. I'm glad I only paid $1 for it, tehe.

Sincerely speaking, TS3 is WAYYY better than all of the Sims games that were before it. In my honest opinion. I don't like SimCity at all and I never did.

Never had the pleasure of playing it, but wanted too. Maybe someone could explain in detail why they think it would be worth playing?

I tried Sim City 4. I just didn't get the appeal

Sim City 4 is a really bad game to enter the series on. It's significantly harder and contains much more complexity than prior entries. Even long time series fans found themselves a little stumped to start with given the new regional mechanics.
Number 3 would be the best one to start with IMO. But still, it's not everyone's cup of tea. :)

I found SC3 impossible and actually stopped playing. I've just reinstalled SC4 because I want to make a custom neighbourhood. I have been distracted into building a new city - I'd forgotten how much I liked the drive missions. I liked the CC for SC4 too.

Oh I miss it so much, There are very few games that have the depth of Sim City 4, but for me, the main appeal was the challenge. It's still by far one of the hardest games I've ever played, with a huge learning curve (and I play Eve online), to get a huge, working city running at a profit is an endeavour that will take months, but oh how rewarding it is when skyscrapers start shooting up, and your industrial areas all go to high-tech automatically..ahh. By the end you know every street and every water pipe, you know that city so intricately it's like a family member. ...I swear every month or so I search in vain for 'Sim City 5 release Date", I know it'll probably never happen, but stranger things have, duke nukem forever *cough* .
I've been doing the cities xl thing but it's just not the same, it's lacking a certain soul.

I shall perform necromancy on this thread! Watch closely:
Simcity really needs a new game, I got the simcity box, but I only play simcity 4 now :). Imagine the Simscity. You could have gameplay of both the sims and simcity in one game, but either side is optional!

Honestly, I think it would be best for EA not to develop another Sim City title. With mods like Network Addon Mod, Network Widening Mod and Street Addon Mod existing, what more could EA possibly add to the series that hasn't already been done before?
Do I want a Sim City 5? Hell yeah I do, but, all good things must come to an end eventually. Besides, how many more titles can EA create for Sim City, without the games feeling like the same rehashed garbage? It is bad enough that the Sims is already turning into the same repetitive rehashed garbage, but if EA were to continue the Sim City series, chances are Sim City would turn into a cash cow for EA too.
It's best just to live and let die.

SC4 really doesn't help itself with all its instabilities and the limitations of the engines.
Of course, that's stuff made worse by things like the Network Addon Mod, which are practically indispensable in my mind, but admittedly causes the game to crash at the drop of a hat. There's only so much you can do in that engine, sadly.

DNF was already being in development for 12 years. The first talk about it was right after the release of Duke Nukem 3D. But for a long time DNF was abbreviated as Did Not Finish and was classified as vaporware. Simcity 5 is never officially mentioned so far, so you can not speak of the same like duke nukem forever.

This is true. Just saying, if you had a choice of entry points.
Sim City 4 is actually my favourite in the series. It just has a very steep learning curve for SC newbies.

I don't miss SimCity because SC 4 is still installed in my old computer and play it whenever I feel the itch.

It probably is the best to let Simcity rest. It's now been remembered as a great simulation game and not like a cash cow.
Great games will just remain great.

I bought the original SimCity in 1989 when they launched it and have bought every SimCity game since except SimCity4 Rush Hour. I didn't get SimCity Societies because lots of friends told me that it sucked. I still have SimCity4 on my computer and play it when I get the urge. I also had SimFarm and I miss that game. I wish EA would update these games or release new versions.
