View Full Version : Being A Celebrity In Sims 3 Feels Incomplete.

I kind of miss the whole celebrity mechanic in Sims Superstar, i mean your sims could do some acting, modeling, jingles and record an album, stand up comedy, entertaining Sims in the karaoke, etc.Your Sim was always busy to stay relevant.

I like some things in Late Night like the celebrities Sims are kind of douche if you are a nobody or a low celebrity and you have to impress them and the exclusives VIP stuff but you practically can be a celebrity easily by just mingling in the city without actually putting some work.

Yeah, all celebs really do in this game is go clubbing, or go to a rabbit hole, sign autographs on occasion - small things. It can't compare at ALL, but at least we have the option.

Like Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian and the cast of Jersey Shore. Says a lot about what the world has come to, doesn't it?

Yeah, Superstar was definitely more about the actual celebrity, and I feel like Sims 3 Celebrity could be more accurately dubbed 'Socialite' or something.

Yes sir, socialite is the word. I also hoped, before I purchased the game, that the BAND, if famous, record albums and sell cd's through touring or just tour to france or wherever.

It reflects the change in our culture. The Sims 1 Superstar reflect a time when people actually required minimal talent and work in order to become a celebrity. Sims 3 Late Night reflects the change in Western culture where all you have to do to become a celebrity is flash your lack of underwear on national TV.

Unfortunately, it is really too easy and requires no skill or talent to be a celebrity in TS3 and that's just weird. I also hate that - you come up to one of the celebs, and after you've impressed them , viola, you get the first celebrity level. on the other hand, anything like "flashing your underwear' would cause a negative effect on a celebrity, if that was possible in the game. Yes, you don't need much to get famous in TS3 LN, but, hell, after you've actually turned into a celeb, you are judged so damn strictly, you can't even be a single parent, or divorce your partner, no matter how bad your life with him/her is! Such conservative and stupid thing. Celebrities usually have scandalous lives, and their scandals just make them even more famous and talked about, whether they want it or not.

I make my sims into celebs only if they are actors, musicians, sportsmen, stylists and politicians, and are on a rather high level of their careers, to make the things more appropriate.

This disjointedness also reflects American culture: American culture is nominally highly Puritanical. An entertainment product "appropriate" to this culture thus enforces such often antiquated social views, even while it models the "new" no-talent celebrity. Thus, you have this disjointed mishmash model in which celebrities are made the "new" way while held to the "old" standard which is contrary to what made them. Of course, in real life, scandals also inflate one's celebrity, and a celebrity without scandals is uninteresting, so...this is actually more accurate than you'd think.

It's realistic!

question: can we see the photographs paparazzi take of the celeb sims? Sometimes they snap pictures at the perfect moment, I'd love to see those pictures!

The main problem with the scandals in Sims 3 is that they not only do nothing to enhance your celebrity, but also causes bouncers to deny your Sim access to clubs, and bartenders to mock you while denying celebrity discounts. In real life, no matter what scandals celebrities are involved in, service job workers are instructed to grovel to them all equally while ignoring regular non-celebrity patrons.

I agree with everyone here. It also irritates me that there is only one type of celebrity.

My sim is a sculptor and ELDER sculptor that became a celebrity after carving her pregnant daughter-in-law. I didn't mind because, yeah, she would be a celebrity. She's the oldest sim in Sunset Valley, she has maxed most of her skills ,and is at the top of her career. But...all of her opportunities involve her making cameos in movies, and promoting crap. She wouldn't be signing autographs when she rolls over to the library or having the PP taking her picture when she goes to the grocery store...

It's really irritating because the "attention-whore-sex-tape" celebrities are the least interesting.

I felt the same way about my Sim who was Leader of the Free World. Not that there's anything remotely realistic about that job, but in that position your handlers would be trying to keep you out of nightclubs to protect your image, and you aren't allowed to promote crap until your term is over.
I've pretty much banned celebrity from my game with Twallan's mods.

I rarely use the celebrity feature, in fact I use twallans mods to turn it off since it's pointless.

I love Superstar for sims 1.

I love Superstar for sims 1.

I really miss that crazy fan, who stalked you all day, left roses in front of your door, took pics and searched your trash can over and over again. He was so much fun. :)

I turned everything off above level 0 with my own mod as it was a waste of time for me because of getting more calls than my sim could answer.
I would be clicking for the sim for any interaction and it would cut me off with a call with some useless request that was recycled every day
unless I sent my sim out. Be In a movie, Eat here to promote this restaurant, dance here for 2 hours.

The town toddlers were not fed and cried all the time because their parents were stuck staring at celebrities. .
I would send my sim out to the park to play for tips and he kept stopping because sims passing out, starving, or using the bathroom on themselves due
to seeing celebrities all around. The whole town became celebrities so it is a stupid feature

I don't really see the point of being a celebrity either. I used testingcheatsenabled to make my Sim good friends with a 1 star-celebrity and BAM! she was a celebrity herself. :wtf: That would've been great if the whole celebrity-thing actually added something to the gameplay but to me it doesn't. Except for creepy paparazzi stalking my Sim at night (not even during daytime. I swear they only pop up when my Sim goes to bed).
