Help me, pleeease!

So I couldn't find this in the help section so sorry for posting this in the wrong place or whatever. So the other day I bought Generations and I installed it and it won't work! Sims 3 works fine but then I install Generations and it just like freezes up while I'm loading my family or trying to start a new game. The green loading bar won't progress, only just a tiny bit. I tried re-installing both games and that didn't work. Also I made it to Create a Sims the one time I tried but I couldn't even get past that. Please, help me I;ve tried everything!

Do you have any mods? Also, try clearing your cache

I deleted all of my custom content and I tried to delete the caches but that still didn't work. :(

Have you patched your game to the latest patch?
Try to patch your basegame before you install an Expansion Pack.
You can check your patches with the Patch Downloader (http://modthesims.info/download.php?t=409829)

Try that first - every step, in order, and don't skip anything! Even if it doesn't say your specific problem, try it anyway, as it's a good starting point to rule out the most common causes of game issues.
