View Full Version : Problem with family gravestone

I've heard about problems with Romance aspiration gravestones changing from platinum to non-platinum if moved, but I'm having issues with a Family Aspiration gravestone.
Situation: Isabella and Patrizio Monty were both family sims and both had the same LTW of having Six Grandchildren. I had Antonio remarry and have two more daughters which combined with the grandchildren they already had gave Isabella and Patrizio their LTW. Both were perma-plat when they died of old age.
The problem is that even though Patrizio was perma-plat and died of old age, he has a regular gray gravestone. Isabella has the platinum family gravestone. What happened?
I have Sims 2 Double Deluxe, University, Open for Business, Seasons, Free Time, Apartment Life and Mansions and Gardens and the Family Fun Stuff packs. All EPs are patched except for University. I have the nounlinkondelete mod already.

Now that I think about it, i had the same happening in my game, a perma-plat Sim dieing of old age, but getting a gray tombstone/urn anyway. Too bad I never really cared about tombstones and tend to dismiss whatever happens to them, as long as ghosts appear, that's all that matters to me.
Curious what knowing players will have to say about it.

Boolprop will help you with this. Bring up the cheat bar (Control-Shift-C), and type in "boolProp testingcheatsenabled true" without the quotes, and SHIFT-Click on the tombstone. Select the death type and the tombstone will change. Again pull up the cheat bar, (Control-Shift-C) and type in "boolProp testingcheatsenabled false" and save your game. Don't forget to turn off boolProp or you game will go explode.

Edit: Oh crap. It wasn't about the death type, was it?

He died of old age, and unless selecting old age again will make his gravestone platinum, it wasn't about his death type.
Does that work in a community lot cemetery? I hate ghosts and moved the graves to a community lot cemetery. His urn was gray before I moved it though.

So the gravestones can look different? I mean for aspiration deaths? I never noticed, maybe because my sims never were platinum when they died. But how do you get those obelisk-type grave stones that came on one of the original Pleasantview lots, is that only special or can your sims get that when they die?

I don't know what you mean by obelisk-type graves stones. I think that may be special.
I thought the easiest way to answer your question was pictures from my grave yard.

The grave stone is Isabella's platinum gravestone it is gold and white and shows her family aspiration because she was platinum when she died of old age. The grave stone on the left is Patrizio's gray grave stone which is why I made the original post. He was platinum when he died of old age, so his is supposed to look like hers.

These gravestone are for Patrizio and Isabella's son Claudio and his wife. They both starved to death as adults so they were supposed to get the plain gray gravestones.
What I was asking was why did Patrizio get the plain gray like Claudio instead of the gold platinum like Isabella.

No it wont. It only "explodes" if you use the boolprop testing cheat incorrectly. Don't go clicking on things and forcing errors and you'll be fine. There are quite a few players who actually play with boolprop on all the time. The code itself doesn't "explode games" ill informed players do.

Yup, it's on at all times in my game. Configured to load in debug mode so I don't even have to type it in.
Forcing errors is okay too, by the way, as long as one knows to select Reset when the error message pops up. (Force Error/Delete should definitely be avoided, unless one really knows what one is doing!)

That's what my point was. Seems like a lot of the people who say "Boolprop esploded my game!" are the ones who go clicking things without researching or backing their game up. I've used it quite a few times with no problems at all. I want to make a user startup file but I can't figure it out. I'd like to have a few cheats on once I load.

Who died first? If your Sim had a fear of his wife dying that may be the reason it's gray and not gold. Perhaps his last memory is of his wife dying, which would be a bad memory.

I want to make a user startup file but I can't figure it out. I'd like to have a few cheats on once I load.
This is easy - you just make a file called userStartup.cheat and open it with Notepad. Type your cheats in. Put it in the Config folder. Voila. This is the start of mine:
intProp MaxNumOfVisitingSims 25
boolProp testingCheatsEnabled true
boolProp carsOnRight false
boolprop useshaders true
You can also use aliases - very useful. This is one for move objects on - in game I just type 'm' into the cheat box, m- to turn it off.
alias m "moveObjects on" "Enables the ability to move normally unmovable objects" ""
alias m- "moveObjects off" "Disables the ability to move normally unmovable objects" ""
I copypasta'd that from someone else so I don't know if you need the 'Enables the ability...' bit. Don't think so. If you want I can PM you the whole contents of my userStartup and you can copypasta it yourself (cutting out anything you don't want).

As far as I know, the Nightlife patch includes the patch for Univesity, that's what I understood from the official EA site. Maybe somebody knows better and my understanding is incorrect? I never patched University, thinking that it isn't needed.

They both died on the same day, but Isabella died about an hour before he did. He did have a fear of her dying, but I thought if they were perma-plat from their LTW being fulfilled, they stayed platinum despite fears being filled. His aspiration bar didn't go down.

I tried to patch University ,but got a message that it was already up to date, hoping that the patch would stop the occasional glitch with some sim's grade bars.

There was something with the permaplats where the aspiration didn't stay full despite the bar being full on screen (i.e. the score in the background would fall). I remember Pescado discussing it. I'll see if I can find it. It might have been one of the EPs borked it.
Also - don't double-post, you are inviting the wrath of the mods.

Was it something to do with AL? I don't remember having this problem before I put in AL.
Gotta love EA stupidity.</sarcasm> that's why we need mod makers.
