View Full Version : Is this a bug, a conflict or is it supposed to happen?

OK so my teenage sim has a D as a grade in school, I hadn't been playing that family and when I got back to them he had a D :( . I sent him to school and had him work on late homework, when he got home his grandmother grounded him, this was on a Tuesday. So Wednesday comes, and he tried to go to school, she tells him no way mister your still grounded don't even think about leaving the house!
So my question is, is this supposed to happen? Is it a glitch? or is my teen sim doomed to fail having a D in school and not being allowed to go to school?
I had the grandmother let him off the hook, this time but I like the grounded action just not the fact that he can't go to school!
I've had generations since it came out but only played for a few minutes with it, so don't know if this is normal for a grounding.
TIA!!

unfortunately, it's normal for this to happen. I once had one teenage child become grounded for his entire life stage once. (32 days).

It seems, at least in my game, that it's bugged due to field trips being bugged.
I noticed after a field trip that the next day when my sim kids were in school it still said field trip, this messed up after school activities too for me, I used Twallan's MC to reset the household to fix it.
I also used MC to get rid of the grounded moodlet when this happened to me, (getting grounded for staying out past curfew, getting grounded for sneaking out trying to go to school and finaly getting grounded for skipping school)

LOL I was thinking this could be the start of an ugly cycle! Getting grounded then getting yelled at for trying to go to school, and if I didn't make him go to school he woulda been in trouble for not going! Think EA would have/should have thought ahead about that. I have Master Controller too, and I've had to reset my sims a bunch mainly because of the grounding thing.
I've just sent the parents on one of those "free vacations" I've read they can sometimes be bugged, I really hope they come back!!

Oh they'll be back... likely to ground your teen sims some more for "trashing the house"
WTF? it was ONE pizza box on the counter, that's all that changed since you left! Everyone had a good time at the party and they just danced and talked a bit sjeez....
But yeah without Twallan's MC and Story Progression mods I probably wouldn't even be playing the Sims 3 anymore.

LOL they came back and the teen didn't get in trouble right away. I thought for sure grounded was coming again, that didn't happen till the next night, I sent mom and dad out to go to a party and when mom came home she grounded the teen for trashing the house!! I was like WTF :wtf: ?? The teen had cleaned everything up before they came home everybody except one person was out of the house, nothing was dirty, nothing was broken, except the shower and dad broke that the morning this all happened!
I think another reason I didn't notice the grounding before was because I had Awesome Mod, but it's been crashing my game lately so I've been playing with Twallan's mods, and I gotta say I love them!!

When this happens in my Non Generations game, the teen autoages after 3 days and has to get a job.
