Happy 11/11/11!
I'm such a nerd... I'm already looking forward to October, 11th of next year. And then December 12th...
Heh :heyhey:

It's Memorial Day in the USA. It used to be Armistice Day to commemorate the end of the WW1.

Such dates are popular for marriages here.

Heh :heyhey: Is this what you're calling "picket fence day"? It's such a cute term, but I don't understand the reference. Is it because of the visual of 1's and dashes, like this: 11-11-11 ?

Such dates are popular for marriages here. It'd be a hell of a lot easier to remember your anniversary!

It's Mortens Day in Denmark (and other countries around here as well, it just goes by different names). We do celebrate at the evening before. Mostly. And the guy it's named after was actually called Martin. He got betrayed by geese, and decided we should slaughter a goose a year. We eat duck in Denmark though.
So mainly we celebrate a guy called Martin, who got betrayed by geese by calling him a different name and eat duck instead and celebrate it another day.

Guys it is a war related holiday in a lot of countries but the OP was talking about the fact that it's 11/11/11, you're supposed to make wish at 11:11.

Hey, you've always got 11:11 pm, though that would be the 2nd 11:11 and not the 1st, so it throws your numbers off a bit.
It was really common in middle school for girls to make wishes at 11:11, but we also made those little paper fortune tellers and played MASH, so take that as you will.
Still, it's kinda cute when the numbers all line up like that- it's special even if it doesn't even mean anything.

Not sure, it's one of those things that high schoolers do. It was fun to count down during English class (even though we all had different times!)

I love these kinds of things, like on the first of each month, I try to remember to say "Rabbit rabbit" when I wake up. Most months I forget and say something before I catch myself. To try to remember, I'll put stuffed animals all around the alarm clocks, but it still doesn't help :(
I'll have to try to remember 11:11 tonight and not fall asleep in front of the tv.... :anime:

Actually yes. The visual. But 11:11 was always called picket fences where I grew up... Since 11-11-11 only happens every hundred years, doesn't it deserve a name?

And I didn't realize it was 11/11/11 or remembrance day until the day of :P
