For some reason everyday at around 3 am my game crashes and I have to go back to an earlier save. It happens every day. So is it happening to anyone else? The crashing started when I installed pets. If it has happened to anyone else how do you fix it?

My game has started doing a similar behavior. After I installed Pets, it began crashing for no apparent reason. At the moment, I have a mod that allows me to play Sims 3 without a CD, so I was thinking that was the cause. I installed the mod right after I installed Pets. The only way I know how to combat it at the moment is to save often!
But I sure hope there's a fix for it soon, Pets is probably the buggiest EP for Sims 3 I've seen yet.

here it is make sure to select all your ep launchers and the accual button you use to start the launcher
its a known issue however i suggest getting in the habit of saving your game every day to ever 2 sim days like when you send them to bed save it or even find a mod that auto saves the game i think i saw one somewere

Mine was crashing exactly every 24 game hours, but apparently that was caused by AwesomeMod, and it was fixed in newer versions of Awesome

Twallan has a saver mod that will prompt you to save however often you want. :) I use it, overwatch and story progression to keep my game running smoothly. :)

I had bad crashing issues, I then downloaded this (http://www.modthesims.info/d/416883) mod and it comes out my save game was corrupt  . I had to save my family to the bin and start a fresh game and now my game is fine.

My game's only started crashing since Pets came out. This annoys me deeply, since I have NEVER had trouble with crashes before I installed it. I was free of Mods, corrupt CC, and everything they said to get rid of. Yet now because of Pets my game has become unreasonably laggy and crashed several times within the week I played it. Now I just don't, because I hear there's a fix coming out soon.
I don't know why, but it's really disappointing me that I can't play the game I raved over getting for months.

VladdyT, try the download Hannah posted just above you, it should probably help diagnose what's causing it.

Me too. As soon as I have Pets in my computer I start to deal with crashes and bugs. I installed Pets and Generations on the same day. Before I installed them I just play the previous EPs and nothing happened. I started a new game loading Sunset Valley using a family I saved in the bin. And then the nightmare started. Every five to ten minutes the game crashes. And Visual Studio I have in my computer keeps on popping warnings like "there's a bug in SIMS3 do you want to debug it?" and then the game just stops.
I am kind of crazy now... Usually old savings may cause problems when a new EP is installed. But THAT'S NOT AN OLD SAVING! And I don't have core mods in my game.
Actually... I do have a old saving when I was playing Late Night. THAT GAME GOES ON PERFECTLY after I have Pets...
I'm really exhausted.....

Mine started to freeze and crash. Thought maybe it was my video card. Haven't played in the last two days due to work and life.. Will try the mod and see what is going on... Ea strikes again.
Thanks Ea once more making that gaming experience ~special~.....

I'm having the exact same problems, and I just installed The Sims 3 pets today. I have all but Generations installed (and some of the stuff packs).
I hadn't run the Sims 3 for months, then finally got around to installing Pets today.
I created a new family, and things were fine for a while. Then the game started to get really laggy at times, stuff on the screen would freeze, and sounds would still play, and the clock freezes, then things move again after a few seconds. Eventually things froze on me and didn't start moving, so I had to use the task manager to kill the Sims 3.
At first I figured maybe it was a memory leak problem, since I had spent a few hours editing the neighborhood and designing a Sim family, so I restarted the sims 3 and loaded my save game. For like 15 to 20 minutes things were fine, then the lag started again, and suddenly I was taken out of the game and told it had stopped responded and given a 'close program' option by windows.
I tried again a few hours later, and sure enough it crashed again, even quicker this time, after maybe 10 minutes at most.
I was really looking forward to playing The Sims 3 after a while, but now I guess I won't be playing it again for a while, until a patch fixes this problem. :(

Try using the "resetsim *" command regularly. That can happen when townies or paparazzi get stuck somewhere because of the lousy job EA did on the neighborhoods. Also there's a series of mods on this site that are routing fixes for the various neighborhoods to make each of them far less laggy.

I did not have any problems with crashes until patch 1.26. These got worse with the installation of the Pets expansion packs. From what I can figure, least in my case, my computer does not meet the requirements and thus cause crashes including ones considered "Corrupt Save".
Before someone goes "You should've checked the requirements", yes I know. I suffered from "Well Sims run fine on my computer so it must meet requirements" and I have changed laptops since I got the basegame. The most recent one being bought by someone without my presence because of certain circumstances.
I've had the lags, freezes where I've had to kill the process, the temporary freezes, and the irritating "Stop Responding" occurrence. The two requirements I don't meet is CPU (need 2.6GHz and I have 2.0GHz) and not the correct graphic card.
Just saying this all because others may have suffered the same issue with requirements, along with making the same assumptions, and be left banging their heads against their keyboards with the latest patch.
At this rate I might save all my games with pets on my external hard drive, reinstall up to patch 1.24, and just play Sims without Pets until I get a better system.

My computer more than meets the requirements (quad core processor, HD graphics card, 8GB RAM and game has been made LAA), and I'm also getting the occasional "corrupt save" crash since patch 1.26/installing Pets.

Macs definitely have a problem with the Pets EP. Depends a lot on your graphics card. The game locked up my computer completely every time, requiring a reboot, until I bought the Snow Leopard OS X. Now I can play the game well enough, although the pets don't have "fluffy" fur--they all look like marshmellows. I had no problems at all with Sims 3 until I installed the Pets EP.

Those requirements don't really mean anything. They're for Basegame + Pets, not Basegame + (all the other EPs you have) + (all the other SPs you have) + Pets.
