I'm thinking about adding a page for viewing floorplans, or maps, you may have scanned, or made as picture files. Thoughts?

If you plan to add images and notes, I suggest not having hard coded categories, such as "map" or "floorplan". Or have hardcoded categories, but also user created ones. People will always come up with something you don't have a category for. Maybe let users organize notes and images in a tree structure, like Windows folder view? That way, they can have a "maps" folder, a "floorplans" folder, maybe subfolders in there for "home" and "business". Of course, people can already do that with just regular file folders. So to make this more simcentric, I suggest being able to associate sims and lots and neighborhoods with notes / pictures. So maybe for each note, have the option of adding sims or lots to a list of associated things. Then if you click on a sim in that list, it takes you to that sim's page in SimTracker.
I'm supposed to send you something. Sorry, got very distracted, will get on that this weekend when I get back to my home machine.

Hello Reba, i love your program, it's really really usefull for me!!
Unfortunately, i've got some problems with it recently. I've updated the version 1.1.9.4 (i've got the same problem with 1.1.9.3) and i've kept my datas about my sims. When i've tried to get to about my sims informations (created with the vers. 1192 for example), i've got an error who occured asking me to continue or to end the program. If i quit, the program ends normally. If i continue, i can't get to my datas :( I don't understand why i've got this error, may be because i've not suppress the program before installing the update?
EDIT : I've an idea about my problem : i'm with WINDOWS XP, not vista or 9... and so, may be it's the net framework 4.0 who doesn't work correctly?

version 1.194 had a few errors that would prevent sim data from loading, if you update to the newest version, 1.196, it should resolve all of them.
When I added the Quick view pages, I created unexpected issues. I have now dealt with them.
Now that I know where I made the mistakes, I will be able to avoid them in future updates.

Always so useful for me, thank you for this tool reba :)
Edit : i've found a little bug in the 1.2.0.0 version. When i set up the information of a sim (in the trait section) and when i switch with another sim, the information of the previous sim appears instead of the actual sim.

Reba, a suggestion for future versions, or possibly just a glitch with mine: I can't edit the address field for my households on the household tab. When i hover my mouse over it, it remains a normal pointer, but when I hover it over any other editable field, i get the pointer finger icon and can change that field. I didn't put addresses in when i created my households b/c I didn't remember them, but now that I'm running my game in windowed mode and have the tracker going at the same time I can look up the addresses easily, I just can't enter them. So cold that possibly get fixed? Thanks ~VP

The error was due to my web site going down. When the next update comes, should be soon, I'll make sure that does not happen again.

Just started using this program after writing an Uberhood update and realising I couldn't remember the name of a sim's crush. It's very handy. Could I make just one small suggestion though? With the physical traits tab, I notice there's no option for custom skintones, eyes or hair, and I wondered if you would be able to include that in a future version at all?
VioletPadfoot
2nd Jun 2012, 12:44 AM
sushigal: it already possible to so that. Go to Tools > Options >Sim Options > Traits and you can add any custom content you want as well as alter the existing ones. In my neighborhood for my ToT challenge I'm using a special default replacement skin that gives them different colors of skin instead of the normal ones and I altered the "light, medium, tan, and dark" values to reflect the colors I'm using.

Hi Reba - hope you are well and not too busy (know what that's like).
I've noticed an issue with the Tracker in that I started to enter my custom careers in the options panel. I loaded my cleaner career alright and saved it. I then started on a second career (Prison Warder) and found that the details of the prison warder overwrote the details in the cleaner career. I tried with a third career - same result. It would seem that the Tracker only records one custom career at a time and gives the details as being the same for every custom career you put in the list. I just reinstalled the Tracker and came over to the thread to get the latest version last week.

Is there any chance that you could make this for the sims 3/walk me through how to do it? I would LOVE to have something like this for the sims 3, but I can't find anything like it.

A major problem with my computer made me lose everything, so I have to start over. This will let me do a better verion. As for TS3, if I ever get TS3, then I will make one for it too.
Right now I am learning to make Windows 8 apps, so don't be surprised to see a Win8 version as well. :)

Reba, a suggestion for future versions. Can you make it possible to link siblings together without having the same parents? For instance if creating a pair of siblings in CAS that have no parents in game, being able to set them as siblings in the tracker without making up a parent so that they will appear as family to one another (and to one another's family later on down the line) I figure it can't be too difficult, as I'm pretty sure it would run the same type of code as setting spouses and children. Thanks! ~VP
Lilana_Astrix
8th Jan 2013, 10:02 PM
I second Violet's suggestion. Being able to link siblings would be a great help. I'm only playing premades right now, but there are certain ones who are supposed to be siblings and have no parents at all.
I am definitely liking the look of the new version so far though. :D
ETA: Oh yeah, and some way to list adopted children or alien pregnancies, anything where there's only one parent, regardless of whether the parent had been married before. Like in the case of Armand and Tara Debateau. She was adopted after Armand had already divorced Jessica. The tracker lists Jessica as one of her parents though, suggesting a relationship that just isn't there. Or, better yet, maybe a way to set no parents at all or biological parents? Meh, chances are what I'm asking for is already available and I just haven't figured it out yet.
RebaLynnTS
10th Jan 2013, 07:29 PM
Adoption, and alien pregnancies are already supported, but this will be improved in the new version.
Sim Tracker 2 will support adding siblings. One of the good things about starting over is I can make a lot of improvements.
One new feature I am adding is a random name generator :)
Lilana, in the new version you will be able to set one, or no parents.
When you use the "Add New Child" button it will now ask if the new child needs to be added to the current spouse or someone else (or no one).
The parent you are using to create the child (if from the parents page) will now be reported as parent 1.
So if you want the Mother to be Parent 1, then the new child will need to be added through the mothers page, or added from the main sim list, and then you can set the parents on the childs parent page.
Please keep the suggestions comming. Since I am doing a new version, this is the best time to let me know what changes you would like to see.
Plus the more responses here, the more I know folks are interested.

I'm such a huge fan of your program, I use it every time I play. Really looking forward to see the new version!
EDIT:// Is it possible to bring the information of saved neighborhoods from the old version to the new one easier than manually starting from scratch? If that's possible to add to the new version, that would be so helpful! :)

I'm so glad that I decided to look and see if anything has been going on with SimTracker. I have done extensive researching to find all the information about the college semesters for all majors. I still have a little gap with History and Lit majors, but I should be getting it soon. In any case, here you go. :)

I have another question: Will the new version have the option of showing sim-days assosiated with different events? That is, there could be a box for adding sim-day values in addition to the real-time calendar. For example, sim A and B got married on day 23 or sim C was born on day 15.

Well, with the current program, you can write in custom dates. I have been using it to say that Sim was married in the Winter with 4 days left in the 2rd year, or 3/4/2, for my custom dates. You can do a similar thing for yourself however you want to do it.

You'll find them on SnootySims, HERE (http://www.snootysims.com/infoindex.php?id=classes) ! :)
I'm glad you liked the old version, and I am sure you will love the new one (I do)
Because I lost a lot of my original coding I may not be able to do a transfer program, but I am going to try.

As was already stated by icemandeaf the old ersion will already let you do that. The new version will improve on this function a great deal.
You will be able to select dates by house day so sim age, with out a lot of typing.
Iceman, thank you for this, it will save me a great deal of time. I might be able to have the new vesrion done several months sooner.
I still need to get correct information on all of the Careers as well, but that will not be as hard.
Also the new version of the program will let you edit major, and career information right from the main page, no more need to go into the options section.
Almost forgot, adding new careers and majors will be a lot easier as I am doing a wizard for that :)

I am so stoked!!!! :D I can't wait because I know that each time you come out with something new, it just makes things that much easier.
I can understand if you can't get it to transfer over because of lost information. I have 1060 sims and 90 households full of various data, so it would just mean that I would have to enter all that information slowly as I go through a rotation. (Takes me about a year for a full rotation. HA!) But if you can even do something, it would be great! No pressure, though. ;)

Not to put more on your plate because I don't want to make it so that this doesn't come out longer than I have already been waiting, but I have a few things to mention.
First off, I know that I have mentioned it before, but I would like to see the "Is Family" tag either working better than it is now or at least making it possible for me to change the tag if I notice that the game tags two sims as family. The main reason I do this is so that I can know which friends to count towards the influence level, since family as friends don't count. Another thing that this would be very helpful with is to figure out how many family friends a household has for promotions. Right now there is no place for that data, so I have been having to figure it out manually.
I have mentioned it before that retired Elders don't seem to keep their retired check marked. I don't know why that it doesn't seem to stick. I would also like to know if it would be possible to have Adult jobs stay if a sims becomes an Elder, but doesn't retire. They shouldn't be able to change jobs, but still be able to change levels. It makes it difficult to know where my sim it towards his LTW after he has become an Elder.
And speaking of LTWs, is it possible to be able to have a report of sims with various LTWs? Maybe even how far along they are to getting it? I like to know which sims are ok to heir for my businesses based on if they have completed their career LTW or at least don't have a career LTW.
Another thing that I would like to see is to be able to place the value of a business. I have been placing it where the address field is because the name of the business is the address, although it would be nice to be able to create an address different than the name. Right now, placing the value is helpful for me so that I know if a sim can buy an unowned business.
The last thing that I can think of off the top of my head is relations with pets. Since there is a place to put pet information within the household, it felt redundant to create a fake sim just so that it can be in the social tab. This means that I have had no way to keep track of the sim-pet relationships.

Just a quick thought before I forget it. Can you make it possible to distinguish two households with the same names? I have been putting the address with the household name so that there is a difference with the name in the listing. The only problem with doing that is when I go to enter a sim's previous addresses, it would have the address twice (ie Capp --- Capp Manor --- Capp Manor --- Veronaville). I guess if I left the address field blank, it would solve the doubling up. Hmm...
Also, could you show the stage of a sim within the social tab? I sometimes forget that a sims friend became an elder (or which ever other stage depending) someplace else, so it shocks me when I see that when I play that sim.

The house listing can now show the House Name, Address, Last Played, and ID number.
I've added a tool bar, and the house can be listed by name or address in it.
I can add age to the social list.
Another Change is that you will be able to add vacation homes to the house list. The House filter will also let you view only vacation homes.

By Name, Address, Last Played, Neighborhood, and ID, actually.
Only the toolbar list will be restricted to Name OR Address, due to space limitations. If I find there is enough space once the program nears completetion, then I will fix it so the toolbar list can show both.
I will be posting a new screen shot soon.

Hello, is there a new version incoming?
Hopefully I'm not repeating others, but right now I'm using Sim Tracker for my megahood and noticed a few things. Like not being able to delete roommates. I don't know why, there's just no option "remove this sim" lighting up, it's greyed out. E.g. I incorrectly placed Samantha Cordial as a roommate for Kimberly Cordial, and now it's not possible to delete her.
And I have a request, if possible. Please, make it so that we can specify the final mark the kid got at school. Maybe I fail to find it, but I don't see such an option. You can tick a memory "Got A+", but there's no field to show which mark the kid had if it was not A+. It's very important for my hood, because sims are limited in job levels in relation to which marks they got at school.
Another one, sorry for that, is it possible to make the field "Location of birth" and other locations in "Transitions" panel editable in an ordinary manner, too? Some of my sims have a backstory of coming from another hood, but you can't specify something like that, you can only choose a family name in that field. Some of my sims move around multiple times, so if I specify that somebody died at one place, that's not true because they've moved since then and the place doesn't go by that family name anymore. Basically, it would be real great if one could enter values of her own, too, like actual addresses, rather than going by the family name only. :)
Thank you for your program and for still updating it!

Yes, a new version is comming, I lost all of my old code, so I am having to start over, and am going to be making major upgrades.
You can repeat others all you like.
I will be putting the new version through much stricter testing before letting it out in the wild, so most, if not all, of the bugs should be worked out. I've already past the occupants section, and the roommate features are working correctly now.
The grade selector now has A+, A, A-, etc.
The location items will now have a way to add what ever you like to them, yes. Enstead of a simple drop down, now a special box will pop up and let you select from several options, including typing in your own.
Keep the suggestions comming, as I can't think of everything myself :)
Almost forgot. I am adding support to list, non-business, community lots as well (The tab is not there yet, but I will be adding it).

I'm going to try to get the new version to load the old data, but I am not sure if I can or not. I don't look forward to entering it all in by hand either.
One new thing, in the social list, enstead of the program trying to figure out who is, and is not family, you will be able to set it manually.
Also, the social list will now show pets as well as humans.

Sorry for bringing in even more suggestions, and it's very likely that this "bug" does not exist anymore, since you're not using the old code. But I just thought I'd mention that in the friend list whenever I add somebody new, the notes section remains in the same position, i.e. if I add a new sim, she or he may get notes describing the circumstances of becoming friends with another sim, and all other notes would be moved higher or lower and assigned incorrectly. It's like they're assigned to their positions, instead of sims.
It's nice if the new version of the program would be able to load all the old data for sure. I hope that will be the case :)

OK, if you really don't mind suggestions, I'll make a real one. :) When I see the option to use video in your program I always keep thinking how nice it would be if there was also a section to write up a bio with pictures. Sort of like an in-game picture journal. Right now I keep all the info separate: on one hand I use MsWord documents to write up the story with pictures, and on another hand your program to enter data. It would be nice to integrate everything, although I'm not sure that it's possible. I'm not saying that I dream of an actual copy of an in-game jourmal, each picture and description being separate and all, just about something that would be like reading a document with pictures.
I don't know if this suggestion would be popular with others, but I personally never quite use an in-game journal, because it's assigned to lots rather than sims or family name and sort of "disappears" if your sims move out. So writing everything in a separate document is much better, and this way it's possible to track the whole family through generations. All the better if everything can be done inside of one program! But I don't know if that's impossible or possible but too complex to add.

Violet: Thank you for the high praise. I am also doing Quick View HTML for Businesses and Pets. You may need to do some small bit of editing for the pictures to show up online, but I am trying to think of a way to make that completely automatic as well (Save the pictue in the same folder as the rest of the HTML page, and edit the page in reguards to that.)
SushiGal: I am getting excited about this project as well. I find myself staying up till 3am working on it.
Iceman, I guess what they say is true, great minds do think alike, I just got finished adding those trackers to the program :)
If you turn on Auto Notes (Which may be on by default, I have not decided yet), then when a wish is granted, a listing is made for it in the notes section. You can then edit it to show what wish was granted. I'll try to add that feature in somehow, but space is becoming a premium.
One big change; many of the options you had to go to the options page for, can now be updated right from the main screen. Each list page has it's own options panel.
Another big option, will be the ability to set your own colors for the program. Want your buttons to be red, set them.
A lot of the things that did not work consistantly have been resolved as well.
If I can figure out how to do it, I want to add a report creator, where you can design your own reports.
The reports page is now a tab on the main screen, and the information pages will show up there as well. You will also be able to edit and save the information pages, as well as printing them out.
All printing functions have been vastly improved (Having learned more about how to print in VB.net).
I'll post some more news as a go along.

Yes, I would like to have an input value for businesses as well. What I was thinking was having a report to be able to show how business/household has done over a period of time in a graph form, as well as how the entire neighborhood has done over a period of time. I know that would require entering data every sim day and some people wouldn't want to do that, but the idea came to me because there is the previous 5 days graph that businesses have. I've often wondered how the other businesses are doing in relations to each other as well as the household too.

They are here (http://sims.wikia.com/wiki/Career_%28pet%29) on Sims Wiki, but I notice that there is no work time and you have to look at each career so I did a quick search and found this (http://strategywiki.org/wiki/The_Sims_2:_Pets/Pet_Careers), which has it all on one page.

I had already seen those, and neither has the level descriptions for each level. One of my sims has pets, so I'll get them from the game. I'll also try looking for them with SimPE.

Touché. But I just played one of my sims and found out the lasts one needed for the History Major (Sophomore 2 and Senior 2). "Memorizing Names and Dates: And Alternative to Learning" and "Historic Pessimism: Why We'll Never Learn"
Now what is needed is the Lit Majors (Sophomore 2 - Senior 2).
The race is on. ;)
P.S. I updated the previous post that had all of the info with this new info.

It looks like I will be able to import about 95% of the old SimTracker Information.
Note, that, at this time, Sim tracker can not Import data from the game, directly. However, I do plan to work on that.

I know there is interest in a Sim Tracker, for Sims 3, and when ever I can get Sims 3, I'll do one for it.
Question is, is there any interest in one For Sims 1?

The new sim tracker will let you set how long your garden plants take to grow. In case you have a mod that changes it.

Looks like I now have the House Tab done, just need to do some more testing.
As you may recall, when sorting the members list of one house, all houses were sorted the same way. This will no longer be the case. You will be able to sort each list seperately. One house can be sorted for Name, and another for age.
When playing with Dorms I found that sorting needs were sometime different.
Every List will now have the option to sort Manually, also.

14th Feb 2013, 04:58 AM
Sounds juicy. I can't wait to play with the new shiny toy.
Since you mentioned Dorms, I just recalled something that I was thinking. Where do I place to Dormies that are living in the Dorm? In the Roommates Tab? The reason I ask is because I would like to be able to say that this Dormie lives in this dorm. The same thing goes with apartments, but roommates and Townies living in the other apartments are different things. Also, what do I do with ghosts?
Let's say I have a playable sim household living in a haunted apartment with a roommate. Can there be a way to list the sims in the household, the roommate, the ghosts, and the townies who live in the other apartments without mixing up which sims is in which group? And would I also be able to do that with two or more playable households in the same apartment complex? I suspect that the situation would work similar with Dorms except less extreme and problematic because you can't have roommates, but there could still be ghosts. (I think. I've never had a sim die while in University. Hmm... )
RebaLynnTS
14th Feb 2013, 06:33 AM
In Dorms ... Playables go int the Members Tab, non-Playables go in the Roommates Tab (Same for Appartments, if you want all sims in an appartment complex listed together)
I'm toying with the idea of making an Appartment Tab, just not sure how it would work.
Ghosts ... I've never thought of listing Ghosts in the Sim Tracker. This can be handled in one of three ways.
1. List them in the Roommates Tab (Pet Ghosts would have to stay in the Pets Tab)
2. I can add a tab for Ghosts to the House Tab.
or 3. Just make note of them in the notes section.
I'm leaning towards number 2 (Now is the time to add these new features, after release it becomes harder to intergrate them.)
icemandeaf
14th Feb 2013, 06:18 PM
That sounds like the best idea because I would use the roommate tab for the ghosts and got confused who was alive and not. Also, in the current Sim Tracker, sims inter roommate tab would age regardless on my clicking "don't age", which in one way is nice because I could see how long ago a ghost died, but then I forget how old they were when they died.
RebaLynnTS
14th Feb 2013, 06:58 PM
Ghost Tab it is then.
In the old Sim Tracker Standard Small Pets were seperated from Custom Small Pets, now they will all be together.
I am considering adding a new Occupants Tab for Small Pets, but I have not decided yet. As it is, you can only mark that you have them, not how many, or their names (Except in the notes section)
RebaLynnTS
16th Feb 2013, 12:48 AM
Under "House" - "Occupants" I added a new tab "Other".
On this tab are threee lists
Small Pets
Sim Ghosts
and
Pet Ghosts
The list for Small Pets has "Type", "Name", and I am going to add "Date Purchased"
The lists for Sim Ghosts, and Pet Ghosts, have "Name", and "Death Date".
If anyone can think of anything I have left out, please let me know.
Anyone wanting to beta test, should let me know now.

Is the new version going to have an option to add custom careers to the career tab? I have a hood that doesn't use standard Maxis careers, so the option of adding info about custom careers would be very helpful. :)

Yes, Custom Careers is a must. The new version will have a better career editor, also. My plan, as it has always been, is to make career add on packs for custom careers. I will also be making a program that will allow folks to create custom career add on packs.
The built in career editor will allow you to add custom careers as well.

I watch the "Viewed" Number go up, significantly, every day, so that is encouraging. It's always nice to know, however, that someone is really waiting.

Update ... The new Wish Tracker will let you keep track of how many wishes were granted, and what they were, as well if they were successful, or not.
It has been moved to the Magic Tab, mostly due to needing more space.
Please remember, the more suggestions you make (even if I have already thought of them) the better this app will be.
With Sims 4 comming out next year, I might need to hire a team of programmers :)
Ofcourse, I can't pay them anything :)

As you know the New Version of Sim Tracker will have HTML based Quick View Pages for Businesses, Houses, Sims, and Pets. Would a Neighborhood Quick View Page be something you'd also like to have?
It would show a photo of the main hood, and each sub hood, as well as stats for each one, all on one page.

I don't know about other people, but I honestly don't know how something like this would work because I have never had anything like it before. I will say, however, that this does seem like a good idea to have especially for those who wish to post information about their game. (This is something I have thought about doing, but never did it just because I never got to it.)

* de-lurks for a moment *
Just wanted to let you know that I am very excited to read about all the new goodies in the pending Sim Tracker "v2" & can't wait until its official release. It sounds wonderful!
Also, I saw were you asked about any possible interest for a Sims 1 version of Sim Tracker & while this is just my "two cents" talking, I think there would definitely be an interest in such a thing. Contrary to what many folks may believe the Sims 1 fan base is NOT dead & is actually growing. (Thank you Sims 3 for being so crappy that you have actually driven folks back to the original game! With luck your new friend Sims 4 will have the same effect for both Sims 1 & 2!)
I dunno if you have checked out "CTO Sims" or "Active Sims 1 Sites" yet, but if that doesn't tell you that the Sims 1 world is alive & well, I don't know what will!
CTO Sims (membership is required but worth it as it is THE place for all things Sims 1)

Active Sims 1 Sites of the World

I actually installed Sims 1 on my laptop a few months back & have been having a blast! Sure, it isn't as awesome as Sims 2 is (for me) but it's still a lot of fun & brought back a lot of great memories for me.
Anyway that's my two cents.
Can't wait to see the new improved Sims 2 Sim Tracker & am thankful that you are plugging along despite the *silence* from the community.

Reba can I make a suggestion for inclusion? Can you make the traits (like skintones and eye colors) neighborhood specific? And which tabs are visible also neighborhood specific? I had (before my computer needed reformatting recently) one neighborhood where I default replaced the skintones with a set of colored skintones, thus I had renamed everything with the new color names (blue, yellow, pink, etc.) and have no desire to see pale, light, tan, and dark under my skintone drop-down menu, but I need them for a different neighborhood (which doesn't need the colored skintones visible). Also, the colored skin neighborhood doesn't need a lot of the tabs (magic for example) but my other neighborhoods do, and changing out which tabs appear every time I switch neighborhoods is a pain. So could the stuff we change in the neighborhood options be neighborhood-specific, b/c unless my tracker is malfunctioning, they obviously aren't.
In another note, I can't wait for this next version. Everything sounds amazing so far. ~VP

Violet, Those options are currently User dependent, so you could make a second user account to do what you are talking about, however, I can make the lists Hood dependent in this new version with little trouble. In fact, it would not be very hard to make it an option, so it can be done either way (Best of both worlds). The more suggestions I get now, the better.

I thought that I'd be out of ideas to put in because Sim Tracker has already been great and I have already suggested a lot. I just thought of something. Could there be a way to place information about Groups as in for outings and such? I have never really used them much mainly because I never really had a reason to, so it wasn't something that I thought of. Today, however, I was just thinking, "You know, I could use the group feature that came with Night Life for... hmm... Sim Tracker doesn't have that. Better tell Reba." :)

That is something I can add (if not right away, then later), I'll need to figure out exactly what to do with it first though.
I've never used Groups either, so I am not sured how they work.
You will notice when I release this version I am making extensive use of toolbars, they allow me to do more things in less space.
