Extremly long load time + unloadable savegame?

I made a new world in CAW (my first). I have had it open in Edit in Game and it worked fine. I think I have it ready to test out.
I have exported it and installed it in my game. It loads up fine.

Then I moved in a premade sim on an empty lot to test out the world and now the game is stuck in loading that lot up. It has been loading for somewhere between 10 and 20 minutes.

Is this normal?

EDIT: Now 10 min later it is still loading - I am guessing it should not do that.

No, are you using any mods/CC at all? If so, try removing them, deleting all caches (including the world caches) and trying again.

It's possible that the game has just hung whilst writing the caches, so if you don't have mods/ CC then just try exiting to main menu and loading the world again. When you play for the first time the game has to cache a lot of information, so that could possibly cause a glitch.

Thank you Simsample for the quick reply - I will try taking out all my mods and deleting my caches and see if that helps

Hurrah, well done! Not sure what that was then, maybe you had a corrupted cache or else an outdated mod?

It could be either really - anyway thank you for helping me getting it to work. Right now I am labouring at getting rid of routing problems - gosh that is boring work. I should have made a completely flat world - just kidding but I wish there was some way to highlight the problem areas. I am not all that good at being methodical.

I am having a different problem with my world now. It now installs fine, load up find and I can play sims in it. But if I save the game and go to the main menu I can not load up that savegame.
The game gives me the error that it would if I had uninstalled a EP that I used for a save game. I have all EPs and SPs installed so I can not figure out why it would be doing that. I have no mods or hacks installed at all right now so I think it is really odd. It do not seem to make a difference weather I have a sim on a lot then I save or not.

EDIT: I can see that the problem might be the 1.0 in the file name. I will try changing the name and re-exporting the world.

EDIT: I just wanted to report that changing the name worked!

Hehe, yes- you shouldn't use characters other than the alphabet and numerals in the world name.
