I'm sorry if this kind of question is innapropriate, I mean.. I didn't find it in the help page, maybe I just didn't see it, but I can't seem to activate the smooth edges on. I did make the changes in the file Programfiles/EAGames/Thesims2/TSData/UserData/Config/videocapture (and all the EPs) but when I open the game, it doesn't let me change the settings. I don't know if someone could help me or do we need a patch or something?
I heard smooth edges don't work on MAC too.. I don't know if it's true but anyway. My PC is recent so I don't think it's the problem.
If someone can help me I'd really appreciate.

Thanks.

I am a touch confused. I am not sure why you need to make changes in the videocapture file you mentioned. Is it because when you put smooth edges on IN GAME it does not stay on? Or is it because smooth edges is greyed out?

If smooth edges is greyed out, that is because the game thinks your video card does not support it. Is this a laptop? Desktop? What is your video card?

If smooth edges is greyed out, that is because the game thinks your video card does not support it.I had this exact problem after installing EPs on my new laptop (which works on Windows 7; my old one is XP). However, I soon discovered that contrary to my expectations, the integrated Intel graphics CHIP was used as the default setting for the display. After altering the default to the dedicated Nvidia graphics CARD the smooth edges option became usable again. My problem was down to the capabilities of the graphics option.
As Mootilda once said, it doesn't matter how NEW something is, it's whether it's got the right specs that judges performance. Think of your computer like a car (http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Your_Computer_is_Like_a_Car).

Maybe have a read of this as well: Game Help: Graphics Cards (http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Graphics_Cards), maybe other related pages. :)

It's greyed out. I have a desktop, I bought it recently, it's a good one, well, not a beast but way better than my old dinosaur one.
Here. I have like 640GB of space, 3.1ghz processor, 6mb Ram, and my memory card is Intel.
I have windows 7. On my dinosaur, I had 512 mb of Ram, something like 2.1 ghz processor, and I can't remember the name of the graphic card, but it was an old computer from the begining of 2000. And you know what? The smooth edges were actually working on that one !!! Ugh.. So I am thinking , is it just Windows 7?
Or is it my graphic card?!
It's so annoying.

I'm sorry I'm not english so I don't understand everything perfectly. What do you mean by altering the default to the dedicated Nvidia graphics card? Do you mean you changed your settings or you changed graphic card?
If it is settings, do you think you could tell me please?

Thank you for your reply by the way, I will check this out.

Do you mean "my graphics card is Intel"? Intel don't make memory. :) If you have Intel graphics, you probably won't be able to use smooth edges.

Yep - it's not a problem with Windows 7, it's a problem with crappy Intel graphics.
