Well yeah I was born in 1994...

And now today I still listen the 80s and 90s musics I still remember =D
In Australia, the fuel cost was so cheap in past few years and now today gets more expensive now!!!

The food were so cheap and the softdrinks were $1.00 in every vending machines and now today it's $2.50... :/ Soo expensive this year... :(

I was born in 1973.

I remember the early nineties when my dad was whining about gas going to $1.25 a gallon. Now it's easily three times that!

I'd take the $1.25....

I prefer to live in the present. If you always go on about the past you'll become one of the grumpy old folks complaining about the present (no offense to anybody). People never change. In the 90s they wished it was the 70s and so on. In 20 years they'll wish it was 2012 with our "quaint" way of live and our "cheap" prices.

The children now love luxury. They have bad manners, contempt for
authority, they show disrespect to their elders.... They no longer
rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents,
chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their
legs, and are tyrants over their teachers.
The young people of today think of nothing but themselves. They have
no reverence for parents or old age. They are impatient of all
restraint. They talk as if they alone knew everything and what passes
for wisdom with us is foolishness with them. As for girls, they are
forward, immodest and unwomanly in speech, behaviour and dress.
I see no hope for the future of our people if they are dependent on
frivolous youth of today, for certainly all youth are reckless beyond
words... When I was young, we were taught to be discreet and
respectful of elders, but the present youth are exceedingly wise
[disrespectful] and impatient of restraint" (Hesiod, 8th century BC).
Those were said in Roman times.

Kids these days. *grumble grumble* Back in the day, if you wanted a toy, you had to beg your parents to drive you to Toys 'R Us. It was eight miles uphill in the snow both ways! Now they just order it off Amazo-what's-it on their iThingy and it comes to their doorstep.

In all seriousness, I thank God I didn't have to go through middle and high school in this day in age where one of your most embarrassing moments can go straight from a classmate's camera phone to being a viral meme on Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and a dozen other sites before your third class of the day began. Being embarrassed in front of a handful of people was bad enough, thank you very much.

I kind of hated the 80s and the 90s were so and so. Don't miss any of them. As for the prices, don't know why people always compare them to what they were years ago. Prices have risen, but so have people's incomes. If you want cheap soft drinks you buy them from the supermarket.

In the eighties I was a sperm and in the nineties, I was a dumb kid.

It was a time, I'm sure. Full of hep cats and all that. groovy if you will. Man, remember that time those guys did the thing? MAN, PRICELESS. Remember that song? It was totes kewl. Oh my god, the clothes they used to wear! Hey, remember when music was music and TV was TV and movies were movies and we didn't have the epods or the imail and the the googobs and trinkets and we all just sat around getting diseases? phun thymes. Back in those days you could get $20 for a penny, which bought you a new car.

Let's all do the charleston!

I miss some of the tv shows that came out around then. Weird thing to miss, I know, but Star Trek The Next Generation, MacGyver, The Commish, Northern Exposure, Due South, Early Edition - those were great shows!

I also miss Sesame Street, Mr. Rogers, Reading Rainbow, Animorphs, Where in the World is Carmen Santiago, and many of the other PBS shows that my son watched when he was little. Mostly I miss the days of my son's childhood. :( We had a lot of fun together. I sure don't miss Barney or Power Rangers (although Rita Repulsa was a hoot).

The problem is there was a lot more terrible popular music in the '90s than in the '80s - there was that horrible period where bands like Hootie and the Blowfish, Creed, and Matchbox20 were popular. The worst '80s music is better than the worst '90s music by a significant margin, because the worst '90s music isn't even funny. Bad '80s music is tragicomic.

Whereas in the 80s I was in nappies bouncing to The Communards (http://youtu.be/Vl-xf22r5j4). And to think I grew up to marry a guy, huh? Still.

Edit: Although the '90s did have Salt N' Pepa and Missy Elliot, etc. For a while. I mean... ...there were masterpieces like Shoop (http://youtu.be/4vaN01VLYSQ) and Let's Talk About Sex (http://youtu.be/ydrtF45-y-g). But then in '97 they nearly destroyed their whole legacy with this (http://youtu.be/VGKAk7djRkk). The shame still burns.

The thing I love about the '80s were incredible music like this classic;

Of course I'm sure that I'm not the only one on these forums whom is an incredible fan of miami vice-ahh, those were the days! (That I was an ovum in my mom, and some sperm in my dad!)

I was born in the 90's, 1993 to be exact, I loved the 90's", The 90's had really good cartoons in my opinion, Batman the Animated Series was one of my Favorites as well, lots of good TV shows too and movies, and as maybesomethingdunno said about kids going to toys r us that's what I used to do when I was little if I seen something on TV back in the 90's, but now parents do always seem to order stuff right off of their Iphone's or computer or whatever they have, things sure have changed, In the 90's computers were just learning how to operate pretty much or well it seemed that way. Also things were cheaper back then, gas price's,pop, snacks, even fast food was so ridiculously cheap! I also think commercials were better in the 90's they were always either funny,Stupid, or had more thought put into them, and also fast food commercials used to be sexy sometimes, they used to have really hot woman in McDonald's advertisements :heyhey: Commercials aren't dirty anymore like they were in the 90's but music and movies sure are now.

Really? that stinks, well here in America the only character they have left is Ronald I don't think they use the other characters anymore... and Ronald doesn't appear in as many commercials as he used to, he only appears on occasions it seems, but most of the commercials now usually have people or something else, instead of Ronald McDonald.

Sometimes some of the McDonald's have little character billboards or whatever they are called in the play area for kids, of the older characters.

Yeah the 1990's were nice and so were the early 2000's, now when I get old, I'm gonna look back at this and say: I remember them 2020 days! or 2012 I mean!? or what was it again??? something!?? and look back and say those were... the days! The present is definitely nice technological wise compared to the 80's and 90's, People have achieved breakthroughs in Science and medicine since the 80's and 90's greatly!. I will always miss the 90's a little bit, but I will always have the good childhood memories and they will keep me forever strong for the future and that's what matters the most!

I was born in 1982, and anyone that knows me knows full well that I still live in the 90s. It makes me very sad knowing the prime of my life is gone, even more so during the blossoming age of computers and electronics. Words can not express ever how sad I am that these times are gone.

Edit: I'm sad now :\ *sigh*

I miss the economy of the 90's and traveling without having to be strip searched before you board a plane. I don't miss the music of the 80's or 90's cause I still listen to it. I've no desire to relive my teen years which would be the 80's but I wouldn't mind going through my 20's again I had quite a bit of fun.

Heh, like on YouTube where you just look at ANYTHING from the 90s (even if you don't know it's from the 90s at all, you're just looking at it) and then you find these comments saying, "Growing up in the 90s, I loved this, now I look at today and I wish I was a child again" or something like that and it gets annoying. If you comment back to them saying, "WHO CARES??? CAN'T YOU SEE OUR WORLD IS CHANGING???" they'll give you some crappy answer like, "And what did the 00s bring us? Justin Bieber, Hannah Montana, Lady Gaga..." and so on. (Trust me, I did that once and that's basically what they said. Although I admit, Justin Bieber sucks...)

The 90's was full of Sally Jesse Raphael and Jenny Jones and Richard Bey and Ricki Lake and Maury Povich and Leeza and Dr. Joy Brown and Montel Williams featuring that psychic Sylvia Browne. I wonder if she quit smoking. My friends criticized me with their opinion that shows of that kind were for trashy people. Well the world is my garbage can because I could not take my eyes of that stuff. Jerry Springer had midget kkk as guests, they came out wearing their hoods and saluted the audience with the diagonal arm and fumbled out "white midget power!" in poor synchronization. Since then, my urge to visit Italy to see the tower, or India or Egypt or Turkey or Tokyo is gone. No predecessors of Audiotistic or Nocturnal Wonderland. No point to any of that after w-m-p.

Reagan baby here (I'm in my mid 20s). Here's my take on this.

I think overall, the music was probably better than what's available now. I try to keep an open mind, but presently there is very, very little in the way of modern music I find to be alright.

However, keep this in mind. Everyone looking back and saying the music was better in the 60s, 70s, 80s, or whatever, is only listening to the music that stood the test of time. The music that was actually good enough that people today still listen to it. Not every band that was around in a given time period was good. It's just the ones that weren't all that good, are the ones that have since faded into obscurity, that people forgot about.

Today's music, you have good along with the bad, and the bad hasn't yet faded into obscurity. My point is, in 40 years, or even 20 years, is anyone going to remember "Puff Daddy," Britney Spears, or N'Sync? I seriously doubt it.

I remember when you could buy soda cans out of a vending machine for $.50 , when there was no DHS (it seemed redundant to me, still does...isn't that why we have the CIA, FBI, and the military?). I remember when playgrounds weren't made out of plastic with rubber bits on the ground. Swings used chains, jungle gyms were made with steel and wood, and the ground was covered in gravel. No one wants a child to get hurt, but there's really such a thing as taking the safety thing way too far.

There used to be a time when no one freaked out if a kid got a skinned knee. The adults just applied disinfectant, put on a bandage, and the kid was fine. One time as a kid, I even fell off a jungle gym and I needed stitches. Not only did I pull through it alright, but I even learned a valuable lesson that day - be careful. Being a kid at the time, of course adults told me to be careful, but words just don't have the same meaning as that experience.

I distinctly remember when the N64 and the PS1 were the latest video game consoles at the time, and we thought the 3D graphics were SO amazing. In fact, this is another thing I'd like to touch upon; video games in general. I had the feeling developers simply put far more thought and effort into games than they do now. Some developers still do, but that seems more the exception than the rule now. Or maybe I just haven't been playing the right games, I don't know. It's almost as if developers are relying too much upon fancy graphics to make up for actual game play deficiencies.

In fact, this can be extended to film as well. I haven't seen a truly NEW film in a long time. That is, an actual new type of plot, type of story. But wait a minute, we still have film theaters and new release films, right? Well, yes and no. My point is, it's been a long time since I've seen a film that wasn't predictable, that I couldn't guess, with almost 99.9% accuracy, about what happens next. Oh, and as for things like Green Lantern, Batman, and Superman? They were around even in the 30s or so, used again and again. I'd like something new, something where I really don't know what comes next.

Also, not everything about the 80s or 90s was all good. If a VHS tape gets jammed in the player, it often was so much trouble to get the tape out that sometimes, you were better off just getting another VCR. If a DVD gets scratched, that's unfortunate but at least you can probably keep using the player. Audio cassettes suffered similar problems. These are things from the 80s and 90s that I don't miss at all. Though this reminds me of something from the 80s that was good.

One thing the 80s brought us was when Sony released the Walkman. It was a portable music player that while very expensive at the time, was almost revolutionary. Before then, there was almost no product quite like it. If you had enough batteries and an audio cassette, you could play music no matter where you went. There's the "boom box," but they weren't as easily portable. Since then, many improvements were made. There were Audio CD versions, and later devices that could store audio files (MP3, WMA, etc.). Though nowadays, the popularity of the "smart phone" has likely mostly eroded this market to almost nothing. I've read for instance, that Apple's I-Phone has very much cannibalized their demand for I-Pods.

Oh, and I think we can do without parachute trousers.

RomerJon17 don't you just hate how we missed out on some of the most awesome decades? I was born in the early 90's ('93) and the only part of the 90s I remember are 1998 - 1999. The early 2000s were great too though, the cartoons of the 90s remained in the 000's, Sesame Street, The Magic School Bus, Teletubbies, ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK! and all of those awesome Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network toons. So many things the kids of the newer generation will never know about, including the original game boys (Tetris anyone?), the original playstation (where you had to blow the games after an hour or two of playing), big heavy cellphones, old modeled computers, VHS Tapes! CD Players! Tamagochi's (remember those?), Soooo much.

Anyway these shows aren't showing any more and VHS Tapes are no longer made any more except for recording...

CD's are still selling but not many customers are buying CD's because of mp3 players and stuff to download...

I miss the 2000's.

I guess I'm the odd one out. Even though I was born in the late 80s, my nostalgia comes from the 2000's (mainly 2002 - 2008).

I'm not obsessed with the 90s like everybody else my age seems to be.

same but I loved the 90s in a way...I just didn't like it as much as the 00s because although I loved many things about my childhood, that was also where my mental problems started.
well actually I guess I didn't technically like the 00s in general because there were some bad years. specifically I just miss 2005-2009. those were the best years ever! my mom had a job (so we had more money to do things) and my friend and I had more fun...we would stay up late and laugh like crazy a lot. idk we were a mess but I loved our mess
I know people here are saying stop looking at the past but I never wanted to grow up you know. remember how so many kids were in a hurry to grow up? well I was the kid that tried to hang onto my childhood as much as possible. in fact in the last year of high school I played hooky a lot because I didn't want it to end. I still didn't have my grandma but I had Rosie who I loved a lot (and still miss, now I'm not sure I want a bunny anymore...part of me wants to just because I loved bunnies so much but I'll have to get a different breed) and her kids at one point

2012 is the worst. the economy is bad, we have little money and my anxiety got the worst on my birthday.
tv and music (mainstream) sucks in general.
but I do see some good things. I have Rocky (who has an attitude problem at times but he can be so cute) and even though I still hate my city, I love our apt complex. it's so much better than our old one.

Born 1987. But damn, I miss the 80's Music. That was probably the best decade for music, but I did love the 90's as well. Good shows, and good music as well. Then again the 80's had good shows.

But I loved the 70's as well. Charlie's Angels. And one of my favorite movies of ALL time. The Rocky Horror Picture Show. (NOT intended for people under the age of 18 or homophobic people. Seeing the main character is a Transvestite. Tim Curry did such an amazing job, love love love The Rocky Horror Picture Show

Everyone keeps saying "I miss this and I miss that.." but you can still watch those shows now, they didn't disappear. You can still listen to that music now, we have recordings of it. Some would say they miss the atmosphere of those old time periods, before all this corruption and over sexualization and such, but that has ALWAYS been around since the 80's and the 60's and the 20's all the way back to biblical times. Really, no time is the perfect time. Anyone wishing for 'the old days' should watch the movie 'Midnight in Paris' It's a great movie starring Owen Wilson (it's not a comedy) as a man who is in love with the romance of Paris in the 20's and finds a way to travel back in time.

actually you can't watch the shows as easily not since the govt decided to get nasty and worry about copyright...some episodes you can find if you search for certain sites but others you have to keep looking. plus why should you have to find them on computer? why can't we have a nice company and them put it on demand if they're not on tv?
bottom line is whether you can listen to music or shows or not, it wouldn't be the same because they would be old. sure reruns can be enjoyable and some shows I can watch reruns from several times over but the point was when I said tv generally sucks now, it means less of new things to look forward to (and some episodes/shows I do not watch over) sometimes you just want something different. this is especially true for music. I love listening to older songs but at the same time I'd like to listen to something different once in a while

as for the atmosphere, true no time was the perfect time but the years that I mentioned in my life were good enough for me. of course like I said before it's not like there are no positives now (I wouldn't give Rocky up for the world) but my point was life was more fun then. I know I can't really have my ice cream cake and eat it too but the most important and not impossible positives could come back (perhaps bring back the food that I loved that was discontinued for example), it'd be great.

I was born in 1994 too, but I really miss stuff from the 80s and 90s. Today, I feel like everything aimed towards my generation TV, song and just EVERYTHING is focused on being a celebrity, fame, singing, dancing, being beautiful and all that. I can hardly relate to people because I'm not very interested in any of that.

I enjoy the technology I have, but I hate how everything technology-wise is focused on Facebook, Twitter and all that shit. I'm a private person. Let me sign up with this without a damn Facebook.
