So I've decided to make a world that I actually intend to finish. It's on the tiniest map mainly because I wanted something to play that was small... I'm not really sure what to name it yet ( I was thinking something along the lines of "The Lost Colony"), so any ideas are welcome!

Overall layout thus far:

I'm not using roads because they take up too much room. The sidewalks will be turned into a dirt path later on, once I have all of the buildings in place.

Here are currently the empty lots. I don't have any places down for houses yet. The lot on the top left will be the school/library. The next one down I was thinking could be a science center/hospital and the one immediately to the left of the park is going to be the "theater".

City Hall: Has city hall/police/military

Consignment Store/Grocery: I'm going to have to test this lot to see if it works, but the lot is assigned consignment store and has the register and I have the grocery store rabbithole door in the basement.

I know the terrain paint needs some work, especially where the lots are and such, but any and all feedback is welcome!

This is just sooo cute. I love the idea of having such a cozy town instead of a large map. I would really like to download this map once you're all finished with it.

Lovely! I love small neighbourhoods, as I never get to fill up the large ones. I always download the smalles islands for TS2 aswell :)

Here is the "theater"- it's more of a bandstand, but it *is* a tiny place ;). The rabbithole door for the theater is in the basement.

So you placed the rabbithole in the basement? Well I kinda hoped It will be placed on street level :(
By the way, what is the size of the map?

It's tiny, therefore all of the rabbitholes doors are in the basements of every lot because regular rabbitholes are far too big. Thanks everyone! More pics will be coming! :)

You could use Jynx's Rabbit Hole Rugs?

PLus, the world looks lovely, especially the view from the church, which I assume is the highest lot on the island :)

I'm using these for the rabbitholes, they're just in the basements because they don't match with how I want the buildings to look. http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=435107

Yep, the church is the highest lot. :)

Ok, I have a sort of update. I started laying out how I want the lots to go. They're not meant to be in a strict order, more of a "this is my land so I'm going to build here thing."

A- Church/graveyard B- Town hall (politics/military/police) C- Consignment shop/grocery store D- bookstore E- Cafe F- Salon/tattoo G- Park H- "Theater" I- Fishing spot J- Science/hostpital K-community garden L- School/library M- Bar? N- Beach

As Armi suggested in #create, I will be putting in a fire station too, I just haven't figured out where yet.

Also, the sidewalks will end up being dirt eventually...

I started building the salon/tatto parlor last night. I've just got the outside right now because it was 4 am...

It all looks amazing so far, but it might be quite nice to have (at least the idea of) a dock or small port of something just to give the idea that this community fits in with the mainland (they would need to get supplies after all!) You could turn it into a fishing spot, if you built it out of build mode stuff, or just use a neighbourhood decoration if such an object exists.

Very cute! You've done a good job capturing the feel of a small island community. Just one caution, though, if you don't intend to have roads. The school will give an error every day because the buses have to have roads to pick up the children. No one will be able to ride bicycles or scooters, either. I think you can send the children to school manually, but you'll still get the error. Better, perhaps, to "home school" and not have the school building. This might also be the case with the fire station, but I'm not sure. Does it have to have roads for the fire truck? Sims are fine to walk to the other buildings you've listed, I believe.

The firestation does actually still work- They just run to wherever they need to go, and since the island is so small, it doesn't take very long to get anywhere. As for the schoolhouse, I've had sim kids who've walked to school automatically, but I'll continue to test that to make sure it works.

I love it. I love it because it is tiny but still will have just about everything. I love your custom made lots, like the cafe and the shop. I'm not very font of the church, but that's just me and I'm not really fond of any church :P. And about the landscape I love all the rocks at the back, I think they look awesome! Oh! and the park is the most lovely thing I have seen in long time haha, really really loved it.

It's wonderful! I hope you have a version available for download soon. I absolutely love the idea of sidewalks only. Congratulations on making such a lovely little island! :)
