This challenge is not about scoring. It's about changing your characters for the better. You can create five or six sims. And do you want to modifiy it further by adding more characters, or making the story a one on one challenge? That's great. Here's how I modified the game and the book from whence it came.

Victim one is Gorrister. He has a memory of his wife died in that mysterious swimming pool with no ladder. Her ghost still haunts him. Gorrister has no cooking skill, a pair of runs-with-scissors, and a chance to kill himself every way possible. Use what you want to make this more difficult. Can you prevent his death for 30 days?

Victim two is Benny. This is my favorite for the challenge. He wears the gorilla suit every day. Yet another fool who believes he is a gorilla. I like the bit about him being a homosexual scientist, but he'll find it difficult to go to work, or find a boyfriend in this challenge. Knowledge sim is a good fit. I will change him this way. The gorilla starts out furious and fighting every sim trapped in this house. Change him so that he is at least peaceful, maybe friends with the other four trapped victims. In the book, he lives as a cave man and is obsessed over food and eating.

Victim three is Ellen. She retains an intense fear of the color yellow. Without downlaods, you can create a house with lockable doors (yellow frames, of course) and yellow themed walls. At random, change the colors to allow her to enter one room and prevent entry to another. It's up to you to lock doors which she cannot enter. Let her avoid starving, and complete a challenge you assign to her. Any house based challenge will do. Maxing out a career can't happen, as she doesn't leave the house.

Victim four is Nimdok. He is a challenge to bring to The Sims 2. Without a concentration camp, and without a big change to the vanilla reality to sims, Nimdok needs something. Nimdok is a writer who must record the events of this house, and write about his memory of "The Search for Bobby Fisher, and This Time We're Really Trying", an event his witnessed many years ago. His terrible condition in the house will make progress difficult. He uses friendly persuasion to get AM to release the housemates.

Victim five is Ted. His job is to save the lives of all five characters. Anyone close to dying needs to be saved. He cannot use friendly persuasion, but must find some way to stop AM and release his housemates. He must repair any broken objects. He must not be electrocuted. Like Ellen, he can pick an in-game challenge to defeat AM. He might even win a few fistfights against AM.

You might create a sixth character, AM. Who said it must be a computer, or even a servo? Maybe this is the initials of a mad scientist, or a plant sim deranged and punishing innocent people for environmental crimes. AM must keep the five imprisoned and tortured while keeping them alive. If the five die, who will AM play with? Do not talk with Nimdok but accept his requests. Insult him if you can. You can't cancel any social interaction Nimdok does. AM can fight Ted, but AM must suffer any losses.

Questions: 1) In the game, there is a dying "Ellen" for Ted, with whom he interacts. A sick or pregnant woman can be made. You cannot control her. Ted must try to keep her fed and happy, and certainly don't die. Should you include this in the game, and how can you make it a challenge? 2) Would Benny's boyfriend add anything to the game? He is there to make Benny gay, but he can also die. 3) How can we use Nimdok's history and quest from the book?

The end. I don't have any slug-like creatures for you. I'm sorry and I haven't seen any to download. If the simmies die, Ted and AM fail partly. If they all die, they fail completely. If Nimdok can befriend AM to 100/100 and.. oh add something.. like influence AM to clean the house for once, that's a victory. If Ted defeats AM, that's a victory. You can make more ways to achieve victory or failure. Above all, this is a challenge which I suggest you adapt and modify. You might always play Ted. Every character has the potential to be played. You can play any of the other characters too. I think AM can change the house in any way it wants too. (evil laughs here)

If you've read the book or played the game, please add more to this thread. Here is my source material. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Have_No_Mouth,_and_I_Must_Scream_%28video_game%29

I love the sound of this, even though I haven't read the book. The title drew me and it sounds like it has great scope for storytelling and characterisation. Will certainly give it a go when I get the chance, mentally bookmarked. May post my updates too, if I get time! :)

Do you have suggestions about what personality traits to give them? How do make him so that he's furious and wants to fight everyone when he starts out, for example?

I've found that using boolProp and then "Sim Modder" to alter the relationships works best for that.
