Safe downloads, strictly moderated downloads, how the moderators are friendly and actually do their jobs, the people, how it's organized, that everything is FREE, the social sections, and how everyone seems to have a brain! :D

I originally came for the downloads, stayed for the people.

I've completely lost interest in The Sims to be honest, but I still like to lurk around here.

Safe and scanned downloads (no bullshit!), it's clear and concise, most of the people are civil, the mods are great for the most part, and everything is free!

Not to sound cliche, but I love EVERYTHING about modthesims!

Seriously. Everything.

I can download amazing new decor or furnishings for my homes/venues.
I can download real-life brand items (from Apple products to exotic Ferraris) - (I love trying to make sims as realistic as possible lol).

If I get stuck in the game, or while building a house/venue/world, I can post a question to the forums and get TONS of helpful feedback.

I love just coming on here, and looking at all of the random things that were uploaded that day. Hair recolors, mansions, worlds, career mods, etc.

The modthesims community is SOOOOOO diverse, I absolutely love it..

So, there you have it.. My favorite thing about modthesims, is modthesims itself :D

I love this site because it has given me so many people I love.

I met my husband through this site. I also met my best friend through our live chat.

Without this site, the gurgling baby on my lap and the 3 year old goofball asleep upstairs would not exist.

And I've met many other fantastic people through MTS too - friends, acquaintances, people I've learned so much from.

Pixel dollies and content and tutorials are great and all, but I think I've gotten much, much more and better out of MTS than that. :)

To be still on this site after just a year (or even a few months) is a HUGE thing for me, this site is awesome in my book. Usually I get bored and leave, and yet this site has everything I could want to get the best playing experience from the sims. Like everyone has already said, this place is well organised, full of helpful advice, has great custom content and is brimming with great company. :) I'm glad to be apart of such an amazing online community.

I like how much nicer most of the people on here are compared to those on IMDB. People there are very hateful. They tend to twist your words and put words into your mouth. Some think people that don't agree with them and have an opinion opposite of their's should NOT post. Most of the time when someone disagrees, they will be very hateful to and attack the other person. Also, a lot on there are fake and shallow. There are several of us who got fed up with it and deleted our accounts.

I like how everyone is nice here. They are such assholes at MATY. I've never registered because I know they rip apart newcomers like they are not fellow human beings. I mean seriously, I get that it can be irritating if someone does not communicate well, but why must you pick apart every little mistake anyone ever makes? (I know Pescado will probably read this, and I am ok with that. It's his forum, he can do whatever he wants with it. He has his opinion, just like I have mine.).

I also like the mod que, because it prevents vague and inappropriate/useless uploads. The creativity here is stellar, I love that also.

Not to mention whenever I have a sims related problem, I can just post here and within 24 hours I have a response and within 48 hours I usually have a solution.

Last but not least, the mods and admins here actually have a brain and not only do their jobs, but do them well.

IMDB is a cesspool of angry film nerds. I don't even bother reading the comments because they're usually just awful.

I'm sure there are some cool people, but they're hiding.

I just wanted to add that not all of them are angry film nerds. I've encountered several who just simply want to show their extreme hatred of anything or anyone who is different from them in any way. There were quite a few of us who were called all kinds of names/insults just because we believe in Jesus Christ and are NOT ashamed of it; or too scared to stand up for ourselves. It was to the point that I was EXTREMELY surprised that I did not get any hatred or grief on here when I told my beliefs on here when someone asked.

P.S.- Religion was NOT the only reason people received hate for.

P.P.S- If there are cool people there who are just hiding, then they are REALLY good hiders. I would hate to have to play against them in a game of hide and seek!

Except for the last part(s) of my last post, I thought I was on topic. I said I liked it here because of how different it is from IMDB, then gave specifics. Seriously, when I first started coming to the social forums, I was amazed that people here could discuss things without getting hateful.

I come here to share content and my love of the game, I still find the sims community a lil bit cliquey so I tend to stay away from it all and not get too involved though occasionally I get dragged in, but the best part of the game is sharing it with others.

Over the years I have met some lovely people on this site but I've also met a lot of people I share different views with, I love that and think if we could all have a rational discussion about what we believe in and why and not offend others the world would be a better place, unfortunately not everyone is ready for that :(

I like the layout---it is simple and easy to navigate. I hate it when sites have giant flashing banners that take up half the screen. Or forums which allow people to have large picture signatures that are longer their actual post.

And MTS has wonderful moderators who actually do stuff, like move threads and close irrelevant ones. I like the community here, where the people are helpful and don't type in annoying chatspeak. This is probably the best sims community.

He does that for a reason, and they don't just go, "NEWCOMERS! FRESH MEAT TO GRIND!" They actually just brutally judge people, and expect to be mocked, assaulted, and possibly banned if you are an idiot on there.

What I like about this site is that the community is well-balanced.

The members of most of the forums I join are either sickly sweet or extremely rude. Others that are not are often near-dead forum boards with one post per month .

P.S.- To those posting about it, what is MATY?

MATY stands for More Awesome Than You. It is a website run by the fabulous Pescado. He has a lot of great mods, many I simply could not do without.

However, MATY's forums are a bit like being in the middle of a riot. There might be a lot of normal people there, but they are looking for someone to pound on. If you ask a question they deem stupid, if your grammar is not good, or if you don't have a lot of computer knowledge, you are fair game. While I think they are just having a good time, I know I couldn't make myself post there for fear I would lose all my self-esteem by the time they were done with the verbal beating I would take.

It works for them and they seem to be enjoying themselves, but I would tread lightly if I had to ask a question.

Nevertheless, the website is GREAT, and you don't have to be a member to download, so look into it.

SommarBlomma

1. some useful downloads
2. interesting discussions on forums
3. how quickly the questions are answered. Whenever I have a problem with the game or CC, or just a question, and ask about fixing it, I sually get the answer very quiclky, and from people who KNOW what I'm talking about and what to do with that, not like "well, probably try this... doesnt' work? - oh, I don't know then..."
4. moderators doing their job well, all inappropriate, insulting posts and content are deleted, so we can enjoy friendly talk here without seeing all that crap, and dealing with trolls
5. CFF
6. Interesting screenshots in the picture thread. On some sites the screenshots are photoshopped like hell, but on most of them, it looks like all the posters are 10 or younger, so primitive. But here, I can browse through some pics threads long, and find tons of interesting ideas. Very creative and inspiring.

And now, may i say what I actually dislike? It's just one thing: the content that can be in sims3packs (like furniture, building materials, etc) are in packages. But that's not a big deal, after all. They can be converted.

- This is a great place to stay updated on the game.
- Always someone who knows.
- Lots of great building mods.
- Easier to find my way then lots of other places.
- Lively community.
- Feedback forum with genuin feedback.

You didn't ask about negative things, but you need to hear those too ;)

I sometimes finds it a bit annoying with the rules here, but I still understand why.
Note that I don't agree with MTS on their download policies. They are too slim. Quality is good, but what is quality in art really? We could keep a discussion on that for ages, and still not agree.

... and I've learned a lot here since i first found the site. I still do.

Aside from the colossal collection of custom content and the amazing community of awesome people, I like the little things. The simplicity of the website which loads instantly on my slow internet connection, I love the little agree/disagree/helpful/funny/love buttons. Sometimes it's just enough of a reply. Although some people do abuse its purpose occasionally, lol.
I love the profile layouts, they're so straightforward. I love the amount of information that is provided here, if there is one to rule them all it would definitely be MTS!

I love the little agree/disagree/helpful/funny/love buttons.
Me too! They make me wish they were on every website I go on. If someone posts a FB status about something bad that happened to them, I want to push a button that says "sympathies" or "love" or something. I don't want to "like" it. I guess you could argue that I could just tell them, but if I don't know them that well they could be flustered or potentially annoyed. And if someone posts a comment on someone's status that is rude, I'd like the option to "disagree" without having to actually get in an argument. "Funny" and "Helpful" are great, too. Funny would be nice for pictures, and helpful would be nice for comments.

What i like is:
- good navigation. there are menu's and there is a search button. everything is easy to find.
- good and clean CC. no trackers, no errors, no problems
- helpfull. the staff behind MTS tries to help everyone and puts you in the right direction. the wiki covers alot of things.
- the place in general. there's a good atmosphere here.
and best of all: it's free. no illegal paystuff here.

I like the way we don't jump on people with less than perfect English, it's the effort that matters. I only speak one language so I'm in awe of anyone from a non English speaking background in here.

It's good to see the range of ages here too, and to see the amazing maturity of some of our younger members. I've been surprised a few times when I find an articulate and bright poster is only 14 or whatever. It makes me feel good knowing we have such talent out there for the next generation, especially after getting nothing but grunts and blank looks from my teenage boys!

Mostly what I love though, is the kindness of posters and mods here. We can post freely and won't be put down for not knowing something or having a different opinion, it's a friendly place and I feel welcome even if I don't post much. It's funny how often I'll be reading a post and find myself nodding agreement or talking to the screen as if I'm in the same room as you - it's incredible to think you're often on the other side of the world to me.

And of course the cc creators. I still can't quite believe someone will spend so much time making something and then just share it around. The generosity is amazing and all of us who couldn't create a stick figure thank you :gjob:

I came here originally for the mods - it's only been recently that I discovered the forums (by accident really) and since then I've been using the site more. I don't generally participate in forums because other forums I lurk on are just full of arguments and hatred so it's quite nice to find a forum where people aren't like that.

I like the downloads here but I love the people here most of all. I think it's amazing that we're all connected by this game series and that if we all just want to talk about a bunch of pixel people no-one judges us because it's what we all do. No matter the country, age or whatever we all just sim for the fun of it. Plus, everyone here is nice - I feel like if the Internet was another 'real' world (like Earth), MTS would be my home. :)

+Just the funny moments that happen on here. :) I like seeing what other players' Sims look like besides my own; maybe I'll share one day if I'm not feeling too lazy to figure out how to post pictures. I like it when someone makes an interesting post and then someone replies with a funny answer you just gotta click "funny" or "love" for, and all the amazing new discoveries found in-game that I never knew were possible, despite having played for years.

+Mods and Admins can be funny when they're policing a thread; they aren't cruel or unreasonable, and won't bite you for moving topics onto other things than the Sims.

+I also like this site because it's one of only sites I feel safe and invited to go on. After the Sims 2's site starting going bonkers, I searched for a new place to read Sim stories and participate in fun threads. Not only does ModtheSims have that, but it's practically a tree in a desert wasteland. A lot of Sims sites are shut down or are shutting down, but this one's still alive and kicking. I'm just glad that I've found a place where an old game like the Sims 2 wasn't just kicked to the side and replaced with newer games. I love the Sims 2, so therefore, I love ModtheSims!
