I've tried this achievement as well, and never got it either. I played it all ways incase it was badly worded or I misinterpreted the text for it, with no luck. I have heard a couple of people say they got this but it took them multiple attempts and they didn't do anything differently that they hadn't done previously, which made me wonder if there's a count for it that isn't listed, but as you can see from below there doesn't seem to be. Once each like the text says and you should be given it. So it seems to be luck as to whether the achievement procs or not.
*EDIT*....actually looking at this text again, it specifies Knight Captain as the knight's rank for the achievement to proc. Can you confirm what your knight's title is at the moment. You may need to level them up to get it.
As soon as I get a knight in my current kingdom I'll give this one a shot again, since I can't remember what lvl my knight was when I tried this...I think they were only around lvl 3 though.

Just wanted to say that I finally got this achievement to proc. Took between 3 - 4 hours on each trainee to get it, incase anyone is still trying. I was ready to give up and try something else, when it popped up.
