Is there a program that can acually load up the CAS outside of Sims 3? I have heard of a release demo from 2009 but I can't manage to download it anywhere. Or has someone created a way to make characters outside of the game somehow?
Why??... Game takes to long to load to sit there and wait to see how a newly created item is going to render in-game just to more than likely have to back out and edit it.

I think it's on TS3 base game disk, isn't it? Never load it up as I suck at CAS, there are tons of amazing sims who are surprisingly realistic or drop-dead gorgeous for me to download.

There was a CAS that you could buy separately from the game, but it was... um, crap. Had only the features in CAS at the time (so additional things like opacity sliders, muscle sliders, boob sliders, etc. won't be in it) and it doesn't detect custom content at all. So... not useful to creators, and you have to pay extra. Blech.

I'd recommend Claeric's CAS World (http://fuzzylogicdishwasher.blogspot.co.uk/2010/03/world-for-sim-and-clothing.html) it was made for CAS creators :)

Actually the stand alone CAS was able to use CC, you just had to install the framework like you normally would.

Huh, interesting. I guess when I saw info on it, people hadn't figured that out yet.

Isn't there a way to detect the resouces that it pulls in when you are loading CAS Demo and edit them?
