View Full Version : Any way to avoid "black/void skin" from removing custom skin?

I'm working on going through a lot of custom content because it's slowing my game down and I don't use a lot of it. I've realized that I have a ton of custom, non-default skins and there's a particular family I've put a lot of time and effort into. I don't know which skin(s) I specifically used for them because most of them in game don't have distinguishing characteristics between them.

I read in another post about going in (after the skin was already deleted and the sim had the skin issue) and changing the skin, but I haven't fully understood how that works since I haven't heard of a way to edit families and such already created.

Are there any particular methods anyone would recommend as to how to go about and deleting custom skins and hopefully not damage the sims already created?

AFAIK, the only ways to avoid it are:

1) Don't delete the skin in the first place or
2) If you do delete it, edit the affected sim in CAS to change their skin. You'll need to select a different skin, then switch what clothing they're displaying with (just switch to sleepwear or swimwear) to reset the skin display fully. I like using Nraas Master Controller to go into CAS to edit existing sims; just make sure to not switch their age in CAS (only the skin) as switching some things like age can screw things up, apparently.

Or, you could avoid the black skin altogether by switching all the sims in that family to a default skin before removing the CC skin.

You can also use testingcheatsenabled and shift-click the sim, to edit them in CAS without using any mods.

I'll try this method first, thanks for your help!
