Hello everyone,
What im trying to do is move my family (currently in hidden springs) to another, perhaps custom town that has ALL the venues. Hidden Springs didnt even have clubs when I first came to it and the terrain is so uneven that Im very limited on what I can add. The problem im having though, is that my family owns half the city.. Is there anyway for me to move towns, but keep the invested businesses and venues? Usually I wouldnt mind just moving and starting from scratch, but my main sim also has a very high paying job and that plus the investments keep the family moving forward. Id hate to have to start from scratch at the bottom of the career chain.. and have to re-invest hundreds of thousands into a new city.
So does anyone know any tricks or techniques to make this dream come true, or am I screwed at a crossroads?

To my knowledge, you are screwed.

Have them sell the properties. From edit town, save the family (with or without the house, up to you; if without, the value of the house and furnishings will be added to the family funds). Go to your new town. Use choose a household, and put your family into the new home. All the family funds (with the money you got from selling all the venues/businesses) will go with them (and pay for the new house). The family will retain the same jobs and levels, as well as their personal inventories. Now, just re-buy whatever investment you want to, and your move, financially, will be lateral, from one town to the other. The family inventory does not transfer with them, so if there is anything in there you want, put it in the personal inventory of one of the family members. If you can't place it in a personal inventory, just sell it. While used objects do decline in value (how does a pixel object decay, anyway?), the penalty is pretty small in this scenario. Enjoy your new home.

Thanks for the suggestion, since iv never sold a business before I was under the impression id only gain a fraction of my initial investment back. But if I understand you correctly I should get back a pretty good bit off the sale. As for the careers, the only thing I was concerned about was the fact that my main sim makes an upward of 4k per day at his current job, and as you can imagine it took awhile lol. But oh well, thank you anyways. I guess having more venues and a bigger population available may be worth the short-time financial loss. :)

Actually, you get back exactly what you paid for the business. No financial loss. When your employed sim moves, they will have the same job, position, and salary as they held in the old town.

In a case like this I would feel free to cheat to recover anything that was irretrievably lost in the move, using Twallan's Master Controller with the Cheats module...
but you may not need to.

AFAIK nothing at all gets lost. Even the family, fridge and bookcase inventories stay intact. And if you sell the properties before you move you'll receive back the money you invested plus all the revenue you haven't collected yet. I think that it was so when there were still those deeds that you lost money when you sold them, but since Ambitions nothing gets lost. And rebuying after the move is really easy when you do it via the computer.
Some things may change, however, that are rather minor: Any skill certificate is rendered useless (you can't view them anymore), dishes in the fridge may be spoiled after the move (even in the Minus One Kelvin fridge) and whenever I moved a family without their house I lost random things like all fish or all relics I gathered from adventures. Other small things that change are: if you upgraded a motorcycle this will be reset, and even though your plumbings have become unbrekable because of your Plumber handiness achievement, they will break again after the move, but any upgrade to objects will remain.

Really?? Great! All i was really worried about was the salary so I dont have to go "broke" for the 1st in-game month or so :)

Believe it or not I actually get a huge burst of anxiety and guilt when cheating on games (i know, weird but true since i was young) so thats not really an option. Luckily however from the sounds of it ill retain nearly everything before the move anyways, thanks for the suggestion though :D

Thanks for the information :!: I'll actually be moving the entire house and family so hopefully I wont have too many of those issues, and as for the plumbing stuff I can always use new stuff for my scientist to fix :) All in all the move is sounding alot more bearable. Thanks again for the help and advice.
