Has anyone tried running a farm on an owned community lot?

The produce stays planted, but I have no idea if it will recognize the days for the plants to actually grow. I'm planning on hiring some teens to do most of the weeding.

If it doesn't recognize the plants as growing (which is probably why I can't find anything about anyone else trying this), after the correct amount of days I can use testingcheats to make them harvestable, though they are instantly "thriving" when it is used.

Yeah I've done it. It worked out pretty well. The plants grew while the family was on the lot, and then stopped growing when they left, only to continue from where they left off at next time I brought the family back.

I didn't have any employees though, so I don't know if you'll be able to set them to weeding and harvesting and such.

I think theres a hack at simwardrobe that allows employee gardening, but I can never get employees not to quick. I'm using the meeting controller from simlogical so that i can control them and will probably just give them their salaries as a gift.

If you become friends with them, and try to keep their needs up, then they're far less likely to quit. You also have to keep on top of their wages. Make sure that they're always fair. If they gain any badges or skill points then you need to keep checking until it'll tell you what the new fair wage for them is.
