My Apartment Life CD is corrupted, or at least, missing files. I've tried everything (installing with just Basegame, patching all EPs, manually installing, all with no CC, even trying on separate computers) and now I'm pretty certain of it. After the manual installation which I thought would fix it, the problem (see here (http://i.imgur.com/c9NMU.png)) persisted and that made it clear that the files, (it should be icons similar to those that Sims talk about when Sharing Interests etc.) wherever they should be held, are not included on my disc at all. It is a legitimate copy bought brand new about 2 years ago. It didn't work on my old laptop due to that laptop not having a DVD ROM drive, so it went unused for the majority of the time I've had it. During the manual installation I was told if any files were unable to be found due to the disc being damaged, an error message would occur. No such thing happened. So my question is this: would it be possible for me to ask someone else who owns AL to zip up all the data from their disc and send it to me, so I could then install from that? Or would this render me unable to use my serial code/my disc to launch the game, etc.?
I could easily live without those little icons appearing (they showed up in other areas too but patching fixed that) but I am concerned that my last game ended in a BFBVFS because of this lack of files (there may be others besides the icons missing), and I do not want it happening again.
Any replies would be appreciated :)
