No longer showing up

first off, i do not have university, only sims2 original. second, i have searched the forums and read the faqs etc...

the problem? custom content not showing up, downloaded objects in particular (tho some skins as well). now, the stuff that isn't showing up is stuff that has *previously* shown up in the game, has been used to decorate houses and has worked fine. i was decorating a new house today and noticed objects were missing. exited out of the game to check on things and went back into the game. then more objects went missing. not in catalogs at all. went into a house i was playing with last weekend, full of downloaded furniture, now? all the missing custom stuff has been replaced with maxis defaults.

why is this happening and what can i do to fix this?

i have run simPE and scanned folders and found one duplicate guid. removed said object. still missing stuff. found a lot of other objects without guids. is that an issue? if yes, how does one fix it? don't have to worry about ep-enabled since i don't have the ep... ran clean installer... no red files (hacks etc), removed the pink files (empty packages) as per sims1 experience, downloads were read-only. shouldn't be a mesh issue since what is missing has been used before, like in the last few days...

i'm at a loss... :confused:

Have you tried installing the latest version of the CEP? I had the same problem with my recolors but when i installed lastest CEP they came back :blink:

Second, have you downloaded some hack that is messing up your game? It might have been bundled with a recent download so remove the latest downloads and see if it works. The last solution is to save all your current lots and then unistall and reinstall the game and install the latest CEP before putting your downloads back.

I hope one of my tips works for you, im not an expert but i have learned that usually when something goes wrong in the game there is a hack or lack of update that causes it.

yes. i have gone thru that faq and followed it. i tried reinstalling the CEP and still, they are gone.

it's just so weird. the sofa sets, the counters, the bathrooms i used on the weekend are now gone. i still have some custom stuff but most of it has just disappeared! it's not like *all* of it has gone, just most of it. :confused:

part of me thinks it could be guid problem, but that's the sims1 troubleshooting part of me. simPE showed that a lot of custom content had no guid...

and no hacks... i'm too scared to use them. i read here that they show up as red files in Clean Installer...

if nothing else helps, then i guess a reinstall of sims2? :weep:
