Finding the file name to an object?

Is there a way to finding the file name of an object that you are using in a house by clicking on it? I heard there was a cheat of some sort....

I'm not aware of such a cheat with houses... but you can try packaging the house and then opening up the .sims2pack file with Clean Installer and you could try to make out the file names there.
