Uber-Megahood: All Maxis Neighborhoods in One (Megahood + Belladonna Cove)

3 Attachment(s)
What is this for?

Ever wanted to play the Maxis neighborhoods, but couldn't choose just one? Ever wanted sims from Strangetown to meet sims from Pleasantview, but didn't want to move them over in the method that creates a Big Fiery Ball Visible From Space? Loved my Megahood, but wanted Belladonna Cove too? If so, this neighborhood is for you!

This is a new Pleasantview, with six shopping districts: Bluewater Village, Strangetown, Veronaville, Riverblossom Hills, Desiderata Valley, and Belladonna Cove - i.e. Pleasantview with all of the other Maxis neighborhoods attached as shopping districts. If you already have a Pleasantview or already have my Megahood Pleasantview, this will not overwrite or replace your existing Pleasantview(s).

This is basically the same thing as my Megahood, only it has Apartment Life's Belladonna Cove included too.

This is NOT a Megahood Addon!

This is a completely standalone neighborhood and is NOT an addon to the existing Megahood!

It is -not- possible for me to just give you some files you can toss in your Neighborhood folders and use as an addon to the Megahood you've already downloaded and been playing with. I wish I could, but due to the way this is had to be made, I can't!

If it bothers you that it's not an addon:
  • Want to move sims from the existing Megahood into the Uber-Megahood? Do NOT move sims from any existing neighborhoods or the Megahood into the Uber-Megahood unless you do it properly! Moving sims from one neighborhood to another is a Very Bad Thing under most circumstances! If you just must move sims into the Uber-Megahood, do it properly, with these instructions: Game Help - Moving Sims. You will have to wait until SimPE is updated for Apartment Life (or get the QA version) to do so!

  • Want to make Belladonna Cove a part of the existing Megahood yourself? No, you really, REALLY don't. Just trust me on this. This took me about a week to get right and it's a GIANT pain in the ass - more than making the Megahood was originally. If for some reason you still want to do it, you'll need the QA version of SimPE, SaraMK's original tutorial, and my tips. Doing so is difficult, complicated, and a HUGE pain in the ass and I will not be providing help or support on doing so in this thread whatsoever.

Maxis Sims:

I created the Uber-Megahood using the Cleaned Up Templates so you'll have all of the Maxis playables, their memories, relationships, etc.

You will also have all of the sim-bin families from the base game and required EPs (including the ones that were missing with the Megahood) available as well. Simbin sims from Pets, Bon Voyage, University, or Nightlife will not be included as this was not made with any of those EPs - I don't even have them installed!

There may be some additional quirks involved due to the use of those templates (like Pleasantview's Bella Goth - the real one - being alive and well). These quirks are not my doing, and if you have any questions on why certain sims are missing/alive/dead/blonde, please ask on the Cleaned Up Templates Thread at MATY. I have personally done -no- fiddling with any of the sims involved, any of their genetics, relationships, or anything like that... it all comes from those templates, so I won't know the answer if you ask me if someone has something fixed.

No Goopy Gilscarbo, no Meadow Thayer, and no Joe Carr (and similar sims). There are -some- stupidly-named townies, but that's kinda unavoidable.

Expansion Packs Required:

The Uber-Megahood REQUIRES ALL of the following listed EPs!

If you do not have all of the following expansions, you cannot use it! Each expansion changes the way the game data works, thus all of these ARE required - I actually uninstalled the other unneeded EPs so it wouldn't require more (couldn't wait for the AnyGameStarter), but this is the minimum you need to use this!
  • Open for Business (for shopping districts)
  • Seasons (for Riverblossom Hills)
  • Free Time (for Desiderata Valley)
  • Apartment Life (for Belladonna Cove)

If you do not have the required EPs:
  • No Apartment Life? If you do not have Apartment Life but have OfB, Seasons, and Free Time, get my Megahood.

  • Nightlife Only? If you only have the base game and Nightlife, you can get SaraMK's Pleasantview, Strangetown & Veronaville Project which has the two other original 'hoods as downtowns of Pleasantview.

  • Other Combinations: No, I will NOT make any other versions - it is a time consuming and painfully boring process that I do not wish to repeat. If you want some other combination of sub-hoods/expansion packs, then you will have to either follow SaraMK's Tutorial on Combining Maxis Neighborhoods and do it yourself as I did when I couldn't find what I wanted already made!

Known Issues:

None so far. I've done some basic testing and everything seems to be fine. No issues with Gustav's Grocery in this one.

I make no guarantees, so please test this neighborhood for me and let me know if there are any major issues. Use at your own risk. Your mileage may vary. Not to be used for the other use. Remove nutmeats from shell before eating. Caution, contents will be hot after heating. This product not intended for use as a dental drill. Has been found to cause cancer in laboratory mice. Not intended for highway use. Do not insert into anus.

If you have problems while using the Uber-Megahood:

If you have problems, I would appreciate detailed reports so I can fix them. However, I don't want to waste time tracking down issues that are not due to my Uber-Megahood, but other custom content, etc., you may have installed - just because you're having a glitch in my Uber-Megahood does not mean it is a problem with the Uber-Megahood!

I really do appreciate reports, but "Halp it don't work!" or "Stuff is messing up!" will not help me fix anything.

If you are having problems with my Uber-Megahood, please test the problem properly so that you can give me a useful report so I can fix it. This means that you MUST go through each and every step, in order, of The Game Problem FAQ before reporting the issue to me, to make sure it's not a problem on your end!

If you have an issue to report, you MUST state you have gone through each step of the Game Problem FAQ and tried everything there (please list what you tried), as well as a detailed description of the problem - exactly what happened, what you'd been doing before that, etc.... If you do not do this, your report may be ignored till you go through and do as I ask so I can properly identify problems.

If you downloaded the previously-uploaded Uber-Megahood:

I posted a version of the Uber-Megahood on 08 September 2008 - please DELETE that previous version and download the new version. I'm very sorry for the problems as I know this is a big download, but that version was broken.

Installation Instructions:

1. Download: Download the single file 270 mb RAR. Save it somewhere you can find them (like a folder on your desktop). This is 270 mb total - yes, I know it's huge, but that's just the way it is.

2. Extract from RAR: Simply right-click on the "N373.rar" file and choose "Extract Here."[/indent].

3. Move Folder: Cut and paste N373 to your My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Neighborhoods folder. Because it is N373 it should not interfere with any existing neighborhoods - including existing copies of Pleasantview or any other neighborhoods - even the old Megahood.

4. Play: Now you can begin playing with the combined hood. If you already have a Pleasantview, it will be the second Pleasantview listed. If you already have my Megahood and a regular Pleasantview, it will be the third Pleasantview listed. You can play them all separately just fine.

Very Important Information (MUST READ!):

Do NOT under ANY circumstances attempt to attach another shopping district to this neighborhood, EVER!

I have already included a default Bluewater Village shopping district. You may NOT add additional custom shopping districts!

If you attempt to add another shopping district to this neighborhood it will completely ruin the entire neighborhood and the only thing you can do at that point is delete it! There is -no- fix if you accidentally add a new shopping district!

You MAY safely add Downtowns, Universities, and Vacation Destinations but NEVER shopping districts!

It does appear you can -delete- the included shopping districts if there's one you don't want, but I offer no guarantee that this will work without ruining the neighborhood - I tried it briefly and it seems to go fine but I didn't do a deep test. If you -do- decide to delete included shopping districts and you've already played with the Uber-Megahood, make a copy of it first!

Download Links:

Please download the file from the following link: N373.rar

Because it is such a large file (270 MB) I have uploaded it separately instead of to MTS. It should be a quick download and that is a direct link - no registration required.

Recommended Additional Files:
  • To prevent any newly created townies and NPCs from having stupid names, I strongly recommend my Modified NPC and Townie Names mod
  • Get yourself a set of default replacement face templates. Here's some, with links there to more. This will keep newly created townies and NPCs from being Maxis fugly.
  • Pescado's antiredundancy.zip, to prevent unneeded NPCs from spawning.

Thanks to:
  • SaraMK, for her tutorial on this, and for the cleaned-up templates.
  • IAmTheRad, for the Clean Hobbies Template.
  • Whoever uploaded the empty Magic and Weather templates there too - my apologies, my brain is already leaking out my ears so I can't find names to credit on the thread.
  • Quaxi, and everyone who has contributed to the development of SimPE.
  • Delphy, for hugging me and listening to me blubber about how I couldn't get this stupid thing working the first several tries.

DeclanCroft 13th Sep 2008 09:31 PM

cool, thanks

Vie 13th Sep 2008 09:41 PM

Impressive work there HP, going to test it once I've finished downloading it.

I'll let you know if there are any bugs.

timoram26 13th Sep 2008 09:51 PM

Well, thank you !
But, I've noticed some bugs in other languages than English. My game's French, and sorry for my English, I'm not.
Some parts of the Megahood are in English (likes description of families that don't live in Belladonna Cove, names of hoods, names of families) and other parts are in French. I have to modifiy these things in SimPE... but it's juste a fool game.
Can you fix it ? Well, it will be a hard work (there's so many and many languages, uuh... 25 !). But good luck.

SilentDefender 13th Sep 2008 10:01 PM

Thanks, I deeply appreciate your hard work. Especially after reading how hard it was to do it.

HystericalParoxysm 13th Sep 2008 10:11 PM

timoram26 - I don't know other languages (besides a little Dutch), and honestly, I really don't have any interest in messing with that stuff. I also don't even know how that could be affected by what I've done considering the only thing I've really done is stuck everything together - I didn't modify any text lists that would change the names or descriptions at all.

lunahskye 13th Sep 2008 10:21 PM

Oh wonderful! I'd been waiting on this for a while...too lazy to do it myself. Thank you!

katwoman214 13th Sep 2008 10:31 PM

Thank you HP. This is very cool.

SimsPhenix 13th Sep 2008 10:41 PM

Wow! Great job! As far as I know, expansion packs have brought three new 'hoods for a total of 6 if one has all the expansions. Could you make on megahood without Freetime? I don't have it but really want to have all 'hoods. :D

HystericalParoxysm 13th Sep 2008 10:51 PM

SimsPhenix - No, but you're welcome to do a version yourself.

crystyl 13th Sep 2008 11:01 PM

Just want to say a big Thank you as well, and two questions as well. One is when you say no shopping does this include adding a downtown or just bluewater districts? The other is who is better: Picard or Kirk?

HystericalParoxysm 13th Sep 2008 11:11 PM

crystyl - You can add downtowns, universities, or vacation destinations. Just no shopping districts.

In a fistfight, Kirk. For everything else, Picard.

tamorain 13th Sep 2008 11:21 PM

Awesome thank you so much i love your megahood so i know will love this uber one also

TashaFaun 13th Sep 2008 11:31 PM

I wonder how many times you'll have to answer, "Can you do this without...?" lol. This is great HP. Thank you

BellaKaren 13th Sep 2008 11:41 PM

Hey there.
I just wanted to thank you for your absolutely amazing work.
Thank you for your huge efford and time spend on making this for us.
Not only this one, but everything else you have made for us.
I marvel at your brillance and thank the higher powers for you being here.
May the game be just as fun for you as it is for us.
And may life be wonderfull for you, full of smiles and laughter.
Again thank you.
Think you needed that and you deserved it.

Heilena 13th Sep 2008 11:51 PM

So many, at least 20, hugs!

SimJymm 14th Sep 2008 12:01 AM

Hi, thanks! Can you do this without Pleasantview, Strangetown and Veronaville please?
Sorry just kidding I had a lot of fun with your last megahood, but due to a totally FUBAR game I had to do a complete reinstall of everything before installing AL.
I hadn't gotten around to reinstalling your last Megahood. So when I spotted this I had to download it. So, thanks again

terle 14th Sep 2008 12:11 AM

Ooooh! Thank you VERY VERY much!!! I was just debating on if I wanted to try to do this on my own now I dont have to!! *downloads and runs off to play*

Lammashta 14th Sep 2008 12:21 AM

I've been lurking around here and the MATY thread to check out on your progress. Let me say that I am astonished by your dedication and that you found a very smart workaround for the apartment issues. Boolprop is a saviour when you don't have SimPE
I sincerely thank you for this and hope you'll enjoy playing the uberhood as much as I will.

jilly2 14th Sep 2008 12:31 AM

thanks

icy_bliss_magic 14th Sep 2008 12:41 AM

cool, i have a question:

would i be able to put all the sims from belladonna onto a lot (teleporter shrub and tombstone)
then transfer all those sims onto a 'downtown' that was added to the megahood?

or will that make a black hole bigger than CERN?

HystericalParoxysm 14th Sep 2008 12:51 AM

icy_bliss_magic - I would strongly recommend against it. If every sim that all of those sims knows is on the lot (i.e. you check their relationships for ALL of them, and every single sim they know and are related to is on that same lot) then it could work... But that's a could work, not a will work. Moving sims from one neighborhood to another is generally a very bad idea. I think if you really want the BDC sims, best to wait till SimPE is updated (or get the QA version) and just export their appearances.

SNUGGLES 14th Sep 2008 01:01 AM

Thank you so much for this. I really enjoy having all of the different sims from the various hoods be able to interact. :D

xander3000 14th Sep 2008 01:11 AM

OMG it is done!, i will download it! But first a question, in this Uber-hood i have to fix the Gustav's Grocery like the other one Megahood??

Voratre 14th Sep 2008 01:21 AM

I love you.

Frostwyrm 14th Sep 2008 01:31 AM

Thank you so much
I've really been waiting for it- I'm too unsure to do it myself.

Eliskuya in darkness 14th Sep 2008 01:41 AM

geez a new mega Neighborhood for the sims 2? wow. HystericalParoxysm is a Goddess of the sims 2 >=3 good work

Swordsmasterguy 14th Sep 2008 01:51 AM

Finally, I can put in all my Sims Creations in the towns they are originally from instead of writing them that they are from Belladona Cove. You're awesome, and thanks.

Chaavik 14th Sep 2008 02:01 AM

I will take Captain Kathryn Janeway over Kirk and Picard. Kirk vs Janeway: Janeway because she has Seven of Nine to do the fighting for her. Picard vs Janeway: Janeway because she has Seven of Nine to do the diplomatic stuff for her. :D

Thank you, HP, for the time and effort into making this merged 'hood with all of the Maxis neighborhoods. And, if I find anything, I will certainly report back here.

erhama 14th Sep 2008 02:11 AM

Thank you loads, FINALLY I can play with all hoods.

druidessex 14th Sep 2008 02:21 AM

I'm sorry if this seems like a silly question, but if I have all EPs up to AL how will this download affect my game?I just bought a new computer just for gaming and am planning to install all of the released EPs along with some of the Stuff Packs.

I downloaded the first megahood HP did and it worked fine, you even got bella goth, 2 of them to be exact. From memory the maxis made sims tutorial goals (like Goth, Dreamer and Broke families) didnt work properly but i think that was due to expansions rather than this as i got same trouble in the base game neighbourhoods as well.

RoyalHankey 14th Sep 2008 02:41 AM

Thanks alot HP you get top marks again, well done.

Topher 14th Sep 2008 02:51 AM

Awesome project, thanks.

In case you're not aware, you are missing two Maxis families - the Kat and Kim families, which Pets puts into the Lots & Houses Bin. They're super easy to import in, though, so not at all a big deal. ^_^

Oydiegirl 14th Sep 2008 03:01 AM

You did it! Congratulations! And thank you so much (25% of file downloaded). Must. Press. Post. Feeling. Urge. To. Squeel.

Petchy 14th Sep 2008 03:11 AM

Quote:
This file was pretty clearly noted as NOT to be downloaded, so why did you? You really should work on your reading comprehension, you know.

Now, go BACK to the thread and download the right files. And DO make sure you actually read the text of the post this time...

Perfect HP, Brilliant and I Hope it was worth it Love you!

HystericalParoxysm 14th Sep 2008 03:21 AM

xander3000 - Gustav's Grocery is fine in this version. I fixed it myself before uploading.

Chaavik - Psh, Janeway was too soft. Too much of a hippie. Someone in her situation should've blasted her way back to Earth and to hell with any aliens in the way that got hurt.

druidessex - It should work just fine with all EPs. The only reason it requires the particular EPs that it does is because I uninstalled all of my other EPs to make it, so it wouldn't require EPs like University or Pets that aren't really necessary for it.

Topher - No, actually, it's not really missing those. It wasn't made with Pets installed, thus simbin families from other EPs are not going to be included, but if you have Pets (or BV, as that wasn't installed either) then the simbin families should be created when you load the neighborhood for the first time and it goes "Creating Pets" or "Creating Exotic Destinations." No reason to have it require EPs it didn't really need.

sospiri 14th Sep 2008 03:31 AM

Absolutely fantastic! Thank you so much!

nina-x 14th Sep 2008 03:41 AM

*bows* thank you Very Very much!!!!!!

My partner doesn't want me to take up to much space on the pc, therefor I am cutting back on downloading, but with your Uber-hood, I can add more to the downloads and less to the hoods *blows kiss*

Now, where did I saw those cute skins again?

Nina

p.s. Druide, this allows you to delete all the other maxis NBH and clear a lot of hard disk memory space. very usefull if you have a large computer hard disk but can only use so much space on the pc Not needed for download if you only use own-created neighbourhoods and never play the maxis ones.

verenaheu 14th Sep 2008 03:51 AM

I´m so glad you kept your nerves while fiddling with this "pain", your patience and abilities are very highly appreciated. This Uber-Hood is really, really the topping of the downloaders heaven. Thank you so much, HP!

SimsPhenix 14th Sep 2008 04:01 AM

How do you do something like this?

Mollypup 14th Sep 2008 04:11 AM

This is amazing! And you don't know how bad I want to download it. I'm itching to hit the download button. lol But I will freely admit to being a bit dense when it comes to downloading things like this. So I'd like to ask a couple questions first....

1. Since all these neighborhoods are linked together as subhoods and such.......will it makes the game run slow? Or not have any effect? *note* I have way beyond required RAM and such.....mega hard drive, just prefer my game to go at a decent speed. lol (and I do have quite a bit of cc in the game)

2. Is the anitredundancy hack necessary for the npcs if you have all eps up to AL? (not scared of the hack, had it before, but don't want it if I don't need it)

3. And last, if it slows the game or really messes up do to something stupid I probably did, all I have to do to fix it is delete the neighborhood?

4. Oh, and can I delete the existing maxis hoods (except the one my daughter is playing) without it hurting the game? If I have this one, I wouldn't need them anymore.......lol

Now, all that asked.........I want to say a HUGE thank you for such a awesome project as I can only imagine the hard work you put into something like this. :D

mrowcat 14th Sep 2008 04:21 AM

I was hoping you'd do another megahood to include Belladonna Cove. Thanks so much!

HystericalParoxysm 14th Sep 2008 04:31 AM

SimsPhenix - SimPE, and a lot of pulling out my hair.

Mollypup - I don't mind questions.

1. It shouldn't cause any additional slowness. You only have one neighborhood (or shopping district) viewable at a time so the neighborhood screen runs the same, and not all the sims are going to be on your lots at once, so it should run basically the same as any normal neighborhood. Apartment Life does have significantly reduced performance from previous EPs, but that's just AL, not the Uber-Megahood. This -does- however have a lot of character files - 971 I think is the total, so you may not want to absolutely pack it with new sims as an overcrowded neighborhood can eventually cause problems, but you'd be in the several-thousand range before that happened.
2. It's not absolutely necessary, but it will prevent the game from generating more NPCs than you need, which is probably a good thing. Apartment Life tends to generate a lot of NPCs for the social groups and stuff, so I'd really recommend it, especially considering that the Uber-Megahood does come with a lot of characters to begin with.
3. Yep, if you ever decide you don't want it, just delete the N373 folder from your Neighborhoods folder and it'll be completely gone.
4. Yes, you can delete any unwanted Maxis neighborhoods. Just double-check that you're not deleting the one your daughter plays.

DaveCapple 14th Sep 2008 04:41 AM

This is awesome. I'll admit, the Megahood was one of the very first things I checked up one when I got AL. I've been holding off playing the game much until this came out.
As Topher said, I noticed that those 2 families didn't load. Just as a note, I don't care as I make my own families anyway. If I play any.
As another side note, I noticed that some of the neighborhoods have mixed up stories, ie. Pleasantview doesn't have one, Strangetown has the Bluewater Village one, and Bluewater has the Beladona Cove. But this only happens after the load, they appear fine when just looking at them. Again, I don't care, because I find the stories annoying, but just so you know.
And Chaavik, Janeway ftw.

HystericalParoxysm 14th Sep 2008 04:51 AM

DaveCapple - Those families are only created when the game does its "Creating Pets" thing for the stealth neighborhoods. Same with the families that come with Bon Voyage being created with the "Creating Exotic Destinations" part. As this was created without those EPs, those families cannot be included but should be added when you load it the first time if you do not have clean templates installed for those stealth 'hoods.

I hadn't noticed any weirdness with the stories but I'll admit I just click past them without looking anyway.

DaveCapple 14th Sep 2008 05:01 AM

My bad, I guess I should have said that I did run it through those steps. All EPs installed and associated. Like I said, not a big deal, just saying.

Yeah, I wish there was an easy way to make the stories just not show up, they're so annoying.

costruire 14th Sep 2008 05:11 AM

It's fantastic of you to do things like this when it's such a pain in the rear. Thank you so much!

SimJymm 14th Sep 2008 05:21 AM

The Kim family and Kat with her cats are in their own special homes. So if you look were the lots are and use the filter 'occupied lots' you'll see them, if you have pets installed.

tamorain 14th Sep 2008 05:31 AM

they dont show in mine either . my occupied lots is empty.

Princesskitty 14th Sep 2008 05:41 AM

Thank you so much for the Uber Megahood! You rock!

mishmish0759 14th Sep 2008 05:51 AM

Thanks for this...just curious though..why no Meadow Thayer? I always liked her.

tanginan 14th Sep 2008 06:01 AM

thankyou very much! i play your megahood only now, and didn't know how to keep the relationships when adding the new hood! am delighted, God bless!

HystericalParoxysm 14th Sep 2008 06:11 AM

tamorain - As I've said before, sims from EPs that this does not require (and that I did not have installed when I made this) will not be included. There's nothing I can do about that.

mishmish0759 - It was kind of an all or nothing when it came to those townies. And I really dislike Joe Carr and his hatred of my trash can, so they all got left out.

Mollypup 14th Sep 2008 06:21 AM

HP

Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions. I bow to your genius. And am scurrying off to download. rofl

PS For those wanting the families left out because HP didn't have the eps.......you can go to the BBS under the Sims section and request them. Someone will direct you to the link as there are some available there for download. That's how I come to have them and the Burbs permanently saved in a special file on my computer. My game doesn't generate them for a new hood. Don't know why, it's always been that way.

debwilldo 14th Sep 2008 06:31 AM

HP-You never cease to amaze me with your brilliance, and your generosity in sharing your mega"skillz" cannot be expressed with a simple hit of the "thanks" button.
I am one grateful fan, and once we get those "corporalists" out of office, perhaps I'll be able to keep enough money in my wallet to make a much deserved donation. Thanks for all that you do!!

bspearman37 14th Sep 2008 06:41 AM

HP, thank you so very much for this. I love the megahood and was hoping that you would do it again with AL! You're awesome, thank you so much for your hard work and sharing!!!!!

fnlemon 14th Sep 2008 06:51 AM

Thanks bunches for this. I have been waiting for this, I downloaded your other Magahood but this is better. You have put so much time and effort into making this you are awesome. Thanks again. Now I will run off to play.

Bubbleberri 14th Sep 2008 07:01 AM

1 000,000 x million's of thankyou's for this neighbourhood.
I loved your Megahood and I just know I will love this version all the more.

Alma70 14th Sep 2008 07:11 AM

Thank you so much for this megahood!!! =)
I must admit that I was hoping you would do one when I downloaded your first version and AL was in the making...=D

Edit: Forgot a word!!!

An_na 14th Sep 2008 07:21 AM

I've been waiting for this too. I loved your megahood (which was something I had wanted for a long time but wasn't patient enough to try and do it myself), so this is even more awesome. Thankies, HP!

Mollypup 14th Sep 2008 07:31 AM

Ok. I've noticed something........not sure if it would be a real issue or not as I'm haven't come across lasting effects........But my couples, as I start playing each family, start off getting furious with each other? Not hard to turn around. But I thought sort of a strange side effect of combining the hoods. lol

xander3000 14th Sep 2008 07:41 AM

I have already downloaded the uber-hood, and worked fine, Thank you you are the best!

deann000 14th Sep 2008 07:51 AM

Thank you for going to so much effort to get this working and post it. I really liked the Megahood, and am looking forwards to playing this one, too.

fnlemon 14th Sep 2008 08:01 AM

Not sure if this is a problem with the uber-hood or problems with AL but my sim family has a teen and every morning instead of a school bus coming at 8am like normal, I have to make her walk to school, but in the afternoon at 1pm the school bus drops her off as usual. This is the only abnormal occurrence that has happened thus far, otherwise the uber-hood is working just fine and I love it. Thanks again!

HystericalParoxysm 14th Sep 2008 08:11 AM

Mollypup - Not an Uber-Megahood problem. Please do as I said in the first post.

fnlemon - Not a problem with this either. AL has issues with the school bus being glitchy.

xienta84 14th Sep 2008 08:21 AM

HP, This is cool. I am going to try it out. I have all EP

I like Picard better then Kirk because he does not fall in love with girl as much as Kirk did, also out of the 5 star treks, Voyager is better because it has a female Captain

carrie640 14th Sep 2008 08:31 AM

Does this mean anything? Thought I would ask before I installed

Thanks for all your contributions! I REALLY dug the MODESTY clothes!

carrie640 - Sounds like the file didn't download properly. Delete the file(s) you have and download it again.

cupcake. 14th Sep 2008 09:21 AM

why can't i add a shopping district?

lydcat98101 14th Sep 2008 09:31 AM

YOU ARE A ROCK STAR BABY!!!!!!!!!
TV Kirk or Movie Kirk?

HystericalParoxysm 14th Sep 2008 09:41 AM

cupcake. - Because it will completely ruin, break, asplode, and utterly borkify the neighborhood if you do. The way this has to be done for the shopping districts to be attached is not done the normal way of just sticking them on in-game, thus attempting to add others in the normal way of just sticking them on in-game will, in short, completely fuck it up.

Eva Aisling 14th Sep 2008 09:51 AM

MUCH faster to download from your server. (7 minutes)
Thanks a ton for that!

Hollister425 14th Sep 2008 10:01 AM

alfieboots 14th Sep 2008 10:11 AM

ooh *sqee* me loves it tested with all ep's and stuff packs and works fine

Atom_Bunny 14th Sep 2008 10:21 AM

I do love the megahood. It's been great fun to play.

I do have a question about the names of the townies though as I've noticed that some of them have changed names. For example, in both versions of the Megahood's Strangetown, Crystal Vu has become Tammy Gergis.

I took out the whole Sims2 folder and let it regenerate a new one just to check, and in a vanilla game, Crystal Vu is still called Crystal Vu.

I can live with it, I'm just curious really.

HystericalParoxysm 14th Sep 2008 10:31 AM

Atom_Bunny - Townies and prebuilt NPCs may be renamed in attached neighborhoods. That's just kinda the way it works - nothing I could do about that besides go back and manually fix each and every name, which really, really wasn't going to happen.

Atom_Bunny 14th Sep 2008 10:41 AM

OK, that's fair enough. The ones that really bother me will have their first names changed with InSim and I'll leave the rest be.

That little inconvenience is nothing next to the awesomeness that is the Uber-mega-hood. ^_^

xhyleh 14th Sep 2008 10:51 AM

You're the best, seriously...thanks!

Nickieboy2004 14th Sep 2008 11:01 AM

Ooopppps.....
Posted my appreciation under the old download page....
I love this mod, and had been hoping to see Belladonna Cove incorporated into the MegaHood! Thank you for this!

princ3ssali 14th Sep 2008 11:11 AM

I can't tell you how much I appreciate this download. This is amazing. I have one question. I've read through all the posts and (even though I'm blind sometimes) didn't see this question asked. So, here goes.

I know in the last merged hood that I DL'd you could move your Sims from one subhood to the main NHood (from Stragetown to Pleaseantview) without complications by moving the Sims into the Sim Bin and then moving the house into the housing bin, moving them to the main Hood and placing everything back in its place. Is that still the case?

HystericalParoxysm 14th Sep 2008 11:21 AM

princ3ssali - That's still fine to do here since everyone stays in the same neighborhood (they're just moving from suburbs to the main 'hood) and you're never putting an inhabited lot in the lot bin.

princ3ssali 14th Sep 2008 11:31 AM

Awesome, thanks so much for the quick response. I'm off to install this now before the husband gets home and kicks me off the comp to check Craigslist.

Fantil 14th Sep 2008 11:41 AM

Thank you! Wow I guess my conection is so good its only gonna take me 5min to download lol.

sunhair 14th Sep 2008 11:51 AM

thank you so much for this
it took me less then 2 minutes to download from your server

pentabet 14th Sep 2008 12:01 PM

Alright, let's say I want the UberMegaHood, but minus one or two sims. May I toss them in the Simbin and delete them, or do I have to kill them off? I can do it with new-made sims, but memory-laden sims-- will their deletion create Very Bad Things?

For this post you answered that this wouldn't be a good idea. So...I had a question. Does this mean that I can't take a family from Belladonna Cove, move them out the normal way, and get them a new place downtown or in Pleasantview? Just wanted to make sure I understood that. Thank you.

Also, thanks for all the hard work you put into this!

HystericalParoxysm 14th Sep 2008 12:21 PM

bloodstained_black_lace - As long as you are not moving an inhabited lot, but are moving the families separate from their lots, and as long as you are not moving them into or out of the Megahood into another neighborhood, it's fine. You can move from sub-hood to sub-hood within the Megahood, but not from the regular Pleasantview to the Megahood's Belladonna... and never with their house, only in the sim bin.

bloodstained_black_lace 14th Sep 2008 12:31 PM

Okay! Thank you very much! Now I'm off to download and install!

Again, thank you for all the hard work!

Amysmom 14th Sep 2008 12:41 PM

I've read through all these posts and I don't see anyone else that has an issue with the Aspir family not loading. Try to load the lot to play them and it tries, then crashes with that "Exception code: 0xC0000005" thing in the log. Game loads, other lots play fine, but load the Aspirs and boom.
Anyone else have this happen or am I just lucky??

Update:
I have tried move the family out: crash
I tried to move the lot to the housing bin, thinking to move them back in or to maybe package them from a fresh Desiderata and install a new Aspir family: you can't until you enter the lot....I can't enter the lot.
I tried going to the Bell's and having Hannah call Elizabeth and inviting the household over: crash.
Next I tried inviting them over one at a time and asking them to move in: Victor, then Elizabeth and Pauline, fine. Luis: Crash.

So I went to my daughter's single, regular Desiderata hood that I remember playing once or twice when I just got FT, and the Aspir family loaded fine back then. She doesn't play them and this is a fresh hood, so they were new. Hers crashes, too, so it's NOT the mega-hood. Did something happen to Luis Aspir with AL??

jeremyconstantine 14th Sep 2008 12:51 PM

Amazing work, and had it not been for the fact you can't add shopping districts without creating a crater the size of New York, you would have my download pronto (I like to add shopping districts of my own).

Either way, I can appreciate all the hard work you put into this amazing piece of sim downloadery, and just because of that I will thank you for it. Total utter awesome.

(although, I might just download it and see what happens when you do add more sub-hoods. I like explosions)

maiamorgan 14th Sep 2008 01:01 PM

This is awesome! I was going to wait until I got a new pc, but I just couldn't wait anymore! Can't wait to play this hood, it will make things much easier. Thank you so much! I'm sure making this was much harder than anyone can imagine.

You are made of much awesome, and only Picard is above you on the awesomeness scale!

kentuckyfriedsims 14th Sep 2008 01:11 PM

Thank you!

Thank You Soooo Much! I downloaded the first one which was great, but then because of a unrelated problem I was having with my game I had to Uninstall my game, , and lost it, among other things, and so I decided to come here to get it again, and to my surprise you had updated it to include Belladonna Cove, which is just wonderful, you see my favorite " Hood's" are Pleasantville and Strangetown, and now Belladonna Cove too, and I have all ways wanted to have the Goths and the Smith family know each other, never thought that I would be able to, but you have now made my dream come true, plus I get to play two different versions of my favorite families and Hoods too, you are a true master here, Thank you Again!

simkiyotea 14th Sep 2008 01:21 PM

I hope this doesnt crash my computer! (Well, it probably won't, because i have a pretty strong one) Thanks!

SuZyODD 14th Sep 2008 01:31 PM

I found out about your neighborhood over at MATY and am really glad I tried it. I just love playing the merged hood! You've done a great job and I like using the shopping district much better than the original using the downtown area. It makes more sense. I have already added a custom downtown hood and it's working fine, the entire game is working great, thank you very much for all your hard work on this mod!

jet2r0cks 14th Sep 2008 01:41 PM

Hello! First of all, thanks for this and all your wonderful creations (I think I have everything you created ^_^'). Before downloading this I just wanted to ask a few questions.

I didn't have Seasons (until today) so I was sad that I couldn't download this, and the tutorial on how to make a similar neighborhood was totally daunting for me, so I made my own shopping district that resembled strangetown. I moved one family from the original strangetown (the one with the alien), to the shopping district I created. I also took some families from the bin and moved them into houses in said shopping district (I also took some families from the bin and moved them into houses in Bluewater and Downtown). Furthermore, I took some community lots from Belladonna Cove (the gym, museum, coffee shop, library, etc ), Desiderata Valley (The cook-off place and the sports park), and Strangetown (all community lots) and moved them to my new shopping district. I also did this for my neighborhood's downtown and original shopping district (bluewater village), and I took some community lots (Including ones that are occupied, such as the Kim and Kat family) from the bin as well.

Now here are my questions:
1. Do I have to delete the shopping district I created? You said not to attach more shopping districts, but I'm assuming that's after using the uber-megahood so I just want to make sure.
2. What will happen to the sims who lived in the shopping district if I delete it?
3. Since I moved some community lots from their original neighborhood to the one I'm using (Pleasantview), will the uber-megahood be affected (or vice-versa)?
4. If there's a problem, and I delete the uber-megahood, will such action affect my game?

Thanks in advance!

HystericalParoxysm 14th Sep 2008 01:51 PM

jet2r0cks - Well, it sounds like you're not using this, so your shopping district being added has nothing to do with the shopping districts for the Uber-Megahood. You can have other shopping districts in -other- neighborhoods, just not in the Pleasantview + everything else that is this download. You play whatever other neighborhoods however you like - the whole "don't create more shopping districts" is ONLY for this.

However, moving sims from Strangetown into another neighborhood is a Very Bad Idea and unless you did it right, you've messed up the neighborhood you moved them into, so you should probably just delete that whole neighborhood entirely.
