No Weather On Any Lot

3 Attachment(s)
If you love Seasons but you hate weather, this global mod will give you the best of both. You will no longer experience rain, hail, snow, or lightning on any lot: residential or community. The entire weather system is turned off; this does not just turn off the weather effects.

Note that the seasons still occur: You will still have temperature changes. Your ponds will still freeze. Your trees will still drop their leaves. You will still have special priorities for each season. Your sims will still want to see various types of weather.

Compatibility:

This mod requires Seasons and is compatible with EPs from Seasons to Mansion and Garden.

Warning:
Please read this thread before asking any questions. If the question has already been answered, please don't ask again.

How to Help:

If anyone knows of a good mod to stop sims from wanting to see particular types of weather, I'd appreciate a link. I'm also happy to add links to any other related downloads that people know about.

Conflicts:

I am not aware of any conflicts with this mod. If you find any, please report them to me so that I can start a list.

Additional Credits:

I got the inspiration for this mod from the Seasons and Weather Controller. My mod should not conflict with that mod.

I could check your mod to get the answer, but you said you got your inspiration from the weather control from simwardrobe. I know that the weather control works at lot basis. Is your mod a complement or a replacement? What is it really stopping? The weather? The weather effects? or the sims reactions to the weather? Or all of them? You say that you will still have all the weather and its priorities, so I think the explanations are not enough. Thanks.

This will be perfect for my sci-fi neighborhood. No more snow and rain in space! Thanks!

love it love it love it finally no more green vase everywhere to just stop the weather

simmer22 16th Aug 2011 4:16 PM

This is so useful! I mostly do photoshoots, and it's a pain to have to use the weather adjuster every single time I move someone to a lot. Plus, it takes up space...

Thanks a bunch!

NixNivis 16th Aug 2011 4:58 PM

I love you for this!! I use SimWardrobe's Weather Controller everywhere, but it bugs me that I always to have to turn the weather off every time I visit a community lot anew (especially since I never remember it before it starts raining/hailing/snowing), or when I move someone in like simmer22 said. So thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!

Babahara 16th Aug 2011 6:12 PM

Thanks a lot for this mod. It's fantastic

iCad 16th Aug 2011 7:28 PM

Y'know, I was just getting to the point where I was getting sick of the weather effects. (Especially when on vacation. Nothing ruins a good beach vacation more than having it rain EVERY SINGLE DAY! I know it's "realistic," but...jeez.) So, I was looking at the weather controller thingy...but it seemed to labor-intensive for lazy me. And then of course the Magical Mootilda comes along and fixes everything.

I don't know that I'll always want to use this because I do generally like the weather, but sometimes....

DigitalSympathies 16th Aug 2011 11:40 PM

I use the SimWardrobe one because I make machinima but if I ever play Strangetown this will come in handy Thank you! :D

THANK YOU! I've been looking for something like this for a while now.

I'm not trying to spoil your post, Mootilda, I'm intending to use it and I have a so modded game that I cannot try everything without knowing what is going to be affected. You highlighted only what you considered offending but I asked very normal questions. I opened your mod and saw self what is it about in terms of parameters. My questions were reasoned on the fact that changing mods on a played game can cause much more troubles than many can imagine. Seasons is an EP that is very far from easy, it affects everything including new meshes. I'm in very serious trouble because I create Props that are affected by snow and is turning my hair grey to find a feasible solution. Your mod could be an answer or a much deeper problem. That's why I post feedbacks. Sorry, I'm not emotional and I do not understand such misunderstandings. I was just looking if someone else could possibly have found better solutions than I did.

I loved the idea, but it didn't work for me. I moved in a new family and there was still hail and snow. Also, all of my posters turned black. The posters were fine after I removed the mod.

I wasn't offended by anything that you said. I quoted what I was trying to answer, in my modifications to the original post. Sorry if I seemed too abrupt. I honestly tried to answer your questions to the best of my ability.

If you are concerned about hack conflicts, your best strategy may be to backup your entire save game before adding any new mod. That way, if you find any problems, you can back out easily. I'd appreciate you reporting any conflicts that you find.

I'll need more information before I can figure out what's happening.

Do you have a lot of other CC? Have you tried with no CC except my mod? Have you tried running the Hack Conflict Detection Utility (HCDU) to find any mod conflicts? The HCDU can be found at http://simwardrobe.com/ under Sims 2 Programs.

If you find mod conflicts, I would be happy to include those conflicts in the original post.

If the problem with the posters still occurs with no CC except my mod, I'd appreciate it if you could give me the names of some of those posters, so that I can take a look to see whether I can find the problem.

I can't wait to try this mod!
I like Seasons but I hate the weather...
I turn off the snow because we don't have snow down here and it makes my computer too slow, acctually I have no winter in most of my nhoods.
But the rain is painfull, it rains too much! It's always raining! It's nonsense!

I use "SW-NoReactingToRainOrSnow" "no-hazardous-rain-Mog-20100615" and "NoFallingLeavesInFall". I don't get much of the wants related to weather... Maybe because of the "noreaction" mod... or maybe because of the type of the simmies' aspirations, knowledge sims tend to be more curious about things...

Anyway, thank you VERY much for this wonderful mod!

Good one Mootilda. I currently have one desert neighbourhood going and I will absolutely use this mod when I play that one. It doesnt make any sense that we should get plenty of rain in a desert now does it.?
Otherwise Im not bothered by the weather, so this will be a travelling download in my game

Hi Mootilda,

This works great! I initially had my seasons all set to spring time, and it did continue to rain and lightning. I set the seasons back to one each and at first I had one snowfall at the end of fall, but they now seem to be cooperating with your mod. In other words, it seems it took a little time for it to establish itself, but that could have been my fault for setting the seasons to all the same kind. I love it and a big THANK YOU!!!

Unfortunately, I have to report that this isn't working in my game. At first it was (or at least I thought it was since I wasn't getting any weather, but that might just have been me not paying attention to which season it was), but now I'm suddenly getting weather again - rain and snow, anyway, I haven't seen any hail yet.

I've run the HCDU and it doesn't report any conflicts with this mod (I only have 14 conflicts; two of them are modular stairs and the others are InTeen conflicting with itself). I also took all CC but your mod out of my Downloads folder, but I'm still getting weather.

I have all EPs and H&M, TS, K&B, Ikea and M&G installed, and I haven't changed any settings anywhere between getting no weather and starting to weather again. Please let me know if there's anything else you want me to do/check - I'm at a loss.

Mootilda 21st Aug 2011 11:13 PM

I know that it can take a while for the mod to take effect, but I've never seen the weather start up again once it has stopped. I run this mod all the time with all EPs and SPs except the Store Edition, so our configurations are very similar.

I'll try setting up your exact configuration and see whether I can reproduce your problem.

NixNivis 21st Aug 2011 11:24 PM

I think I know what's going on! It seems I only get weather on the first day of a new season; on day 2, the weather disappears. (In this case, it was snow - a lot of snow - that was there on day 1 of winter but became green grass on day 2.) So it seems that it does indeed work for me, only it resets when a new season rolls around and needs to start over (which is probably why I get a day with weather, if it can take a little while before it takes effect as you say). I can live with that.

Is there a way to make these limited to residential or community lot only? I don't mind weather at home, but it seems every time my sims go to a community lot there are thunderstorms. Usually it's because of the evil witch but there are many times when it's just spontaneous weather. It's gotten to the point that I want to remove seasons from my game.

The whole point of this mod is that it is a global mod and affects all lots without any user intervention. There are other mods which will allow you to affect the weather on a per-lot basis.

At this time, I don't know how much work it would be to restrict the mod by lot type. I'll have to research what would need to be done to affect all lots except residential lots.

I've done enough research on this to decide that it's a major change: basically a complete rewrite. Because of this, I'm not going to work on it further. Sorry. You might still prefer to use an existing mod over uninstalling Seasons.

TOMTOM123Han 4th Nov 2011 10:09 PM

i like this but i am happy to have the weather , its more fun with rain hail , snow sun , and what ever lol :D

lstickland 27th Nov 2011 11:03 PM

Thank you for this. Hope this works for me! If it doesn't I'll let you know what the issues are, along with full details about my installed items & my laptop configuration. I think it was just this morning I was whining, "I wish I could turn off this stupid rain!!", and I probably make that complaint every single time it rains or snows. I don't know why EA didn't make this player-controlled in the first place, (other than the snow on ground option that I always have turned off).
