Description

The Sims 4 Mod Manager is a program designed to make management of mods easier.

Features

• Drag and drop (supports more than one drop)
• Auto-installs mods from their archives (Zip, RAR, or 7Zip). See "Adding Mods" below.
• Does not make use of the Resource.cfg – Mods are backed up to a folder, and are copied to the “Mods” folder when enabled.
• Enable multiple mods at once
• Disable multiple mods at once
• Shows mod type – “Package” if it is a “.package” file, and “Script” if it is a “.zip” file. Also shows icons for both types.
• Supports sub-folder categorization (only supports 1 level)

Tutorial

Thanks again to Apanda!

Adding Mods

With previous versions, installing package mods required you to first extract the ".package" files somewhere, and then add them with the manager.
In the current version of TS4MM, that step is removed. If the package mod or mods that you have downloaded are contained in a ".zip", ".rar", or ".7z" archive, you can simply drag them in to the manager, or add them with the button, and the manager will automatically extract any ".package" files in the archive into your Mods folder.

You do not have to worry about whether or not the mod you download is a script mod. The manager will discern the difference by looking at the contents of the archive, and if it is a script mod, it will copy it to your Mods folder.

Hotkeys

Applies only to the mod manager tab.
KeyAction
Ctrl + AAdd mod(s)
DeleteRemove selected mod(s)
Ctrl + RRefresh mod list
Ctrl + EEnable selected mod(s)
Ctrl + DDisable selected mod(s)
Ctrl + Shift + RRename mod
Ctrl + Shift + ASelect all mods

Unzip and extract anywhere, then double-click "TS4MM_<version>-Setup.exe" and follow the steps for installation. After it's installed, simply double-click the icon on your desktop named "TS4 Mod Manager".

Requires .NET Framework 4 or higher.

Bug Workaround

First workaround found by marvinpunz:
  1. Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete
  2. Choose Task Manager
  3. Right-click on The Sims 4 Mod Manager
  4. Click Expand
  5. Right-click the newly expanded item
  6. Click Bring to front
  7. Click Maximize

Second workaround found by sim508:
  1. Make sure The Sims 4 Mod Manager is closed
  2. Go to %USERPROFILE%\Documents\TS4 Mod Manager
  3. Open the file config.ini
  4. Change location to match the following:
    Code:
    [window]
    location = 0, 0
  5. Save and try opening The Sims 4 Mod Manager again

Third workaround found by rpastorcale:
  1. Hover over the icon for The Sims 4 Mod Manager
  2. Wait for the preview to show
  3. Right-click on the preview and click Maximize

To prevent this bug

The best way to prevent this bug from happening is to not close TS4MM while it is minimized.
This bug happens because I made it so that the location of the window on your screen would be saved to a configuration file, so that when you open TS4MM again, it would be in the same place you last opened it.
What I should have done in the first place, is make it so that it would not save it's location while minimized.
I apologize for my mistake. This will be fixed in the next update.

I'm not sure if this was asked, but is it possible to add a feature to check which script or mod is causing conflicts or is incompatible with TS4? It would be great for people using many types of mods

I've been working on this, and a few other things. So to answer your question: Yes.

I'm not sure if this was already asked, but I'm playing Sims 4 through origin, and that means that Sims 4 is located in the origin games folder, not the electronic arts folder. I can't get the mod manager to select that folder, is there any way to make the manager work?

I also play The Sims 4 through Origin, and it is true that the game is located in the "Origin Games" folder (unless the user changes it). It's good to hear that you can't get the mod manager to select that folder, because it is not supposed to be able to, so that means it is working just fine.

Mods are not installed in to the install directory for the game itself. Mods are installed in to a folder in the PC user's "Documents" or "My Documents" directory, which would contain an "Electronic Arts" folder, along with "The Sims 4" folder, and inside that, a "Mods" folder, all granted you have the The Sims 4 installed and have at least started it up once. An example of this directory's location would be "C:\Users\<User's Name>\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4".

Thanks! I haven't started it up yet since my computer was fixed and I had to reinstall it. I'll do it now

Default Please help!
How do you automatically install a mod with a zip file and a package file inside it? I'm trying to install the Pregnancy Mega Mod and it's so confusing.

You can either:

- Click the "+" button in the mod manager tab, and select the zip file and choose the group you want to add it to.
- Drag the zip file in to the mod list in the mod manager tab and choose the group you want to add it to.

You could attempt to run this with WineHQ on your Mac.
I do not own a Mac, nor does anyone I know, so I can't test it.

If you put multiple subfolders inside a folder with files in them would that still work? If so, is there a way to make a main category and then subcategories? There are literally
so many mods/cc's, I really need to be more organized xD

Could you please give us the option of moving the files around via, dragging and dropping?
For example I like to keep certain types of CC grouped, such as
Teen : [ Dress]
Child: [Skirt]

In my list it goes from
Teen : [ Dress]
Teen : [ Dress]
Child: [Skirt]
Teen : [ Dress]
Child: [Skirt]

Excuse my OCD but I would really appreciate this xD

Close the manager if it is open, go to "C:\Users\<User>\Documents\TS4 Mod Manager" and open the file named "config.ini" in Notepad. Remove the line "location", save and exit, then start the mod manager again.

It should start at the center of your screen. Refrain from closing the manager while it is minimized, as it is what usually causes this problem.

Could you please give us the option to enabling/disabling an entire category? It's very tedious
to click/unclick every single CC/mod. It gets frustrating when you're an avid CC downloaded xD

You can click the category's name and it will select all of the mods under it. You can then click the button with the check mark to enable them, or the button with the cancel symbol to disable them.

Hi, thanks for this!

When I start up the mod manager, it is down in the taskbar, but when I click on it to open it up, it doesn't open. Can you somehow fix this, or is it a problem with my computer?

I've dealt with this problem many times before,

CTRL+ALT+DELETE
Task Manager
Right click The Sims 4 Mod Manager
Expand (When you click Expand it drops down another)
Right Click on the second one
Bring to Front
Maximize

Hi, thanks for this amazing manager.
I was wondering if the possibility to have subfolders (like a folder BuildMode with inside other folders such as Bathroom, Bedroom etc.) was going to be in a futur update of a new version or something ? It would be really an awesome feature to be able to categorize a bit more all the CC I've got
Thanks again for everything.

With the way the mods are displayed, there's no way I can represent a group being within a group. (Group being a folder)
So, even if I did support multi-level folders, it would look the same as it does now, and there would ultimately be no difference visually.
