Picked Upload! This is a picked upload! It showcases some of the best talent and creativity available on MTS and in the community.
File update 29 Dec 2017:
Mod installation causes less to no weirdness, if sims were saved interacting with a bed the moment this mod was installed. Also, compressed files.
No immediate need to re-download (unless you decided to re-install for some reason).
New 26 Nov 2017:
Tutorial: Making object hideable or unhideable by editing its category in SimPE

I've always liked decorative bed blankets and pillows, but almost never used them. Clipping through sims would bug me, and no way I would remove those decorations by hand every time sims go to bed.

Today I offer you a mod, that automatically hides any decor located on a bed when a sim goes to sleep or (optionally) to relax in that bed.

Choose only one version of the mod.
Don't use, if your latest expansion or stuff pack is lower than Seasons.
M&G is not really required, but I'm on Ultimate Collection. If you're not, test in testing 'hood first to see if it works. And do back-up your data.
Conflicts with other mods:
- All versions except minimal conflict with ijUseInaccessibleBeds. If you want to keep it, use bed-unmade-minimal.
- The mod will conflict with any other mods that overwrite the same BHAVs as listed below (differ for each version).

Details:
- Mod only hides/unhides decor that occupies the same tiles that the bed - intersects it, basically. See pics for examples.
- When sims make the bed, the decor returns back. In case of double beds both sides need to be made for decor to appear.
- Hammocks are not supported.
- First load after installation: If your sims were saved while using a bed at the very moment you installed this mod, there may be weirdness in animation. You see, you've changed the function in the middle of it running, so the game is confused. Don't worry, it's one time glitch. If a pixel is trapped in the bed, use moveobjects cheat or force error on it. If a bed gets funny look, sell it and buy a copy.
- If the bed is removed while decorations are hidden, they will not go anywhere and stay in place being invisible. You can unmake and make new bed to unhide them, or delete hidden objects with yellow cube thingy (stuck object remover).

Regarding decor:
- Technically, the mod hides objects categorized as "garden sculptures". If a blanket/pillow is cloned from maxis decor item, chances are it will be categorized as such. Not to be confused with buy mode section! It doesn't matter where the item is found in buy mode.
- I tried random Jonesi Bed Blanket, Impi Bed Blanket, Impi Bed Pillows and they work. But you are not limited to those items.
- If you have an item that doesn't hide, you can make it work by editing its "Init" function to add category = Const 0x016C:0x30. Or if so happens that the mod hides something it's not supposed to, you can fix it too by changing object's internal category to something else. If you don't know how to do this, ask me or any object creator who is willing to help.

Versions:

bed-unmade
- Hides decor when sims go to sleep and relax.
- If you have Apartment Life, use bed-unmade-AL instead.

bed-unmade-norelax
- Hides decor when sims go to sleep, but not relax. In case you'd like sims to relax/cuddle/woohoo with extra decor.
- When sims fall asleep after woohoo, decor will magically dissappear.
- If you have Apartment Life, use bed-unmade-norelax-AL instead.

bed-unmade-AL
- Hides decor when sims go to sleep and relax.
- Apartment Murphy Bed included: hide decor when sims close it and unhide it after they open it.

bed-unmade-norelax-AL
- Hides decor when sims go to sleep, but not relax. In case you'd like sims to relax/cuddle/woohoo with extra decor.
- When sims fall asleep after woohoo, decor will magically dissappear.
- Apartment Murphy Bed included: hide decor when sims close it and unhide it after they open it.

bed-unmade-minimal
- The least aesthetically pleasing version, but has only one tiny-teeny bhav. Choose it only in case you encounter conflicts with other mods or some other problems.
- Hides decor after sims go to sleep.
- When sims fall asleep after woohoo - decor stays.

I'm excited to try this! I've never used bed deco for the very reasons you named - no way would I want to take the deco off every time a sim went to bed. Thank you so much!

Well, this looks totally interesting, and by that I mean, awesome. I love decorating beds, but too am always bothered by sims clipping through the items. So, thank you for this!

This mod looks awesome. I use a lot of custom bedding in TS4, but hate it when my sims disappear into it when they go to sleep or lay on their beds. Would you consider making a TS4 version of this mod?

Default Hot fix is hot
Replaced "norelax" versions. Sorry guys, was the wrong file. I suck.
If your pets can't get on a bed, replace the file. If you don't own pets, I guess, it won't matter to you.

@sammyhulton, pillow's shape makes no difference, if that's what you're asking. Items on pictures are only examples of decorations that can be used.
If you're asking because you tried it in game and it doesn't hide, the most likely cause is how the pillow was made. If you point me to where I can get the pillow, I may be able to edit it for you.

Thanks a lot for this!

Can anyone tell me where to find the "Impi" stuff, particularly the pillows? It seems most of the Jonesi-slaved bed pillows I've picked up along the way don't want to hide with this mod, but google is not helping me find "impi bed pillows". Thanks!

@gwynne, I think I've got it from here: https://mustluvcatz-reloaded.tumblr...-blanket-meshes

I'm sorry about the other pillows. They can be altered to work, though.

Default Tutorial: Making object hideable or unhideable by editing its category in SimPE
You have a pillow or a blanket that doesn't hide with the mod? I'll show you how to edit it so it hides.
On the contrary, you want to make some object stay put instead or hiding? I'll show how to do that as well.

Do this only with purely decorative objects.
Make backups of your files before you change them, in case you need to start fresh.

Every object has Init function. What you're going to do is edit that function to set certain category. Note: it's not going to change where the object appears in Buy mode.

Open an object in SimPE. It has to be a mesh, not a recolor. First, find out what BHAV your object uses as its Init function (it's not always obvious):

01

^
1. Select Object Functions file type in Resource Tree.
2. Open a file in Resource List. Usually it has [Object Functions] in place of its name. Sometimes there're a few files. Start from any one.
3. Go to Plugin View.
4. Note the Init function's number. It's hexadecimal so it may contain letters. In this case it's #1002 and named "init".

If the number starts from 1000 (e.g. 1005, 10F7, 1158 or the like), read this spoiler:

If the number starts from 2000 (e.g. 2000, 200A, 2014 or the like), read this spoiler:

Default Thank you for tutorial!
Thank you very much for the detailed tutorial, i kind of gave up with waiting, thought that you forgotten maybe I figured it out how to do it myself not long after i asked you to explain how, just changed one line by copy-pasting it from the objects that worked with your mod, but i'll be sure to save your tutorial on my PC somwhere in case one-line-editing wouldn't be enough. Thanks, again!
