Picked Upload! This is a picked upload! It showcases some of the best talent and creativity available on MTS and in the community.
It's been a while since you've seen anything from me and there are two reasons for that. First, I've had a job so my free time was significantly limited, and secondly, I'm trying to start my own contemporary dollhouse furniture business, so any free time I still had went straight into that. On Thursday, I was let go from my job. It was an intern position that was supposed to only last 4 months and lasted over a year, but I figured out a few months ago it wasn't going to turn into a real job. While I was planning on giving notice soon myself, they beat me to the punch and I found myself suddenly unemployed. To dull the shock of this, and to prove to myself that I can accomplish things, I spent the last 2 days finishing this apartment building that I started ages ago back in Feb when Zarathustra started uploading his amazing highrise apartment buildings. They were so inspiring I wanted to make my own.

Before we get started, I *highly* recommend you get MogHughson's Apartments and Shopping, on the same Lot! mod if you don't have it already. My lot will work without it, but with it, you will have NPC coffee baristas, bartenders, and the DJ.

Downtown Apartments Now Leasing!

This property has tons of amenities your sims will be sure to enjoy. Let's start at the bottom shall we? We have an underground parking lot because parking downtown is always at a premium, and a small crowd surrounding a local breakdancer can often be found there. On street level again is another performing artist, a human statue. Neither of these artists seem to bother our patrons much, so we let them stay. They often end up bringing customers to us! Inside to your left in the lobby is a coffee barista and the local tabloids. You can enjoy your morning coffee and paper here near the calming large salt water fish tank. Towards the back is a small cafe and sometimes you can catch a show or a standup event. There is also a photobooth to help you remember your experience.

Our resident's security is a top priority for us, so to access any more of our building you either need a key card or be buzzed in by another resident. Inside these doors to your right is our pool facility. Changing rooms and restrooms are available. There is a hot tub, and the full wall windows face south, so you can take in the lovely weather indoors if it gets too hot or too cold. Through these next double doors is the pool itself, we have two diving boards and more chairs around the pool. Up these stairs will take you to our deck where you will find more chairs to lay out on. A bar, espresso machine, and live dj will make your time enjoyable. Inside to the left is our gym facility. We only have a few machines, but there is always room for more (if you have UNI) and restrooms of course. The laundry facility is back out off the main hall to your right and there are vending machines and a pinball machine for while you wait. We have plenty of machines always available. Through these two sets of double doors (for sound proofing) is a conference room which can be booked for business events or small parties.

The next five floors are our apartments. The first three are a single floor and are 1 or 2 bed, with 1 or 2 baths, and the fourth apartment is a double floor penthouse. It has 4 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. Each apartment is set up for a different size family unit, so we can cater to whatever your housing needs may be. All units come fully furnished (unless you choose not to, or don't have a hack/update for it), all have bedroom and hall closets, 2 balconies with access to the fire escape, security systems, smoke detectors, and phones installed.

Moving up once again will take you to our city view restaurant and bar with two outdoor seating areas. From one of them you can access our roof and we have a special party space for our residents here. There is a hot tub, grill, table, and chairs, and we even supply a bartender. We like to keep this space flexible and plan on adding a bubble blower later this year. As you can see, this is a fantastic building that can accommodate almost every need imaginable. Shall we head down to the lobby to fill out the leasing papers? I

Enjoy!
-Phae

Basic Download and Install Instructions:

1. Download: Click the download link to save the .rar or .zip file(s) to your computer.

2. Extract: Use WinRAR (Windows) or Stuffit (Mac) to extract the .sims2pack file(s) from the .rar or .zip file(s).

3. Install: Double-click on the .sims2pack file to install its contents to your game. The files will automatically be installed to the proper location(s).
  • You may want to use the Sims2Pack Clean Installer instead of the game's installer, which will let you install sims and pets which may otherwise give errors about needing expansion packs. It also lets you choose what included content to install. Do NOT use Clean Installer to get around this error with lots and houses as that can cause your game to crash when attempting to use that lot. Get S2PCI here: Clean Installer Official Site.

Oh my, that sounds very strange! Which floor do you mean? When you first enter the building, or enter the first apartment? Or the floor in between? Can you take a screenshot of your issue? That would probably be the fastest way for me to track it down and fix it.

I'm glad you love the lot, and I'm sorry it lags your game. It is a huge lot, so that's not surprising.

Unfortunately, the most likely thing is that your computer is just not powerful enough to run this lot. It is a very big lot, and because I only used 1 piece of CC, it really can't be a CC bug. You can try redownloading it, reinstalling it, and replacing it in your neighborhood, but if that doesn't work, the only thing that will is a better computer.

Default Thanks! (I also have the blue issue!)
Thank you so much for this! I'm trying to have more apartment-y sims and I would never have the patience to create such a vast block with so much detail :D

However, I'm also having this blue layer problem - it appears that the swimming pool water has overflowed?! It is a blue layer that appears to be floating slightly and goes all over ground (filling the basement) and goes all the way to the pavement. The first floor - ie the orange floored foundation layer - is fine.. I thought it was my odd graphics playing up (again...) but I guess it might be a more common issue! Do you have any idea what it could be? (I'm guessing something to do with basement garage / swimming pool issues? Odd though!)

Thanks again!

The apartment is amazing, I really love it even though it's a huge lot and it can get a bit laggy when I'm on the upper floors. But you did an awesome job
There's just one thing I noticed now: that sim we have to talk to when we want to sit down at a table at a restaurant only shows me the option to sit at the bar even though there's plenty of tables :s Any opinion on how to solve this?

OMG this build is fantastic thank you, as a new sims 2 player I was a little wary of apartments especially as I could not figure out why cars were not allowed on the lot but my sims can own cars on your lot so happiness ensued as my sim got back his Ferrari-) new to me is being able to gossip with neighbors close by which is so enjoyable and last but not least lots of things to entertain sims everywhere, I cannot praise your creativity highly enough....

Upload on my previous comment: I've played in this apartment only a couple of times and most of them my game decided to die and stop responding. Is this because this is a SUPER HUGE lot? It's really sad I can't fully enjoy it :c
Although I haven't got the time to test it out much yet, I'll try to lower the settings and see how things run next time.

I specifically tested the top floor restaurant, I didn't have any trouble getting seated at a table. When you are being sitted, just click on the table you want.
