Picked Upload! This is a picked upload! It showcases some of the best talent and creativity available on MTS and in the community.
Update v2 (Jan 14, 2018) - The mod has been updated to be compatible with the latest game patches (The Sims 4 version, Jan 11, 2018). It has been repackaged as a .ts4script file, so to install the mod simply extract the script file from the download file into your mods folder.

Use only one version of the mod - the normal version will issue a notification when a paused pregnancy is ready for delivery, and the no alert version will simply pause the pregnancy prior to delivery without notifications.

Auto-Pause Pregnancy

It annoyed me that played sims that were pregnant would complete their pregnancy while I was playing another lot, even though I had aging for played sims set to the current household only. I'd come back after playing another lot for a few sim days to find that the parents had missed out on the whole process and had a new crib with a randomly named baby. The mother hadn't aged... so how the heck did the baby get born while time was standing still?

I wrote a simple script mod to take care of this "fault" with the game. Since I have a few other mods I'm working on that aren't ready for release, I thought I'd spend a couple hours tonight polishing this up and uploading it for those who also don't like this happening.

Usage is automatic once the mod is installed, this simply skips the automatic labor/birth process for any played sims that aren't in the current household. It effectively puts the pregnancy on hold until the next time you load up that lot. A notification will display showing the sim that is ready for labor so that you can switch to that lot when you are ready to continue that household.

The automatic birth is only skipped if the aging option for played sims is set to only allow aging for the current household, or turned off completely. Non-player controlled sims (NPCs and townies) will continue to have their pregnancies finish off normally.

Installation and Compatibility

To install, simply extract the .ts4script file from the download into your mods folder. Script mods can be placed a maximum of one subfolder deep in order to function properly.

Scripting must be enabled in your game options even if you use the mod manager for installation.

This mod was written and tested on Windows version of The Sims 4 (Jan 11, 2018), but will likely work with several previous and future game patches.

The script source is included in the zip file. This mod may conflict with any other mod that modifies the update_pregnancy script in the game. It is fully compatible with all known existing mods (in particular the MC Command Center, which implements a similar feature now).

You must have the expansion or stuff packs listed below installed to use this custom content. Please see the post text for any exceptions.

Sims 4

This is a multi-part download:

Use only one version. They both work identically except the No Alert version will not generate in-game notifications that a labor has been skipped.

Basic Download and Install Instructions:
1. Download: Click the File tab to see the download link. Click the link to save the .rar or .zip file(s) to your computer.
Read the upload description for installation instructions. If nothing else is specified, do the following:
No Extraction Required (Script Mods):
1. Cut and paste the .zip file(s) into your Mods folder
  • Windows XP: Documents and Settings\(Current User Account)\My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods\
  • Windows Vista/7/8/8.1: Users\(Current User Account)\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods\
Script mods need to be placed directly in \Mods or one level below that (e.g. \Mods\Scripts) – sub-folders nested any deeper won’t work.
Extraction Required (Everything Else):
1. Use WinRAR (Windows) to extract the .package file(s) from the .rar or .zip file(s).
2. Cut and paste the .package file(s) into your Mods folder
  • Windows XP: Documents and Settings\(Current User Account)\My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods\
  • Windows Vista/7/8/8.1: Users\(Current User Account)\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods\

Need more information?
  • Anyone can use both .rar and .zip files easily! On Windows, use WinRAR.
  • If you don't have a Mods folder, just make one.
  • Mod still not working? Make sure you have script mods enabled

Is there any way you could make a mod that allows you to pause a pregnancy with the household you're playing?

I noticed this post has not received a reply. Can anyone verify if it's working nowadays?

I'm blogging a challenge and for story purposes, I want to move four Sims into separate lots, get them all pregnant at once, and then have control over when each baby is born. I would like to make sure that none of the babies are born automatically while I'm playing a different household, since I want to document each Sim's pregnancy and birth story as separate chapters in my blog.

I tested it, and the pregnancy did stop at the third trimester and I received a warning when she was ready to go into labor. Seems to be working currently.

Although, I had some weird bugs here and there, where my Sims would repeatedly nap autonomously, and I could not get them to try for baby until I deleted a custom bed (which usually works fine) and replaced it with a base game bed. Not sure if it has anything to do with this mod or not, just hadn't had that happen before I installed it, so I thought it was worth mentioning.

I think we have another patch release tomorrow, so I'll have to test it again to see if it still works after the patch.

Default Broken by Patch 27th October
After downloading the latest patch 2 of my families have given birth whilst I was playing another household. I enabled my mods and restarted the Sims 4 after patching. Could you please update this mod as I rely on it for rotational play.

To those who have missed using this mod, I'm not sure if someone's already mentioned it yet in the comments here, but MC Command Center has pregnancy options. It lets you pause pregnancies just like this mod did before it broke, plus you can do a whole lot of other things if you choose. It sounds overwhelming when you first read it, but it's really pretty easy to use. If you're only interested in the pregnancy options, you can just install the main MCCC module and the pregnancy module and skip the other ones!

Just make sure to backup your game files before every EA patch or expansion/game/stuff pack. My understanding is that the EA updates often break the mod, but it is usually fixed by the creator pretty quickly. But just in case the mod breaks and messes up my game, I like to have everything backed up.

I'll look into updating this one, kind of forgot about it myself as MC Command Center has this functionality built in. I realize not everyone wants to use that though. Shouldn't take too long, maybe later tonight.
