Seriously the last post was in 2006? I guess no one has been able to upgrade this nifty little program? Such a shame..

I'm willing to give it a try with the help of my mom (who actually designs computer programs for her work) But don't expect too much of it, I have no idea if I will manage to update this awesome program.

EDIT: I searched for the source code, and found out it is not available. There's no way for me to update this program. However, I can try to rebuild the program, but I guess that will be a lot of work...

There have been other posts from 2011; I suspect the 2006 you saw was someone's Join Date. I did a double take on that myself, even though I knew I myself had posted since then (I wasn't even playing in 2006).

I've actually made a pretty good start to the basics of this database, but I still have a long way to go, and plenty of bugs to figure out. I'm afraid it's been several months since I've worked on it seriously; I'll have to break out Access and try again.

No promises on the family tree or the SimPE import, however. I've figured out how to manually import from SimPE (by first importing the character info into Excel, manipulating it there, then importing from Excel to Access), but I don't know how to even begin to code all that so a user can do it with a few clicks of a mouse.

This is an excellent tool and I was hoping that someone would be able to update it thru Apartment Life. I've used it on several of my hoods in the past and I've decided to use it again. Notebooks are so tedious.

Hey all, it's been years... I stopped playing Sims for a while, but I'm back for a while now - playing Sims 4 Anyway I just wanted to say that (obviously) I am no longer updating this database, as it was developed on a very old software that probably no longer even works on Windows 10. [Edit - Sims2DB still appears to work on Windows 10, but I wouldn't count on being able to import data from SimPE. But as a nice little standalone database, it still seems to work fine.]

However, I wanted to point people toward something I've been using for a database - for Sims 4. I use a free online database called AirTable to keep track of my sims now and it's pretty cool. I have a template I've been using - it might be a little rough around the edges, but the template is easily modifiable by anyone. If you're interested, let me know and I'll share the template (you have to sign up for AirTable first).

Too bad it isn't being updated any longer. The program can no longer find SimPE even when installed into the very same directory.

This makes it not particularly useful for a large and well-developed neighborhood, especially if using the Ultimate Collection with all the available bells and whistles. IMHO the biggest flaw was the failure to include a generic .csv importer (because the latest versions of SimPE DO default to .csv in Exporting Neighborhoods, and it would have been possible to run a manual export-import that way).
