Featured upload! New Mesh Mounted Butterflies in a Frame

by lagermonkey Posted 12th Feb 2007 at 2:55 PM - Updated 9th Jul 2008 at 10:32 PM by lagermonkey : anyone who downloaded while it had the bad wall shadow should have redownloaded by now.

This is a new mesh, and means that it's a brand new self contained object that usually does not require a specific Expansion pack (although this is possible depending on the type). It may have Recolours hosted on MTS - check below the description for more information.
This is a featured upload! It showcases the best talent and creativity available on MTS and in the community.
For all you fans of butterflies
I bring you eight dead butterflies cruelly impaled on pins and mounted lovingly in a hand crafted box made of the finest wood substitute.
Your Sims will marvel at the craftsmanship and wonder how they got the butterflies to sit still long enough to stick a pin through.

The for recolourers zip file is not necessary to make this object work. It is only a helpful file for anybody wanting to recolour this object.

You can find it under decorative wall hangings.

It has been tested in the base game and with expansion packs so it should be fine for all.

The mesh has 90 faces and 156 vertices

You may upload this object in a lot to free sites only. They have to be proper free sites though, not half free and half not.

The item is recolourable which you are welcome to do.
You can also include the mesh with your recolour and post on any site.

Because of the way that the mesh and alpha work I would recommend anybody wanting to recolour this to download the for recolourers zip file.
This contains a pdf explaining everything and texture maps to help you get everything in the right place.

The mesh was created in 3d studio and textured in photoshop.

Everything was of course made functional in SimPE.

You must have the expansion or stuff packs listed below installed to use this custom content. Please see the post text for any exceptions.

Wow, that's really beautifully done. They look so real! It's this level of perfect attention to detail I appreciate a lot in my game - and so low poly! I have to have this! *downloads* Thank you.

I'm glad you like it. The reason the poly count is so low is because the butterflies sit on a concertina shaped mesh of 4 faces which is then shaped by the alpha channel. I'm hoping people will think to use the same mesh for other things like a treasure map or whatever people can of.

Oh! How delightfully clever! I don't think I ever would have thought to do it that way, but as one mesher to another... that's freakin' sweet, and such a cool, graceful way of accomplishing it. It bears saying again: Very well done!

I really want something like this in real life but for now I keep endlessly spoiling my sims by giving them everything I can't have. This is a gorgeous mesh, thank you for posting it.
