Thanks for this great idea !
Sorry for the dumb question but is it really "sinclude "partylights.nlo"" that I have to add in the lighting.txt file and not "include" ?

WOnderful idea! I'm snagging these.

I did have a question though: Where can I put my hands on the arbor grid (floortile?) that is shown overhead in the first screenshot?

I've been looking for something like this for a while. :D

TIA

LOL It's not a floortile. I made it by laying down a grid of the railroad tie edging on the floor above, supported by occaisional columns.

Hi, I really would love to download these gorgeous lights but, (Gosh I feel so stupid asking), I don't exactly know where the file is and I have Windows Vista. I've tried looking for the file you specified but when I enter it, it says it doesn't exist. Any help? Oh and I have no clue what Scriptorium is. ^^; Talk about clueless?

You can get the scriptorium here: http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=192613
You will need to read the instructions, but if you do so, then you will be able to install my partylights.nlo file without having to edit your lighting.txt file.

I can't provide any assistance with Vista as fortunately I don't have it.

I have just started using these in my game and I must say they are absolutely amazing! Thank you so much!

These are some of the most valuable objects that are in my game. I use them everywhere and they make the most beautiful screen shots. I like to use them as ambient lighting, to make the creepy graveyard scenes just a tad creepier, or to make a romantic dinner seem more romantic by adding a hint of orange... Have you considered this idea using an older time period lighting fixture or a floor lamp? It would look rather ominous to have a red hued candelabra flanking the sides of a vampire's crypt or something of the sort...

They really are wonderful! I use them with the Radiance mod and it's phenomenal.

Thanks - I'm glad to hear they work ok with Radiance. I don't use it myself as I find the contrast between light and shadow a little extreme but I still think it's a great piece of work.

I'm not planning any floor-mounted lights....I did make a set of chinese lanterns that use the same lighting definitions...I'd be surprised if someone hasn't made something along the lines of what you describe though.

Even though xginkr2 stated there were no problems with RLS, your lights won't work for me. Which is really sad because I used to use them a LOT.
RLS adds a bulk of definition files to the Lights folder, maybe there's something that needs to be added somewhere?
It'd be absolutely awesome if you (or any other competent modder, which I am definitely not) could take a look at it.

Edit: Okay, a few trial and errors later I found the solution - just copy and paste the whole content of "partylights.nlo" into the Lights.txt file, that's gonna do the trick.

Default I'm on a Mac running OSX 10.9.5....
There is no 'data' folder in the Super Collection. Where do I put the .nlo file? Does anyone know? I'd really love to use these party string lights and the downtown signs, but those don't work with this and the game is configured differently.

If anyone can help that would be great!

Thanks for making these though, I'd really like to figure out how to make them work in this version of Sims 2.

Hi zheyrryhn,

fellow Mac user here! I dug around a bit in the Supercollection files on my Mac, I think the file you are looking for is called „Lighting.txt“.

The path is Programs -> The Sims 2 SuperCollection -> Contents -> Home -> TSData -> Res -> Lights -> Lighting.txt

How to find it:

Right click on the program itself and choose „Show package contents“

Double click on „Contents“

Double click on „Home“

Double click on „TSData“

Double click on „Res“

Double click on „Lights“

There is a file called „Lighting.txt“, which I suppose is the file you want to edit. I did not test this, though. Hope this helps!
