I used this to turn my Setra sims3pack into a package, and I moved it to the mods/packages folder and I did not see Setra in my world's list |

Does anybody know if there are certain files that crash the game if converted? I extracted clothing, makeup, sims and lots and my game won't start now. Anyone else having these problems? |

Thank you for point out the case problem! I am a newbie at this and tried to merge a lot of information from different sources which got me to running dashboard, this program and S3PE with mono, but this program would not find any sims3pack files. I tried your fix by changing the extension name and it worked! Thanks!!

Hello Delphy, Many thanks for sharing this with us all. Seeing as you said that you hadn't tested it with Mono, Just letting you know that I have just tried to run this using Mono on a Macbook Pro Snow Leopard 10.6.8, and it does not work. It will open fine and seems to work but when you click Extract it doesn't do anything. Just so you know! ![]() Hopefully someone will release some of these sorts of programs for Mac soon. Until then I will wait patiently. Haha Have a great day! |

Hi Delphy, this tool is great (potentially) and I'd love to use it. However I've just tried it out on my Imac Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and it although it allows me to select my folder containing sims3packs and my destination folder to extract to, when I press 'Extract', it does nothing except say 'No Sims3Packs were found in folder'. Will you be making any adjustments so that I can convert my millions (slight exaggeration...only slight tho, lol) of Sim3Packs into packages? I really hope so. Thanks for all your hard work : ) |

A little bit of stuffing around, and I figured out that the files themselves were given the extension '.sims3pack' I changed the file name to '.Sims3Pack' and they extracted fine. Gots to be careful with the case!!! Thank you so much! It's working like a dream now! Yes, i have to rename my 75gb of cc, lol, but it'll be worth it once I merge them all on Sp3e. Thanks again : ) |

This program is like a godsend when it comes to EA items! I find it especially useful for picking and choosing exactly which items I want from EA Store compilations... After all, just because I want 5 out of 10, shouldn't mean I'm stuck with another 5 items I don't want (that, combined with other unwanted compilation items, only bog down my game). However, I've run into a problem and I'm not sure if its the original Sims3Pack, or something I did wrong with the extractor. In sorting through my 2k+ files the program extracted, there'll be an occasional item that the icon or thumb in S3PE doesn't do justice. I place it in my Packages folder (in which hundreds of mods and CC have worked in the past. I AM installing them correctly. Any tips? Should I be leaving EA content alone and do this only with user created items? Or is it potentially a problem with the Sims3Pack itself? I've scanned all problem files using your Sims3 Dashboard, and they never indicate any problems... |

| metisqueen | I think the program as great as it is, is incompatible with Windows 7, as everytime I use it, I gives me the installed incorrectly message and the game stopped responding after I install the new package file |

What do u do with the sims3packs in the downloads folder after you converted them into packages? delete them? cause theyre dubble now in the game right and it makes it slower? Oh and also, it works with sims3pack with only ONE package inside, how do u know? I converted all my 100 sims3packs, and got over 1000 packages now, is it normal? |

i love this tool, i use it all of the time for my sims3pack cc files i get online now. I was wondering though, i have a lot of sims3pack files from cc websites and the sims 3 store together in my downloads folder so i cant really tell them apart. My question is, is it okay to convert the content i got from the store (i.e. a world, clothes, hair) If anyone can get back to my question that would be very helpful |

ok q and a ![]() first off this tool is awesome cuz my launcher has like never worked!!! So much obliged! just one question. If I unpack a world is it ok to leave it as is (.package) and put it into the mods folder. Or would it be better to repackage the files as a .world and place it into the InstalledWorlds folder? answer time: I know most posts are old, but in answer to a lot of comments. This tool does exactly what the launcher should do, if and when you can ever get EA things to work correctly! So all of these odd files that it extracts, the launcher does the same thing. Now, a bit of a tutorial for keeping things in tact. Using this tool and the S3PE tool. Create a folder on your desktop and name it whatever.... extract only one .Sims3Pack at a time to this folder, then run S3PE and import all .packages in this folder into one new package naming it whatever the .Sims3Pack's name was. Now move your newly created .package to your mods folder and delete all other .package files in the folder on your desktop.....lather, rinse and repeat... a bit lengthy of a process but in the long run it helps keep things in check. You can also try other programs such as CCMagic to help categorize .package files and then use S3PE to merge categories together. As well as Sims3Dashboard to help troubleshoot conflicts.

[QUOTE=FurDesign]What do u do with the sims3packs in the downloads folder after you converted them into packages? delete them? cause theyre dubble now in the game right and it makes it slower? QUOTE] What I like to do is create an "Extracting Folder" on my desktop to do the extracting so as not to confuse things. I do a batch at a time, put the newly extracted package files in the game, run the game and whiz through each category with the Custom Content sorted. I found that some stuff doesn't crash the game until it shows up in the catalog so just going into the game isn't enough. If everything is fine, and it usually is except for those pesky Patterns, I go back to my extracting folder and delete the .sims3packages files. The whole point is to extract them so you can get rid of them! If you have a bunch of packages files, you can look into repacking them with S3PE to make fewer, larger packages. Just make sure everything is fine before you do it - you don't want to pack problems with the rest of the stuff! I just wanted to say that long, long ago when I first started doing this, I was told I couldn't use it on Worlds, Sims, Lots or EA content. So I didn't. I see that people are doing it, however, but it seems many are having issues. My main reason for using packages is the ease of removing them - don't want them anymore, want to take them out to check new content, etc. I don't really need to remove Worlds or EA content and I don't have that many Sims or Lots that I can't figure out what goes and what stays. The only thorn is the pattern files...I have to go through them individually to see if they work or not. Is there any quick way to identify those that won't work as packages? Is there any way an end user can adjust them (like with s3pe) to make them work as package files? |
