This is a featured upload! It showcases the best talent and creativity available on MTS and in the community.
It's been a little over a year in the making but I've finally finished this project. Right around the time the achievement stickers came out I finally decided to commit to making a full neighborhood as an upload for you all. Luckily inspiration struck at roughly the same time. I was driving around with my (now) ex-boyfriend, Kalimos, (don't worry, it was an amicable split, we still talk and I'll likely still use him as my male model for my photoshoots) when we could not for the life of us, find the street we were looking for. The trees and shrubs were so overgrown on the street signs that eventually out of exasperation, he exclaimed, "I can't see a darn thing, that could be freaking West Weasels for all I know." (The language was a tad more colorful, but I don't believe it to be appropriate here.) With an awesome name as West Weasels, I just had to come up with something equally awesome, hopefully, you'll agree that I did.

West Weasels is a quaint and cozy little town. I wanted to make it as extra cutesy as possible without going overboard. This fairytale neighborhood was originally intended as a home for all our supernatural sims to live in harmony together. I see it as a fun place for them to live and to come back to after their work day as storybook creatures is over. I see them as actors of sorts. Like the old Looney Toons where the wolf and the sheep dog chase each other on the clock, but when they punch out they are friends, or like the Disney movie Halloweentown, lots of monsters and creatures all living together like no one is different or strange. Then again, this is just how I see it for my game; I purposely left the town vanilla enough for everyone to make up their own story to go with it.

The quaint little town of West Weasels is a perfect place to slow down. Everyone here is friendly, and while some of them have quirks, no one minds.

There are plenty of affordable cute houses here. Seven of the ten on this street can be purchased straight out of pocket. The other homes in this neighborhood are at various price points.

There are plenty of things to do and places to shop at in West Weasels. We have a town square that is a great place to meet people, the city park is a lovely place to take in the outside. We also have an ice rink, a community center with swimming pool, and a row of shops; toys, baked goods, gifts, antiques, and a hair salon.

The old marina features a restaurant, a fish market, and a game hall. The hermit's hut is perfect for an old seadog, afordable and out of the way.

I hope you enjoy playing with this hood as much as I enjoyed making it.
-Phae

P.S. Its a lot of work to get a project this big completed and uploaded, but I know its all worth it when I get to read all your comments. They really brighten my day, knowing that I've made people happy with my work. Thank you.

OFB, Pets, SSN, and MG Required

Known Issues: Whoops! The skating rink bathroom is missing its door! Be sure to add one in before you send simmies there or they'll be doing the potty dance the entire time they are there! I've fixed this in the separate download for the skate rink if you don't trust your building skills enough to add the black expensive wooden door.

Custom Content Included
Neighborhood Objects by Criquette
- Marina fishingboat single, Marina sailboat single, Marina wood pier short
- Walkway side, Walkway stairs right
Gable Ornament by Marina
- 2tiles - 8tiles
Stairs, Animation, and Ladder by Marvine
Slot Enable Package Countertop Mod by Numenor
Roof Trim Default, and Tire Swing by Phaenoh

Install Instructions:
Download all three files, you need both Part 1 and 2 of the hood and the Downloads archive. Remove the MTS_Phaenoh_(numbers) from their names and unrar them together. Don't forget to download the CC. Trust me you will want the CC I've chosen. I've tried very hard to keep the CC to a bare minimum because I know there are so many of us out there who don't like to use CC or don't like to download it in houses.

Place the folder N327 (number chosen for my birthday, corny maybe but I like it) in your Neighborhoods folder. Place the files from the downloads into your download folder. Start up the game and you should see West Weasels likely at the end of your neighborhoods list and it's custom thumbnail.

You must have the expansion or stuff packs listed below installed to use this custom content. Please see the post text for any exceptions.

Is there ANY way at all this could have the Stuff Pack NOT required? I do not have ANY of the Stuff Packs because a lot of them cause issues with all my custom downloads (up to almost 10 gigs worth of them so far...) I really LOVE this...hate that I cannot use it :/

Sorry, unfortunately, even though MG is sold as a stuff pack, it changes the game engine. This makes any lot made with it require it. Without MG though, the entire neighborhood would lose a serious amount of it's charm and character. I planned it all out in advance to make sure that I wouldn't have any unneeded EPs or SPs. MG is one of my favorites, you might reconsider. (Stuff packs shouldn't interfere at all with downloads, they are essentially just EA downloads, no game code is changed. You might have mod conflicts instead)

Thank you so much for posting this. I've been playing it for awhile as the main hood of my uberhood. Basically, I love Maxis sims but hate the houses/neighborhoods, so I downloaded Tarlia's cleaned up shopping districts, attached them all, took the sims (and graves) and then deleted them all.. I did the same with Mootilda's Brainania Uni and Maxis Unis. I'm using StephSims small kingdom as my shopping district for the Veronaville sims (great excuse to use all those pretty medieval clothes even though I don't have the patience for a full medieval hood ha). And Belladonna Cove as my downtown (the one Maxis neighborhood I enjoy). I love this neighborhood, it's beautiful AND functional and I plan to play this with the Maxis sims for a long time!

Really gorgeous. I'm using this as the main 'hood of the prosperity challenge in my sig. Question though--what is the intention of the awning indoors in the dining room of Spanish Abode? Is it supposed to be a curtain?

I'm glad you like my hood! I went and checked the pictures I have and I don't see the awning, nor do I remember adding it. Maybe it slipped in on accident? Feel free to remove it.

Don't move any of my folders around, just place the entire thing (folder N327) into your Neighborhoods folder as is.

Love this! Thank you! Is it possible this can also be converted into a subhood?

Yes, quite easily. I use it myself as a sub for Desdirata. I believe Mootilda wrote a tutorial on how to make custom subhoods.

I downloaded this right after you uploaded it. I clicked the Thank You button but wanted to save my comments until I'd played the neighborhood for a while. Then of course life got in the way, creations were needed and so on. So I apologize for taking so dreadfully long to comment on this neighborhood. I love it! I play it often. My sims there are personal favorites. I also downloaded the custom supernaturals for that neighborhood and they have added to the flow of the drama! Thanks again.

Still, by far, my favorite neighborhood, custom or standard. I lost a well-played legacy set in West Weasels to hard-drive suicide. This put me off Sims for a couple of years, but the urge is back, and it's time for new folks to move in. Thanks, again, for such a lovely place to raise my Sims.

At your suggestion, I'm downloading West Weasels AND your SciFi Starter Families. The question is... at the end of the day, what families should be in what houses? You designed the neighborhood for this purpose, and yeah... plantsim is obvious... but can you elaborate on where you envisioned the rest?

I didn't specifically make each house for these particular families, just supers in general and an overall silly storybook feel, but in my game: Bigfoot is in the Hermit's Hut, Wolfgang is in the Spanish Abode, The Grey's are in the Cozy Casa Blanca, I have a mannequin doll family living in the Princess Victoria, my Vampire is in Edward Manor, my plantsim started off in the Garden Villa before she married Elliott who started out in Easy Breezeway and then they moved their quickly growing family into Family Values.

All the houses were designed to be super cute rather than for a specific family, so if something feels right for a sim, go for it. The vibe of the neighborhood is just supposed to be weird and quirky, so your super families will fit in any house that is sized right for their family and needs. Don't worry about who is supposed to go where.

I really appreciate the answer, and I'll keep what you said in mind when I play the hood. Thanks! :D
