This is a Maxis Recolour which means that it is a recolour of an item that already exists in your game. Please check the Expansion pack requirements to see which game pack it recolours.
This is a new mesh, and means that it's a brand new self contained object that usually does not require a specific Expansion pack (although this is possible depending on the type). It may have Recolours hosted on MTS2 - check the sidebar.
This is a new mesh recolour, and means that you will need to download the particular mesh itself in order for this to show up in your game. See the Meshes Needed section or read the text for more information.
This is a featured upload! It showcases the best talent and creativity available on MTS and in the community.

Buy Set - DIY
I did it again, a simple small plan for a set turned into something huge. This is my Buy Set (part one I hope) and I have made it so that you could have more choices on decorating your simmies homes.
The idea was simple - a modular kitchen with some pieces that would go together and be rearrangeable - but you know me, can I keep it small and simple, no. ^^
This set has counters, doors, drawers, cupboards and cabinets, and some various bits, for you to create unique and interesting rooms. All of the pieces are made to go together, so you'll have "endless" choices. Please read the post carefully, I'll try to explain what this is all about.
The counter, cupboards and cabinets are "host" objects, with slots for the rest of the pieces. So when you compile the item the way you want it to look, you can then move it around freely - all objects placed on the host will stay put. There are slots in the front corners for doors and drawers, and then there are slots in the middle for shelving, dividers, and clutter. The framed doors and drawers also have slots for the glasses/planes, and for handles of course.
OBJECT INFORMATION
This is a big set, that consist of 119 object files + one master texture file, making the total number of files in the set 120! Most of the objects are repo-linked to the master texture file armiel_DIY_Buy Set_Textures.package, to keep the file sizes small.
Two of the files are sims3packs and have their own textures within their files, they are the DIY Counter Top and the DIY Counter Island. The objects are made as sims3packs due to how making them as package files in TSRW breaks the textures in the corner pieces and any pieces placed after those. Thank you to the mods who allowed me to upload them as sims3packs, as while I can make objects, making modulars in S3OC/S3PE combo is too much for my head.
Below are the detailed informations about object names, prices, recolourable channels, polycounts, number of slots, number of presets, and catalog location. A word of warning! It's a big list.

*The misc. storage category will be known as misc. armiel from now on
Few notes:
All of the objects except glasses, have 3 channels enabled, but they only use the first channels (numbers above). I left the channels open for future addons, to make using CAST easier.
The meaning and use of the slots is explained below on the how to use-part.
The objects with 2 presets - the first preset is darker, EA counters matching preset, and the other one is lighter to have brighter shades of colors, matches closely to the study room objects for example.
While the polycount of a single item in this set is not too high, it may grow quite big per tile, if you use a lot of the small pieces + a ton of clutter in one tile. Example on compiled item polycount: Counter top + base, 2 plain doors and 2 modern handles = 238 poly. Still not high at all, but you get the point.
DOWNLOAD, INSTALL, USE!
Here are the instructions on what to download, how to install, and most importantly, how to use the set!
What to download?
I have tried to make this as easy as it's possible for you. All of the files come in one rar, thanks to the repository method which allows us to keep filesizes small.
Contents of the file:
armiel Buy Set - DIY -folder containing subfolders for object types, and the texture file.
The two sims3packs
How to install?
Download the file
Extract the sims3packs to Downloads-folder and install them via the Launcher (If you don't know how, read here)
Extract the folder containing the package-files to Packages-folder (If you don't know how, read here)
Note about the sims3packs: As explained above, I made those two items sims3packs on purpose. You can try extracting them to packages if you feel you don't want to install/use sims3packs, BUT - making them package-files may (and most likely will) break the corners and cause the textures to act oddly. Using CC Magic by grathes causes the same issue, as it fiddles the sims3packs. You can use it, but prepare yourself for some ugly corners and islands (You can cast them back to normal)
Note about the texture file:Do not in any circumstances delete the texture file (unless you want to get rid of whole set of course). If you delete it, you can't CAST the objects, at all. Are warned.
Note about the rest of the files:You can safely delete any file you do not wish to use from the folder.
How to use?
I have both written instructions, and a video, for you. It's a bit long, and has a staggering Finn blabbing on it, but it should still show you how you can use the set. See the video here: LINKY
If you prefer written instructions, click the button below.
Written instructions:
If you read the object information sheet above, you'll know that the pieces are found in two places - The counter objects are in counter category, and the rest of the pieces are found in misc. storage. The items are priced by size, so for example, all pieces that fit full counter (from bottom to top) have "counter full" in their name, and cost 18. The pieces that have "small" in their name, are smaller than a full counter, and pieces with "medium" in their name are bigger than full counter. Pieces with "Big" or "Full" are the biggest pieces, and only fit in the cupboards.
The counter comes in two pieces - the top and the bottom. Let's make us a counter with two glass doors and a shelf to place objects on. Here is a little Gif of what we are making, with pic of each phase, with little circles showing where the slots for the objects are.
Start by placing the counter tops (DIY Counter Top) where you want the counters to be. Then place the bottoms (the DIY Counter Base) under then top. Next we need to find the DIY Shelf Counter Inside. It's in the misc. storage, and costs 10. Place it on the counter bottom. It will snap to a slot, and you can raise it to decider height by holding down the mouse button and pushing the mouse up. Then you can place some deco on the shelf if you feel like it.
Next, place the DIY Kitchen Counter Divider. It has a foot print on the bottom, so it will snap to either or the middle slots. make sure you place it to one closer to front.
Then we need to find the door frames. They are called DIY Door Frame Counter Full. The doors, all of them, have their foot print on the left bottom corner. The counter base (as the cabinets and cupboards, and the divider shelves) have slots for the doors in their front corners. So you can place one door frame to the left bottom corner of the counter base. You'll see it snapping to the slot. Then, to place a right side door, you will need to rotate the door 180 degrees. Then you can place it on the counter base right bottom corner. You should now have two door frames on your counter base.
Last, we need to place the glass objects. For a full counter, they are called DIY Framed Glass Counter Full, and they cost 18. Their foot print is at the bottom middle, and the frames have a slot for them on their bottom middle, so just place the glass near the door frame, and it should snap to place. Then repeat for the right side door (no need to rotate!). Then place the handles, left and right. You may need to hover around the frame a little, so that the handle will go to it's place (remember, with any object, you can move to next slot by pressing "m".). Finish with some nice CAST.
If you understood what I'm trying to explain here, you should now have a counter with 2 glass doors and a shelf.
The rest of the objects work with same principal, and I'll try to explain the use of every object in the individual comment posts. If you're still confused after reading the comment posts, please see the video, and you can see with your own eyes how the objects work.
You can see the closeup pictures of the objects, and read a bit more of the various uses, in comments.

Final thoughts
Please enjoy this set, and have fun exploring its possibilities. I did hours and hours of testing, and could not run to a boring moment where I would have used all the options the set has. I have attached few pics below, they are just few choices of what you can do with the set.
/me shuffles off to plan part 2.
Please do not ask what and when - You'll see if and when it's up.

Counter pieces, Island, Cabinets and Cupboards
Here are the base items of the set.
The counter is made of two pieces, due to some weirdness in the counters that you can't add new slots to them, below the surface. So I made the top and bottom separately, and moved one top slot on it's bottom, to host the counter base. Then I made an island to go with the counter.
The counters and island are also sims3packs, due to texture glitches you get if you make a counter a package-file in TSRW. So make sure you install them correctly.
The Cabinets come in 3 sizes, and can be shifted up and down, making the set really versatile. The items are sized to match the heights the objects raise when shifter without holding Alt-key.
Then there are two cupboards. They are full wall height. One is same depth as the counter, and other one is same depth as the cabinets.
All the base objects have slots in them for the other objects in the set. There are slots for objects such as the shelves and dividers in the middle of the objects bottoms, and then there are slots for the doors and drawers in the bottom front corners. The cabinets also have a row of slots on top of them, so you can place stuff there too. The base objects are also made so that they join each other seamlessly.
Below are some pics, that show the presets and tiling, and also the slots.
Note: You do need to place the base object under the top. If you don't, sim will automatically use the slot moved to the bottom as their first choice on placing food and other stuff on counter - and you don't want the food to go on floor, do you. (this happened with any slot I tested the moving to the bottom with, so it's unavoidable)
Note II: There may be cases where the sim won't use the counter top on prepping food. These are for example when some big decorative objects are placed very close to the food prepping slot (either under of above it). Most combinations I have tried the sims can prep food though, so running in to such issue - the possibility exists, but it should be rare. If you do run into this issue, please take a picture of the setup and post it in this thread.
The shelving comes in three size based purposes. There are shelves that go inside the base items when they have doors or drawers, then there are shelves that are made to divide the base items horizontally, and finally, there are shelves that are the same width and depth as the base items.
Not to limit it to just that, I also made half sized shelving, and corner pieces. All shelves have the identifier in their name, that tells where they go or what they do. For example, a shelf called "DIY Shelf Counter Divider" tells you that the shelf is counter depth, meant to go inside it, and lines up with the counter (or cupboard full) front when placed to correct slot.
All the shelves can be shifted up and down. The "inside" shelving is made so that it snaps on a slot in the base item. The shelves also have slots based on their purpose.
The inside shelving only has slots in their middle parts. A full width one has one in the left, 1-2 on the middle, and one on the right.
The divider shelving has those above, and then also ones in their front corners for doors and drawers.
The base sized shelving have slots in the middle like the ones above, and also on their sides, so that if you place mane on row you can also place stuff where the two objects meet.
Below are pictures that show the items presets, tiling, and slot locations.
These are the very basic doors and drawers. They come in various sizes, so you'll have tons of options on how to compile your counters etc.
Their foot print is on the left corner, so they'll snap to the base object corner slots and sit nicely. To place a right hand door, you'll need to rotate the door 180 degrees and then place it on the base object right corner slot.
They also have multiple slots for the handles. The small sizes have slots for both horizontal and vertical handless, in many spots - the biggest sizes only have one slot for the vertical handles.
These are the frame doors and drawers, and the planes and glasses for them. They come in various sizes, so you'll have tons of options on how to compile your counters etc.

The planes and glasses then, their foot print is in the bottom middle, and on the double wides the footprint in on the middle of the left side bottom. They will snap nicely to the frames, and you will not need to rotate them - they fit the frames no matter which way they are placed.
These are the vertical dividers for the counter, cupboards and cabinets. They come in two depth, and multiple sizes. The name of the object tells you which size door/drawer they match in size.
Their footprint is in the bottom middle, so they'll snap nicely the base object middle slots. They don't have slots, and cannot be shifted.
There are two types of handles - curvy more basic ones, and then ones that look more modern.
Both styles have 3 versions. A horizontal one for drawers, and then vertical left and right hand versions for the doors. They snap to slots on the doors/drawers. If the door/drawer has more than one slot, you can either hover the handle to the correct one you wanna use, or press M until the handle goes to the desired slot.

Even though everything is split between misc. storage and counters, is there a collection file at all?
No collection file - cause everything is just in two locations

I have a little problem. I tried to drag a custom color onto the door frame for a counter but missed it and clicked the glass by mistake. Now I'm getting the message "The current style is invalid. Please select a new style before continuing." and an arrow is pointing to the custom content icon. I can't seem to click my way out of the create a style window. Am I doomed to exit the game without saving or is there a way to get out of the CAS screen?
Just click another item with the CAST tool The glass doesn't have CASTable channels - so the game gives such warning.
(see posts #40-#46 for more info if that above does not work)

hey, I'm having trouble installing the countertops sims3pack file I have sims 3 basegame v1.29.56.014037 bought and installed via Steam, and the Launcher refused to install either sims3pack file but after some reading around I found a program called Merlin, and that has managed to install the counterbases sims3pack only. What else could I try?
I have to say, no idea :/ I have sims as disk copies, and I've never installed any CC to any Steam game. One last thing to try that I can offer, is that instead of installing both sims3pack at the same time, install then one at the time - you have the counter top already, so just try to install the island. I'm sorry I can't be more help with this issue :/ ((If it's steam, I can't help))

I have a question though, I know you said that it's best to not turn the simpacks into packages. So I'm just wondering with the packages you already provide, is it okay to merge those? I just wanna be sure that's okay even if the simpack thing and merging thing has nothing to do with each other.
It should be fine to merge them - make a backup of the set, and then just try. I'm not a fan of compiling files myself, mainly cause they are so hard to fix afterwards, but go for it you want to do it.
Your set is quite versatile and what I like most is that it looks very different depending on the choice of finish. I love it and thank you for sharing!!
Wow. This is almost too creative. I don't know if I can handle it! XD XD Thank you so much for this... I can't wait to start playing with it and seeing just what it can do!
The sky is not even a limit to you, how can you come up with such a brilliant idea and manage that many objects with its various combination options?
Thank you very much for sharing.
This is a must have set that I feel will see great use in every part my homes from now on. The flexibility, versatility, and pure genius of this set is something that can only come from the mind of a spectacularly talented individual. Thank you!
