Picked Upload! This is a picked upload! It showcases some of the best talent and creativity available on MTS and in the community.
Updates: Compatible with 1.66 and 1.67. No changes.
Compatible with 1.63. No changes.
Compatible with 1.57. No changes.
Compatible with 1.55. No changes.
Compatible with 1.50. No changes.
Compatible with 1.47. No changes.

An XML tuning mod that forces all newborn sims to have their parents' or (if they exist) grandparents' eye and hair colour. There is no chance of a mutated colour being chosen.

As this mod alters Genetics in GameplayData, it will conflict with any other mods that do. Otherwise there should be no conflicts. Made with Patch 1.42, and not backwards compatible. Compatible with 1.47.

Does it simply remove the mutation rate and force the game to select from only the child's gene pool, or does it also limit their genetic options to the past two generations? I'll be downloading it, regardless, I just want to know.

I'm glad you find it useful - it really annoyed me, which is why I made this.

This mod makes two changes: the chance of a mutation is set to zero, so there is no possibility of a random one. Then the chance of choosing a grandparents' colour is reduced, because originally there was a higher chance of choosing a grandparents' hair colour at least than the parents', which I thought was stupid. EA doesn't have genes as such (as they did in TS2), so it's not possible to include genetics from earlier in the family tree without a significantly more complicated mod that I certainly can't make. The limit to the past two generations was already there. Does that answer your question?

Thank you! Using it as we speak, I've got Twallan's mods installed so here's hoping.

I know I can always cheat and change it but that takes a lot of the fun out of it.

I'm sorry it's not working for you - it's working fine for me but I have some expansion packs, so I can't really check with just the base game. It's made from a resource available to the base game, so I don't know what's causing the problem. I'll investigate and get back to you if I find anything.

I may consider giving the mod another try soon as I've recently installled Supernatural and Seasons.
