Picked Upload! This is a picked upload! It showcases some of the best talent and creativity available on MTS and in the community.

'Blowin' Smoke' is a rural diner most likely in eastern California or the southwest, dating back to the fifties; back then it was more than just locals and nomad truckers that frequented this oh so common sight of a diner that's seen better days.

The waitresses working here saw all kinds of kinds; mostly en-route East to Vegas or West to some Californian city with nothing more than an old car and a dream. While most of those old cars made it to places such as Los Angeles and the like, very few dreams ever amounted to more than the dust and dirt that the diner is built on. Many returned en-route back home with a heavy heart and shattered dreams while many stayed on the west coast, too ashamed to return to their friends and families having accomplished none of the things they always said they would. However there were a few who found all they had hoped for, just not right out on the west coast; instead a better life was often found right here; these fortunate souls would see the good and the beauty of life without fame or wealth and decide to settle right here in the town that the diner served. Apart from the natives, and the older families that settled during the gold rush, most members of the community were from elsewhere and had originally only intended to pass through the town.

This upload was heavily inspired by a song by the wonderful Kacey Musgraves, from which it gets its name; 'Blowin' Smoke'. I wanted to create somewhere that reflected the tone of the song, however I think I got a little caught up with the whole fifties' diner vibe; it's certainly a lot brighter than I originally intended it to be. It's also inspired by the fictional town of "Radiator Springs" from the Disney movie 'Cars'; as well as the faded glamour and glory of Route 66 in general.

Lot Info:
The lot is built on a 30 by 30 plot which is pictured in the gorgeous world of Wild Wild West and costs 94,731 Simoleons furnished and 28,278 Simoleons unfurnished. It is currently set as a "Java Hut", but once placed it could easily be changed to a "Dive Bar" or a "Local Watering Hole" or whatever you fancy. One note of warning; the booths are more decorative than functional. I had hoped they would function like the ones in Sims two, and that Blowin' Smoke could be used like a restaurant from Sims 2 as well, but sadly this isn’t the case without the use of mods and cc; hence why there's the two bars and the coffee and cake counter instead.

I hope y'all will enjoy and find use for this lot in your worlds.

Quick Guide:

1. Click the file listed on the Files tab to download the file to your computer.
2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file.
2. Select the .sims3pack file you got from extracting.
3. Cut and paste it into your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Downloads folder. If you do not have this folder yet, it is recommended that you open the game and then close it again so that this folder will be automatically created. Then you can place the .sims3pack into your Downloads folder.
5. Load the game's Launcher, and click on the Downloads tab. Select the house icon, find the lot in the list, and tick the box next to it. Then press the Install button below the list.
6. Wait for the installer to load, and it will install the lot to the game. You will get a message letting you know when it's done.
7. Run the game, and find your lot in Edit Town, in the premade lots bin.

Extracting from RAR, ZIP, or 7z: You will need a special program for this. For Windows, we recommend 7-Zip and for Mac OSX, we recommend Keka. Both are free and safe to use.
